Homebrand Toothpaste 150g, $0.91 @ Woolworths

80

Cheap homebrand toothpaste. You'll have to get over the depressing packaging, but 91c is a hell of a price.

I'm actually using a tube I bought for double this price, like a sucker!

To be honest, it's not the best but it's got fluoride so it will still clean your teeth I'd imagine… Will I buy another? Probably not. Still tho, 91c

    fluoride does not clean teeth.
Claims are that it protects teeth.

Will I buy another? Probably not.

    Such a glowing endorsementšŸ˜

  • toothpaste is actually slightly abrasive, that's how it "cleans". The fluoride help stop cavities.

But you're right, homebrand toothpaste is as good as the others.

The gentle abrasiveness is actually really good for cleaning delicate surfaces. I use it on shoes, clothes, leather, glass, painted surfaces, etc with an old soft toothbrush. It cleans & smells nice.

Favourite brand is CEDEL as it's made in Australia and owned by an Aussie company. Most other brands imported and cost more.

  • Where is this made? Because I don't think these are as strictly regulated as food. For example the website only lists the ingredients as a 'guide' and therefore what you buy may have different stuff in it.

    • Probably made in China = off the list for us. We usually get Cedal as it is one of the few still made in Oz.

I'm guessing India. Dodgy countries. If so, no thanks.

          Did you see this?

If it is INDIA, then get ready it will definitely have holy water (cow urine) in it.
It is how they sprinkle it in their houses and shops eat and drink. Holy

Aldi toothpaste is also made in Australia.

Probably only mixed in Australia with imported and local (water) ingredients.

        • Made in China but what isn't these days.

        • @Mr Gradgrind:
We are very particular about the stuff that we consume…China has an abysmal record on food safety (well, safety in general), as do several other non Western nations (e.g I've read that all the Basa comes from the Mekong which is one of the most polluted river systems in the world). We personally won't consume anything from such countries (neither will they in several notable cases i.e. the baby formula scandal in China…local Coles staff recount stories of Asians elbowing each other out of the way to get tins of baby formula that they then resell in China for a massive markup. This also puts a lot of NZ packaged food off the list as they regularly import food from these unsafe countries and package it in NZ then slap a 'Product of NZ' sticker on it.

        • @Ben Kenobi: I'll let you know when I get gum cancer.

  • Isn't that just the normal price? Not really a deal if it is, plus it says it's unavailable for me.

It's cheaper to buy the 3 packs of toothpaste from Chemist Warehouse for $2.50 if you don't care about what you brush with.

    • Anyone can comment this? Looks like many pharmacies are selling at same price.

      • It's $1.83 normally. So it's half price.

Clearly they are stopping production. I like it - so have bought up.

      • I saw those today, just want to post it here for future reference. They didnā€™t mention any active ingredients on those toothpaste. The woolies ones do have MSF iirc.

  • I remember when we were in high school chemistry and were using universal indicator figure out the pH of certain substances. One of these was homebrand toothpaste and it came back slightly acidic :S

  • I bought this a while ago and found it to be alright, although slightly runnier than most other brands. Foams well. Fresh breath, though I do use mouthwash as well. If it's not half price it's the same price as Aldi's toothpaste which is made locally. This one is made in china.

Pro tip - you can screw on those big colgate flip top lids onto this one so that it can stand upright on the countertop.

I picked up another few tubes today, but forgot the $1 frozen meat pies lol!

Saw those at 1/2 price last week, didn't think this was post worthy :P

    • Any tips on source of the big Colgate flip lid? Mine broke after a year. I found a big one but it turned out to be a screw lid.

      • I think most Colgate total toothpaste have those lids.

  • I love it.

Bought 43 tubes on the weekend.
