  • Great price, thanks!

This would not include Jak & Daxter download code, as it is not a pre-order. Correct? =(

    • +6

Yeah probably not. Target don't think theirs do - https://twitter.com/Targetaus/status/897965515313881088
That said a lot of "pre-order" bonuses are within day one copies of games these days.

      • +1

Thanks. That's good customer service from Target Twitter.

      • +1

My local EB store says they've got the download codes to hand out as a separate SKU on the receipt. It's not included in the case.

    • +1

There's a good chance that it will - all new physical releases that I've bought off the shelf on or near release date have included the preorder bonuses.

    • +1

you can get it price matched at EB. if you rock up as soon as an EB store opens, they'll give you the pre-order edition even if you haven't pre-ordered. Because they can't be [tight]arsed to go at the back and open up the standard edition boxes, so they'll give you the pre-order ones they have behind them.

    • EDIT: Actually maybe not

      • What was your comment before the edit? Did you pick one up from Big W and confirm there is no Jak code?

        • +2

I got mine from Target. It does come with two codes in the DVD Case and I assumed one of them was Jak's but it's actually a multiplayer bonus code and a code for some game called "That's You"

          :(

        • +1

@stratbargain: Damn, no worries. No Jak code on the receipt either? Thanks heaps for sharing - I'm trying to figure out whether it's worth a trek after work or not.

        • +1

@HereBobButtons: I just got it at EB (with price match) Jak code wasn't on the receipt, it's a colour, double-sided card, like they ones they hand out for Pokemon bonuses.

        • @Strand0410: thanks buddy

        • @Strand0410: so EB wouldn't price match for me if I wanted the Jak code. Whatever… Thanks for letting me know anyway. I just copped EB's price, feel a little dirty though

        • @HereBobButtons: YMMV with EB. The manager at my old one was a stooge who'd refuse to match any store outside an arbitrary 5km, which ruled out everything except Kmart in the same shopping centre. The staff at my new local are pretty accommodating.

        • @Strand0410: Yeah, it seems that way. All good.

  • nice!

  • +2

    Does this release tomorrow?

    • yes

  • Well there you go - I actually thought that this was only available as a download. Good to know!

  • +5

    All night sesh tomorrow!

  • So is this game already quite cheap as standard?

    • +2

Yes because it's only a standalone expansion pack with a shorter story than a regular Uncharted game.

      • Its reported to be the same length as 4 if you play on the more harder difficulties

        • +2

A length is always dependant on how you play. Uncharted 4 can be completed in 5 hours (I've done it) if you're rushing. The fact is the story is shorter than Uncharted 4, and the price reflects that so it's not an issue. Just worth noting because there's always going to be people who just assume it's a 12 hour game even though they didn't pay the full RRP of an AAA release.

        • it's length is more like the very first uncharted so approx 8 hours which i think is fine for that sort of game, U4 was great but too long.

      • According to several sources, Naughty Dog included, it's in the region of 10 hours for the campaign. Pretty hefty for standalone DLC. The game itself will not make any major graphical advancements over UC4, but that's hardly a bad thing considering how awesome UC4 looks on PS4 Pro in 4K HDR.

        edit:words.

        • +1

Absolutely. I'm so excited to play it, and especially happy about the price. Was just noting that you'll probably complete it quicker than a 'full' Uncharted game.

        • @BradH13: The rest of the series have all hit around 9~12 hours depending on play style etc, so if the reports about it being roughly 10 hours for the main story are accurate, you might be pleasantly surprised. :)

        • UC4 looks awesome with the PRO because it was NATIVE 2k resolution with checkerboarding.

Lost Legacy is native 1440p cb to 4k. (PRO)

        • but that's hardly a bad thing considering how awesome UC4 looks on PS4 Pro in 4K HDR.

Or just on the standard PS4.

        • +1

          @HeyHeyHeyIsItADeal:

4 is also 1440p after pro patch.

  • still haven't finished UC4 because it really does my head in, damn ghosting on 4k.
have to play in 20 min windows otherwise the headaches kick in.

    • I didn't have any issue playing it in 4K HDR on my Sony X930D.

It's got the same 30fps judder as ANY 30fps game in bright scenes, but I don't know if that's what you're referring to?

      • I don't have any judder on my LG C7T, has they X930D received a HDR game mode yet?

