Definitely go well with the targetted Fathers Day giftcard promo.

    • That promo ends 29th aug, and this one starts 30th.

      • Yeah I know I'm stocking up on that promo this week.

    • Which promo is that?

  • +2

    "30/6", should be "30/8"

    • Thanks, Fixed.

  • Looks like new packaging

    • Can't see any with the new packaging. But bought two $100 on the old packaging. Hope the points will post.

      • +1

Get new package if you can for longer expiry date till 4/20.

        • +1

It's ok. Planning to use them within the next day or so.

  • Does this apply to $10 apple itunes card?

    • If it does it would be an amazing deal.

    • +1

pretty sure apple music & itunes are different?

      • They are interchangeable.

        • Are you sure? They sound pretty specific to Apple Music (https://www.apple.com/au/shop/gift-cards/apple-music-electro…).

        • @elyobo: what does this actually mean…. Valid only on the Australian iTunes Store or towards an Australian Apple Music membership.

        • @apnamasti: Presumably that you can use it on both… but can you use it to buy anything aside from a music subscription via iTunes? It sounds like you can't…

"Select a three- or twelve-month subscription towards an Apple Music individual membership. It can be redeemed on Apple Music, iTunes, iBooks, the App Store or the Mac App Store."

Sounds like you can use it on iTunes, but only towards a "three- or twelve-month subscription towards an Apple Music individual membership". But maybe you can use it for anything ¯_(ツ)_/¯

        • +1

          @elyobo: That's pretty ambiguous.

I know iTunes and App Store giftcards are interchangeable since it gets added to a single account balance shared between iTunes/App Store/iBookstore.

That wording for Apple Music giftcards sounds like it works the same way and just adds the value to your balance. I think the only real difference is the value on the card, but somebody would need to confirm.

EDIT: Seems like when you redeem an Apple Music card, it'll prompt you to add that value to a new or existing Apple Music subscription:

When you redeem an Apple Music Gift Card, you can choose to apply your credit directly toward an Apple Music Individual membership. If you're not an Apple Music member, applying the credit automatically signs you up for a membership*. If you’re already an Apple Music member, applying your credit to a membership extends your date of renewal by the number of months on the card.

          https://support.apple.com/en-au/HT201209

        • @lint: Yeah, very ambiguous. Good digging on that Apple support article though, definitely sounds like it's restricted. No Apple card for me then.

        • +1

          But I also found this:

"If you choose not to apply your Apple Music Gift Card balance toward a membership, the amount is credited to your Apple ID like an iTunes Gift Card."

          https://support.apple.com/en-au/HT201209

        • @Ruckmauler:
You can definitely use the Apple Music cards for credit on your normal balance. I did it with the bonus 3 months code that came with BeatsX headphones.

        • @Ruckmauler: Missed that part. Nice!

@stickyfingers: Excellent, thanks! If this rolls around again I'll take advantage.

  • I have 2 questions :
    - This Mastercard is debit card and valid 50$ only ?
    - Can I use this Mastercard to top up Opal card ?

    • Not sure exact details yet, wait for real catalogue.
      Yes

    • If these one are same to OneVisa promotion before, you should get bonus with $100 Coles MC as well, but to maximize the saving, it is better to grab 2 $20 Coles MC with 2 Flybuy Accounts.

I read the information at the back of these cards at Coles, you can use it wherever accepts Mastercard. So you can top up OPAl at Woolies without problem, but at top up machine, I am not quite sure.

      • 5$ purchase fee for 20$ giftcard is abit too much ?

        • my bad 2 $50

      1. It's a once off prepaid card in $50 or $100 denominations. Once the value is used up it cannot be recharged
      2. You can use it at any merchant where mastercard is accepted. If your Opal retailer accepts mastercard, then yes you can use it to top-up your Opal card
  • Why the $5 purchase fee? What is that covering??

    • The cost of making the card and packaging I'm assuming.

      • Not forgetting MC fees.

      • You reckon the cost of producing a single plastic card is $5?

        • +1

There's obviously other fees and costs involved, including from MasterCard, shipping fees, and some cream on top.

        • +1

You reckon ATMs require $2.5 worth of servicing every time someone makes a withdrawl? No, but banks are greedy and where there is money to be made, they'll do it.

    • +2

      The flybuys points 😉

      • How many points equals to 5$ purchase fee ?

        • 1,000 flybuys points

        • 1000, I'm pretty sure
Edit: oops, fashionably late to the party!

    • All prepaid credit cards have these fees. Only worth purchasing if there's an offer like this.

      • Is it just a one time fee? Or $5 fee per transaction

  • 2000 points = $10

    • +2

So if you purchase 50$ Mastercard, you only actually get 1000 points or 5$ bonus only. Its like give 10% discount or 5% discount if its 100$ Mastercard

      • +1

No it's for all MasterCards. Effectively $5 discount ($10 points less $5 fee).

