    Good price?

    Good price, but still expensive.

If I'm not mistaken, the differences between V8 models is just the attachments? There's a significant price difference between models, so Dyson is making some good coin on the attachments. And of course they're either not going to let you buy the attachments separately, or they will charge a lot for them. That's where the real money is made, always.

I wanted to buy a tube so I can buy a stick-less model and use it as a stick, saving a lot of money (they charge a lot for a plastic tube). They don't let you.

V8 gets double the battery life to the V6

No, by models, I meant V8, V8 animal, V8 absolute, etc. Not V6, V8, V10. The price difference in range is understandable. But within the same family of product, the difference is what attachments it comes with, and the colour of the plastic. All of those parts are made in china for a penny or two but sold for good money here.

        • Ah k fair enough yeah I know the Absolute models get the more powerful head, but you're right the body is the same

        • Just out of curiosity how much are the V8 Absolute parts if one decides to buy them separately?

        • +1

Not sure about the specific parts linked to the Absolute model but I know that most genuine Dyson accessories are usually extortionately priced. They can be found quite cheaply on the second hand market if you are okay with them being slightly used.

@kiwiinoz: You cannot buy the parts separately, e.g. if you buy this model in this post and in the future you wanted the fluffy head that is available in the Absolute, you won't be able to officially. Only way is if someone was selling their V8 for whatever reason for spare parts on ebay or gumtree.

        • @Obichunobi: Thanks for that info.

      • Thought this was the petrol model?

True. Rephrase “is it the cheapest price it has ever been?”

I've had the v6 slim for 12 months that I got for ~$270. Does the job well. Not sure if longer battery life, extra suction and larger head is worth the $300 extra.

I'll probably buy the v8 model in 3 years time when it's $270.

      • Dont forget the redesigned method of emptying the bucket which I find annoying on the older handstick models. I have a DC59 myself, and I skipped the V6 as it just wasn't that much of an upgrade over the 59, but definitely looking at getting the V8 once prices become a bit more reasonable.

Once you have made that long term commitment, you will really appreciate the longer lasting extra suction

      • Don't forget bigger collection bucket on the V8. My V6 bucket often gets full before the battery goes flat…

Having said that, I'm in the same boat; will hold off V8 until it's a bit cheaper. V6 still going great guns.

  • Still waiting for the V8 Absolute to come back down to the benchmark $636 price it usually is when the 20% off sales are on.

Cmon eBay. Do a 20% off sale including a $799 V8 Absolute and put me out of my mysery.
