What Pillow Do You Use?

Hi fellow Ozbargainers,

I'm on the hunt for a new pillow! My old cheap one I got from Ikea has served me well but I think it's time for a proper upgrade.

Just wanted to know what pillow you are currently using, cost, where you bought it, and if you're happy with it.

Prefer a low pillow with decent firmness. Hate those big ones you get in the hotels that make your head rise.

Any comment is much appreciated!

Thank you.

Edit: It seems everyone is passionate about their pillow! Thanks for all the suggestions. A decision will be made soon :)

  • I have been a lover of Killarney Latex (Standard not curved) pillow for many years. However for some reason I am finding it hard to buy now off the internet. Last time I got one it was from Harris Scarfe. Its nice and firm and I am a side sleeper.

  • I recently bought two pillows from tlc latex online - the firm ($65) and the therapeutic contour pillow ($85). They are still on sale for the same price. Highly recommend the company. I rang them before I purchased as I was having trouble deciding what to get and they were most helpful. The pillows are guaranteed to last for 10 years.

Before this I was using a target dual core foam pillow and had to replace it every year or so when it lost firmness.

Re latex quality: apparently there is a massive difference between synthetic and natural Talalay latex.

I didn't go for memory foam because apparently it's hot and also I toss and turn a lot.

    Hope this helps.

  • anyone know if there are any stores that sell the pillows that contain the plastic like beads instead of feathers?
i slept on them while in japan and cant seem to find anything similar here in oz.

  • You could give 'MicroCloud' pillows a try, but who knows how many of the reviews are genuine (seem overwhelmingly positive): https://www.productreview.com.au/p/microcloud-pillows.html

  • You are going to spend 1/3rd of each day on your pillow and mattress. It is worth the investment. You will end up trying few before you find your match. When you do, trust me this will be the best investment you will ever make. A good sleep every night !!
I used to buy $10 Tontine crap from target earlier, which will lose the firmness in 2-3 months and were only good for pillow fights after that. I started having neck pain and that is when I realised the importance of having good pillow and mattress.

I tried latex, dunlopillo and eventually settled on Tempur contoured memory foam pillow. Then I bought myself a Tempur mattress and have not looked back since.
    Best investment ever !!

  • +1

    tempur ombracio for myself.

But whatever you get, it's important the pillow is the right height for you. Otherwise it'll still be uncomfortable for you irrespective of the price. Try before buying where possible.

  • i paid $5 for an Australian made pillow from Target.. in a years or two time i'll replace it with another $5 Aussie made pillow… i've tried using an Aussie made Latex pillow that will last longer but it always gives me a stiff kneck

  • Duck feather filled pillow, I cant stand the toxic smell from those memory pillow.

  • I've tried MANY and love the Dunlopillo. I always go back to it.

They are on special every now and then at Harris Scarf.

  • No pillow at all.

If I sleep on stomach I usually sleep on my arm covered with thin blanket.

  • A really firm memory foam pillow. I probably overpaid for it but I love it.

  • Ended up buying the Dunlopillow medium profile classic. Tried it last night and it was too firm. Back started to hurt a bit after a while.

Probably should have gone for this soft feel version instead. Does anyone have this one?
