Reasonable Price Apartment in Melbourne CBD to Watch NYE Firework!

Hi all

We would like to rent an apartment in Melb CBD during the NYE celebration so that our kids can watch firework in their own comfort instead of battling an army of teenagers fighting for standing spot at the Yarra river bank.

It will be our first time ever but having browsing through most apartments and the price on the date is not available, why is that?

Also has anyone else done this before, any tips/guides please shout out.

Thank you

NYE in Melbourne must suck if it only has 1 firework.

Depends on the firework, I hear Guam is set to really go off sometime before the new year.

        mo gold!

I wonder how the holiday rental market in Guam has been going the last few days.

        There may be some bargains!

But then again, the action may be anywhere from North Korean coast through to Japan, other islands, the ocean or finally, Guam. You may miss it, or have a ringside seat on the incoming action.

  • why is that?

Apartment owners want the views for themselves
Apartment owners loath party houses (which invariably happen on NYE)
Apartment owners have minimum rental days over holiday periods to maximize their profit

Even finding a hotel room with a view at a decent price will be difficult.

I'm not sure about Melbourne, but there's normally a few family friendly places around Sydney to watch the fireworks. That's your best option and then maybe go back to a hotel/apartment without a view, if home is too far.

  • Don't know about Mel, but this is an impossible dream in Sydney. Thousands, is the cost.

  • Give it 12 months and you can buy an apartment during the CBD apartment liquidation sale.

"browsing through most apartments and the price on the date is not available, why is that"

Doh! - maybe because it is a popular night (just a guess!)

  • There is no such thing as a reasonably priced apartment in Melbourne.
