  • Undeniably cheap - but be warned. Many of these types of printers are cheaper to use and throw rather than buy new cartridges (obviously huge environmental waste so I'm not advocating that). The included cartridge is only good for 190 black pages, and 165 colour…. Maybe the OP's idea of using it as a cheap scanner is a good way to look at it

    • AFAIK the scanner won't work when the ink runs out, and the ink is on a timer to run out if you don't use it.

      • dunno about that one in particular, but my deskjet 6280's scanner still works if i run out of ink. I just have to hit cancel at the replace cartridge message.

        • I could be wrong, but one of the HP models like this one do it.

      • If that's true, then it's no wonder they're selling for $27

Wish I could rip out the scanner and take it to the library at uni. It was reasonable charging for photocopying, but charging for scanning? Not to mention the ridiculous process of typing in your email every time it restarts, and failing to send when the total size of the batch is too large. Admin obviously has no idea how frustrating it is for students scanning photos/pictures from journals.

    • I find that taking a photo of the bits you need is much more convenient than the useless scanner setups. Provided you have a decent quality camera on your phone of course

  • i thinhk this is good price
the normal price on website is 47$

  • Just called HN Fortitude Valley to check stock availability. Sales guy told me they are $47 and it was only a short promotion. He couldn't say how 'short' was the short promotion.

    Anyone bought one?

    • I took the photo this evening at about 5pm, so it's definitely still on.

  • where is fortune valley

  • +1

Just went in and bought one.Still $27.00.They have about 10-15 left, all stacked up.Spoke to the salesperson who mentioned there are black and colour cartridges included BUT they are ONLY small and not the usual size. He said they would last about 50 pages in black and 50 in color…The replacement cartridges cost $38-42 each.Still bought the printer as a "backup" for my wireless Epson (in case that goes)…Still think it's a bargain, even for the 50 pages I would get out of it..!..P.S. The Fortitude Valley is suburb just before going into Brisbane City…Parking is available and free outside store.

  • not scanning without full ink cartridges is pure BS. The scanner and the printer work independently.

  • I have an older but similar HP unit and the scanning is really slow, only really good for a couple of pages at a time unless you have lots of patience….
