It's worth noting that Gigabyte don't offer international warranty. So if you need to RMA this card, you'll need to send it back to the US.

However at such a discounted price, that may well be worth it for many here to take the chance.

Massdrop are actually fantastic at RMA

I purchased one of their first MSI gaming x 1070s a year ago, arrived DOA, sent me a replacement and the RMA forms then asked me to ship it back in the same box.

Shame I missed out this time :(

      • Did you have to pay shipping both ways?

        • +1

IIRC I only paid for shipping for the first package they sent me,

Replacement arrived with no costs attached (they actually offered me refund or replacement, but I couldn't buy a card for $525AUD here anyway) and I just needed to call UPS to organise pickup of the RMA parcel.

  • That price includes shipping?

    It appears so

  • +1

I recently put one into a friends rig and it had pretty bad coil whine, not sure if it's common on the Aorus cards though. With no international warranty might be something to consider.

    • +1

Have two of these, no such problems here. Good price.

get a water block for it!

      • +6

Water blocks don't influence coil whine at all??

        • They will if you ramp the radiator fans up to max.

    • Limit the fps to the monitor refresh rate helped me alot with my coil whine. I used the rivatuner statistics server for it

      • Yeh didn't really help on a 144hz monitor

        • +2

Just limit it to 30fps, the human eye can't see more then that anyway

          ;)

    • Got one too, pretty quiet card

  • +3

Can this play Crisis at max settings?

    • +4

Run Minesweeper pretty well on mine so Crysis shouldn't be a problem.

  • +2

Whats with all the adds :/

  • +2

    I think it's sold out?

Edit: I actually have no idea… the site horrible.

  • Amazon has Xtreme version of this card for $973 AUD delivered, is the $110 extra worth it?

    • +1

The difference is a bit of additional cooling for VRM's, an additional LED on the back plate and an extra year of warranty, IIRC.

  • Hope the deal helps some people but wow that site is annoying!

  • +1

Crap, missed it by seconds, was researching the comment on the coil whine…

    • Sorry mate! Just giving my personal experience, I'm sure there is many out there with none but this one was by far the worst I've ever heard.

      • +1

A little disappointed, but I'd rather someone say something if they saw issues before hand so appreciate that. I think I might just wait for Volta next year…

    • +1

It seems to be silicon lottery for these cards. Some have coil whine, some don't. From my own personal research, it does seem like Aorus cards tend to have slightly more coil whine complaints than other cards I've researched, like ROG Strix.

  • That was lucky. Just read a glowing review and was seriously thinking about ordering one, but it sold out before I did.

    My credit card is thankful

    • +2

If I were a credit card I'd want to be used for purchases and not just sit idle in your wallet.

      • +3

Will you be my credit card?

  • Damn, well done those of you who got this one!

  • i expect prices to drop more once the AMD Vega is more established

    • they dont really need to though, 1080ti is still performance king (except tital xp) they dont need to reduce price that much. I could see the 1080 and 1070 dropping in price though to compete and reduce any increase AMD hoped to achieve in market share of the higher end of video cards.

    • As soon as Ethereum (the main AMD mining coin) goes POS, in addition to Vega's lackluster mining performance (around 33MH/s with 400w TDP), expect the opposite.

      • -1

Yes a I think so too. Last time say same thing and NEG. computer moneys easy making just electric money spend if know how to do it

  • anyone knows will MSY price match after-discounted price on ebay? thanks

    • +4

      Not a chance.

      • lol has anyone ever got MSY to price match anything? cause they never have for me

  • +3

There are so many different manufacturers of the 1080 Ti — make sure the dimensions of the card fit your case, all the cards are different. The cooling systems are all a little different too - where does cool air come from / hot air go out.

  • how many did you sell? one or two?

  • They still have the DUKE 1080 TI for sale for those who missed out on this one. Really great price if you dont mind waiting to get it (ships 19th Sept).

    • Yeah I saw this as well. Was gonna post it on here but don't know how.

Still concerned about not having international warranty. So will wait till evga do one …

  • yeah, I am the same. I just bought a 1080Ti because of that from Ebay (Futu) as they have 20% off and it comes to about $150 more but I am happy to pay that for peace of mind.
