Reputable Seller Selling Fake Gold Coins on eBay

You think that you can trust someone with over 200 positive feedbacks selling gold on ebay but think again.

I've reported this seller to ebay previously but here they are again selling fake gold again and the bidding is over $1600.

Something needs to be done about these crooks.

How can you tell it's fake? Not disputing the fact, just genuinely interested.

    • ^^this

    • Interested also, especially as seller links prospective buyers to a certification confirmation website.

      • Damn, your right, no criminal could put a link on a page to a certification site, foolproof way of telling real sellers!

    • After looking at the item, I noticed some things were off from the original. I emailed the company NGC that grades the coin the actual ebay listing and they promptly replied that it's a counterfeit coin in a counterfeit holder.

oh, that seems to make sense. maybe it would have been useful to have a stated that in the original post….right at the start,

but I don't get it - when you go to the NGC site and enter the Certifcate number and grading then it comes up with that coin.—-> https://www.ngccoin.com/certlookup/2776698-008/69/

That's a pretty big accusation without any supporting information. Just being fair, how should we be taking your word over theirs? Have you purchased one of their coins and verified that it's fake?

    • a piece of the bar code is 3/4 missing towards the end, which is a little strange. I'm still on the fence but it would definitely make me do alot more research before bidding.

    • Because it's obvious to an experienced eye. Simple as that.

  • Buying Gold without having the proper machines to test it is crazy.

Just look at all the fake stuff on the Dark web.

  • I don't know about them selling fake gold coins. But I have bought other coins from this seller before and they seemed ok.

    • They are selling 2 - 1 oz gold coins that were graded by NGC. Contact them with the listing and they will tell you they are fake.

      • but when you go to the NGC site and enter the Certifcate number and grading then it comes up with that coin.

link to NGC site and coin

Pretty cute was to attract visitors to your own Ebay Listing !!!!!

Apart from contacting NGC to confirm if they're genuine or not, there is some contradicing information:

    Firstly its mentioned:

Description: The item is exactly what is in the pictures. I know nothing about years, names or grading of the item

then at the bottom of the ad:

I Guarantee FULLY ,THIS ITEM IS ORIGINAL AUSTRALIAN COIN

The moment an ass like this specifically highlights in bold along the lines of; 'the item you will get is exactly what's in the picture" is pretty much a waiver of your rights when you purchase it.

he/she writes that for every single item he/she sells.

and also asks people to "LOOK AT PHOTOS AND BE THE JUDGE OF THE COIN CONDITION PLEASE"

basically, he/she is leaving it to the buyer to ascertain the condition of the coin and therefore they purchase as they see. if he were to grade it himself then some one would buy it and whinge about it not being that grade but the grade below. no seller wants that hassle.

check the 4 pieces of plastic holding the coin there totally different shape than the ones on NCG website so I'd say at least the coin has changed holders at the very least.

  • The packaging has a few noticeable differences to the proof pictures on the NGC website. It is quite noticeable.

Anyone who buys crap like this, such high value items, without doing any research frankly deserves what they get. Its like buying a car just by an online ad without getting an inspection done and then bitching it has problems.

Never ever buy Gold online .
Buy direct from store more safe.

https://www.ngccoin.com/certlookup/2776698-008/69/ if you go to the NGC website, and enlarge the photos of the genuine product, you can see the difference between counterfeit and original, the space between barcode and bottom bar is different than the one on eBay store from this seller. Also the barcode on the counterfeit is not very clear at the end either.

Someone has to report this fraudulent seller to the Police.

I called ebay and told them that the coin is not genuine and that they should cancel the auction. Interested to see what they do.

Looks like ebay deleted that listing. Here is another one of their fake coins to be aware of http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/AUSTRALIA-2012-PROOF-1OZ-9999-GOL…

  • Good job Jimmy!!!

  • Rang eBay about the other fake coin a couple of days ago and it's still auctioning. Are they going to do something?

    • +1

Are they going to do something?

what do you want ebay to do? cancel listings because jimmy2shoes claims that these items are counterfeits? ebay doesn't normally do that unless the member can provide evidence to support their claim.

it would be easier to get ebay to cancel these listings using vero.

Yet another fake coin. Looks like this seller keeps getting away with it.
