Apple Still Tagging The iPhone 7 as *New*

Despite being almost 12 months old and mere weeks away from being replaced, Apple still have a little note below the iPhone 7 on their website stating flagging it as "new". Seems a bit misleading? I feel sorry for someone buying one in the next few weeks.

Yeah… I have all the sympathy in the world for someone buying a brand new $1k+ phone and not doing their homework.

    • -3

Homework like going onto the Apple website and seeing if there is a new model?

    • on Sep 15th they will allow a trade back for new one… if it is less than 45 days old.. they do it every year

    • Not everyone needs the latest and greatest, especially if they're coming from an older phone.

as oppose to "going on clearance soon" ?

apple can do anything change the charging port, remove earphone jack and increase the price fanbois will still camp for it.

    • +4

And the fans is singing the praises for the changes because it is innovative and ground breaking.

    • +2

Ah yes, as opposed to releasing a phone that catches on fire….

  • +7

Isn't it technically still the newest?

    • -4

Being the newest, doesn't make it new.

I could have the last Ford Model T that rolled off the production line…. That doesn't make it "new" in 2017.

        iPhone 7 hasn't been superseded… Model T has

        • -2

          Oh, I'm not disagreeing here.

If anything the 6s and SE are new too, they're not used after all.

      • +1

I would argue that the T-Model is not the latest model Ford.

One could also say that if you acquired the T-Model recently, then its your new car.

        • What's newer? The Focus or Falcon?

        • If anyone has a new Model T for sale, I'll take it.

        • @Drew22: Actually it was the Model A

        • @Ryanek:

But thats not new either. Which Ford is the newest?

        • @Drew22: Now you're just being pedantic.

  • Tell me a company that will tell the public that a new model is coming soon. That would be a suicide move in terms of revenue. Even if its obvious, they still wouldn't say it.

If you owe a company, would you tell the customers a month or two ahead of time a new model is coming soon.

    • Car manufacturers do this all the time …

    • Holden has just announced a new Commodore is arriving soon (with front-wheel drive… wow). It won't be long before lots of cool dudes will be driving around in these Commodores with an iPhone 8 stuck to their ear.

  • +5

    Well is it used?

  • It was old hat when it came out.

  • The context is compared to the other models, and it is the newest.

  • +4

Mate, what's your problem, slow news day or something…

  • its still new, its sealed in a box never used before therefore new.

agree not "new" tag should say "current"

  • Hey, I just bought a new guitar. Oops, sorry, a current guitar.

Pointless and stupid post by a Fandroid/Apple Hater.. Samsung makes god knows how many different models of phones every year. I guess by OP's logic, the Samsung Note 8 should be an "Old" phone in another 2 months or so.