    • +2

I didn't see any thing wrong when i played through Uncharted 4.
game looked amazing despite the low FPS.

    • Can you configure it to play at a lower res in the game settings?

      • +1

        Turn off PS4 Pro Boost.

  • Thanks OP. I'm sure EB with match even if you preordered for the Jak & Daxter.

  • I usually price match at JBhifi. And their pre order bonus code will come separately printed with the receipt.

  • So hyped for this, trailers look fantastic

    • Walk-through already out. There are even a few movie only uploaded to YouTube.

      • Yes I've completed up to chapter 5 so far, feels just like UC4 which I love and the story and levels so far have been great!

  • +1

got this at target tonight, 44 bucks, came with the download code for the free game, for those wondering :)

    • Was the code inside the box?

      • yeah, on a little sheet of glossy paper.

        • +2

You sure? Mine came with the download code for a free game… A crappy party game called "That's You"

          No Jak & Daxter

        • oh, i'm not sure. i haven't redeemed it. sorry if i misled. i'll check this afternoon and update :)

  • +1

Hi OP, Any chance you could expand that pic and show us the launch price for Madden please? Thanks!

    • +1

Can confirm Madden is $79! Looks to be one of the best Madden games in years!

  • Went to go buy this from bigw today at marion (sa) and was told its $49 until thursday when the sale starts…….. wtf

    • Yeah, the start date is in the post.

  • +2

I got EB to match Big W and they gave me the Jak and Daxter code. It's on a seperate bit of paper (not in the case).

    • What ? How?! I bought mine today and the cashier asked if I preordered and I didn't but everyone else is saying they walked in and bought it and STILL GOT the code?

      • The listing for the game on the EB website says that the J&D code is now a 'purchase bonus', you could mention that to the cashier? My store just gave the code to me though.

      • It really depends on the staff. I tried two stores. The staff at the second store checked with her colleague and her colleague told her just give me one since they have spare ones anyway.

You can try going back to the store to see if they can give you a spare one (mention the Web site and perhaps tell them multiple people are able to get it without pre-order the game). I doubt I will play Jak and Dexter, but for some reason, I still want a free copy.

  • Matched the price to EB for preorder but they didn't give the code because of matching price.

  • +3

$39.99 at Costco if you already have a membership.

    • Ooohhh thanks!

  • Went to EB games Melbourne, on Swanston Street and Melbourne Central. They wouldn't price match the Big W $42 price till tomorrow but would price match Target $44 today.

Only asked the Melbourne Central store about the Jak and Daxter code, they said its only available with pre-orders.

    • that makes no sense targets $44 price starts tomorrow the same day as bigw.
      https://www.target.com.au/catalogues#page=catalogue&params=t…

      • It's $44 on Targets website right now.

    • It is really up to the staff. I went to the other Swanston street store since people gave that store good reviews online. The staff I talked to refused to give me the Jax and Daxter code (no issue with the price match). I showed her the Web site, no difference.

I then went to the Melbourne Central store. However, I asked whether I can get the Jax and Daxter code with the game first. Again, the staff indicated it is for pre-order only. I also showed her the Web site (no difference again). She then asked her colleague next to her. Interestingly, her colleague told her no problem, just give me one of their spare ones (they have quite a few). Then, I asked for price match.

      • I also picked up a copy at Melbourne Central today. I guess they withheld the Jak and Daxter codes for preorders and once they were all accounted for, gave away the spares. Had no problem grabbing one with a price match, and she helpfully gave me a Salazzle code too.

EDIT: also didn't need to check the site, as she said she'd already done a Target price match earlier, so maybe you? :)

        • The way the staff said it, it sounds that they know they have spare ones.

They wanted me to show them BigW has stock, had to use my smartphone. Again, I reckon it is up to the staff anyway. Some are more strict. It's good that you didn't need to go through the same process.

  • JB Hifi Broadway wouldn't pricematch because big w is 'not local', so I walked over to EB Games next door and price matched instead, they accepted amex too 😂😂

  • +2

This could be brought down to $39.90 by using a woolies gift card purchased on Cashrewards

    • Used my staff card to achieve this price. Like others on this post I tried to match the Big Ws catalogue price at EB which I got but was told Jak and Daxter was only for full price purchase and not price match. At which point I politely took my business down to Big W :)
