  • Note, they seem to only list one available at a time.

I bought one yesterday and it was relisted after an hour, so this post might get marked as expired.

Cheapest I've seen this lens in AUS since it was released.

    • Can you comment on the quality of the lens & images pls

      • The Sigma is regarded as (one of) the best lenses for the e-mount system and is sharper than the Sony. The Sony does have OSS and better AF though, so it's a trade off. If you are doing video, perhaps the Sony is the better choice. All up to personal preference, I guess.

      • Just got mine today,

Used to have a canon and the older version of the same lens which was great however was known to have QC issues.

Depends on your use, this will probably be my go to lens for most days - family, indoor/night outings

It's raining where I am so I'm not heading out to take any photos today.

  • Spent the night agonising over this after the comment on my OP for the F/2.8 Art series (https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/324211) drew my attention to the listing. I originally went looking for this lens but was sad they didn't have it. I really didn't want to spend more money…but seeing this post just kicked me over the edge. I figure that even if I do not like it or want the SEL35F18 down the track, surely this can be sold for a minimal loss, second hand I can see this being worth $300 really.

    Thanks OP & Dcxpert…taking all my money…!

    • +1

let us know how it stacks with SEL35F18 if you do get that.
i used SEL50F18 before and it was great, very sharp, however the 50mm can be a bit annoying sometimes.
i've read SEL35F18 has a similar or slightly less sharpness than SEL50F18, but it's just very expensive now.

      • Will do - in the mean time there are some great video comparisons on youtube. Check out TechnologyMafia.

      • Mine arrived today.

Don't have the SEL35F18 however apart from AF speed the Sigma is supposed to blow away the Sony.

Edit - review i had read previously https://www.dxomark.com/Reviews/Sigma-30mm-f-1.4-DC-DN-C-len…

        • sigma has bigger body too, i think the size is almost like sel50f18

        • @hendyb:
True, however being 30mm instead of 35mm it should cancel out If your talking about manoeuvrability (both lenses have the same min focus distance)

Might be a problem for someone not wanting to stand out or fitting it your pocket.

        • @iGOTissues: Mine arrived today as well. Have the weekend off to play…if the weather cooperates :/

        • @BugsBunnyAUS:
If you're in NSW as it is supposed to still be windy, maybe you could do like a marilyn monroe signature photo shot? :p

    • SEL35F18 is the best for E-mount under $500 IMO

  • Back in stock now!

  • Hey Guys,

I'm not planning to get an A6xxx until later this year (probably Decemberish), is this a good price? Would you recommend I buy this lens now or wait it out till Christmas when I get the camera?

    • I would get it now, normally without any discount it would be $450
If you can afford A6500 then it even better because A6500 has OSS built in the camera body

    • If your definitely getting A6xxx then yes.

Cheapest I've seen it previously was 395~ at DigiDirect during their store wide 15% off sale. 18 months ago and hasn't been below 420 from where I've loooked

  • Pretty decent express shipping, ordered it at midday yesterday and it made it to Brisbane already. Time to mess around with some nice wide apertures
