Floor Tiles

Landlord looking to put 71 square meters of floor tiles.

Best price I have found so far is $5 per square metre.

Seems to be a 2-3 day job.. some friends are charging $200-300 per day total for two people.

What can you find for me Ozbargain?

I have no experience in the field or industry so show me what you got.

$200-300 is pretty cheap, go with it and get it out of the way.
$5 per M for tiles is cheap too, must be ugly 2nds or so.

    • Would there be any chance of finding any better deals? It's looking to be under $2000 if we go with the more expensive $15-18 tiles.

F no. That is ridiculously cheap still for tiles.

  • the location might help…..

  • You will not find it any cheaper anywhere. The question is; $200-$300 a day - for people that know what their doing? Or just randoms having a go and have no idea. If they have no idea, you could just save paying them, watch a few youtube tutorials and have a go yourself.

Also go for bigger tiles 600x600 or 300x300 .. less labour and time not a 100x100 that will take Ages. Also do not go for rectified or square edge tiles as minor imperfections show up like a baboons ass (height differences etc everything has to be perfecto).

  • Find some cheap subway tiles. Never goes out of fashion.

$200 to $300 a day is cheap. Are they professional tilers?

    • I think one is a professional the other might just be his son or something.

    • Subway tiles are for walls. You wouldn't want to put them on the floor.

  • Not sure I would trust getting a decent job done for $200 to 300 a day for 2 blokes. Going rate should be around $50 per m2 minimum for a qualified tiler. That's around $3500 total for the job including materials. I'm a tiler by the way.

    • To be fair I don't think they are looking for a state of the art job just wanting to get it done as cheaply as possible. If you look at the rest of the house it is just bare minimum to become livable.