  • and the most important thing is ……. what is the max per household?

unfortuantely a good deal but where you can heaps >>>>> a great deal that you can only buy one

    • Bonus points can only be collected once per flybuys household

  • So I keep receiving this email from Coles :

Collect 10,000 BONUS POINTS! When you spend $50 or more in one shop at Coles each week for 4 weeks.

If I top up Opal Card at Coles 50$ each week, Can I get 10,000 points ?

    • +1

you should try it on the first week. if the purchase is eligible, the receipt will show "Congratulations on first week, 3 more weeks to go".

      • $50 transaction excludes purchases of all gift cards, iTunes cards, tobacco and tobacco related products

    • +2

yes. i got the last bonus by topping up Opal at Coles Broadway

    • +1

Yes, top up opal card is included in the,$x for 4 weeks 10000pts promo.

I did that at Broadway coles everytime & no issue.

  • 3* points with amex platinum edge card?

    Not too bad

    • 4 if you're local champion ;)

      • +1

5 if you use android pay?

        • Lies! That's targetted anyway.

        • that finishes tomorrow

        • 6 if you use Android Pay and you're local champion?

        • @illumination:
I'm hoping the Coles Myer gift cards I bought at 6 points pet dollar using the above can be used to buy these!

        • @jasonb: Yes they can, provided you don't split payments as you can no longer split payment when buying gift cards using self checkout.

        • @forumninja: Do they allow Coles egift card payment without split payments ?

        • @F1ngolf: No, it forces you to use a payment method on the EFTPOS terminal

  • Morning, I actually received a targeted email this week, buy $100 coles MasterCard with bonus 1000 points but can buy up to 10 of them per household. Anyone else get it?

    • +1

So you pay $5 card issue fee then got $1000 point?

      • +1

Wow $1000 points! Sign me up for that promo.

      • Effectively get card at no cost.

        • Would be good if to have a credit card that pays larger amount of points for 'supermarket' purchase

        • @illumination: yeah, unfortunately I am still ineligible for "welcome bonuses" because I got myself stuck with the Essential card (for which I didn't even use the welcome bonus of $75 because I had aBT so didn't meet the spend criteria). My long term plan is to cancel the current card sometime in Dec (after the end of year statement credit offers), wait for 18 months, and then apply for one of the bigger cards, i.e. explorer or qantas platinum, with 100k welcome bonus points. It may not be the platinum edge though (as I think it did not have the hugest welcome bonus).

  • Focusing on the Apple Music card. Apparently Apple Music and Apple iTunes cards are interchangeable - so to top up my iTunes (read Netflix) - I could buy the $30 card and receive $10 worth of flybuys. That seems like a great deal.

    • Is the $30 Apple Music card equal to $30 iTunes credit? How easy is it to interchange? Also how do I redeem for Netflix account?

    • Yes I would also like to find out how iTunes can be used to redeem for Netflix please. :)

      • Use the Netflix app on iOS or tvOS and let your subscription expire. When it prompts you to renew one of the payment options is iTunes Store.
You can't switch whilst you have an active subscription for Netflix.

  • Can the Coles MasterCard be used for online purchases?

    • +1

Sure can. Hence why it's good for paying bills.

      • And anonymous purchases. Like VPN subscriptions :).

Although to be truly anonymous, I believe it should be bought with cash and coupled with no flybuys swiping.

        • Don't want the government tracking my flybuys points back to my dirty torrenting!

    • +1

      Yes you can

    • yes, you can buy $50 Woolworths egiftcard for $47.5 using those MasterCard and save another $2.5

  • Use AMEX Platinum Edge card to buy this card to get triple x 3 AMEX Membership Reward points. And use it in other place which not accept AMEX.

    • Yep already mentioned above you!

    • And paying the ATO…for those cards that don't earn points paying ATO

  • +1

Apple Music cards are same like iTunes card just like event cinemas gold class and rest of the cards it's just different image on each card for display should work for everything.

  • If the red Westfield gift card still works as an EFTPOS card… There's the AmEx fashion night spend $50 get $20 back offer that starts on the 31st. In NSW, only the Pitt St & George St stores are specifically listed so I don't know if other Westfields are eligible.

Anyhow, there's the opportunity to purchase a $55 Westfield gift card + $2.95 service fee, get a $20 rebate, then use it to buy a $50 Coles Mastercard for the extra FB$5 savings.

    • yes, then use the coles MasterCard to buy Woolworths egiftcard, get another 5%off

but actually, many coles not allow you to buy gift card using gift card except you using those coles master card which
      treated as a cashcard

      • use self serve or tell the cashier you're paying with eftpos.

        • I mean the system may not allow you to pay for a gift card by another gift card. I tried once at the coles rose lands, the system denied directly.

        • @John Kelvin: which gift card did you try to use to make the purchase?

        • @tveye: I tried to use coles gift card and flybuys money to buy ultimate kids gift card
