3 Weeks in Europe with Mates, What to Buy The Fiancé as a Gift?

Hi all,

Been in Europe for about 3 weeks with a mate, and our partners couldn't come. I want to buy my fiancé something nice as a thank you (and I also just sold 2 properties and made a tidy profit, so would like to get her something nice anyway). Anybody got any tips?

I know she would probably love a handbag, but I wouldn't have a clue where or how to start! Currently in Como, but will be in Milan for a day before flying home on Saturday.

Looking forward to any tips!

      Don't be silly…

      • OK. A plane ticket to anywhere but Milan.

  • STD?

    • already collected one of them for her….

How about a ticket to Europe?

  • Buy her a property or two

  • "Wish you were her" postcard

That's new…an ozbrag post disguised as a loving gesture.

      Why not both?

Cue "ol del paso" theme music

  • Can u get to Florence? Pretty sure they have some outlets there
London? They have outlets too, bournscher village or something like that, have some of the major brands like mulberry etc

If you get her a handbag, ask what
handbag she wants. As in get her to go online , find exactly what she wants , she can use Skype to call the retailer to have it on hold for you when you arrive.

Otherwise perfume ? Something for your new house together?

I second flying her out to Milan for an extra week just the 2 of you though!!

agreed… women are touchy on handbags. So whatever the OP buys will be WRONG. So ask her up front. Yes removes some of the surprise, but at least she'll use it.

  • If flying out was an option you'd do that instead of a gift right?
I'm assuming she can't fly out due to her schedule or what not, so gift it is.

Chanel Medium Classic Flap would be at the top of my head, however it is expensive otherwise wallet or earrings should do the trick just fine too. All cheaper than in Australia, but not sure where in Europe would be the cheapest… you'll have to do some googling.

If you're definitely after a handbag though and Chanel isn't an option, I would suggest Celine or Saint Laurent? More affordable and amazing handbags.

Really sweet of you to get her something, I'm sure she'd appreciate that you got her a gift :)

    • Great! Yes, unfortunately there won't be time for her to have a break until our delayed honeymoon next June!

Thanks for the tips, I'll look online - really helpful :)

So you've been in Europe for 3 weeks and NOW you're wondering what to buy her 2 days before you leave.
I know, buy her a new car with your tidy profit - have the dealer deliver it to the airport when you arrive - and then drive it to your fiancé - that'll save you and your mates a taxi fare home.
PS: Once you get married - half the car becomes yours again ;-)

    • This !! - Win Win - Just but the car you want

    • Not a bad idea really, I'd like a new car… but I just don't see them as a good investment :D. Sure, a handbag isn't either, but it won't lose as much $wise in value !

      • I just don't see them as a good investment

You need to buy a 80K BMW high yield investment.

        • ah, of course!I forget about those

Don't bother buying her anything, she's already pissed and will be for the next few years.

Prepare for this to be brought up at future arguments.

    • Probably, but then I can say 'but remember that gift' haha. She's not like that anyway, not yet anyway…

  • She will
    Probably dump you

    • Haha. Salty.

She might one day, but not for this :)

  • Black classic flap Chanel jumbo in caviar leather with gold hardware.

  • Thanks for the tips, ended up getting Gucci bag, at an outlet complex in Switzerland, outside milan (45mins drive) called Foxtown, if anyone's ever there, highly recommended! Paid about 40% of what new bags cost in Australia (RRP). Hopefully happy fiancé, and a few more years before "remember when you went to Europe without me?"

    :)

    • Was it the Gucci Marmont? Thumbs down. I hope you got her the Gucci Dionysus. Much nicer than the marmont and the lady dior.
