[PC/Steam/VR] Steam - Star Trek: Bridge Crew 50% off $29.72 USD (~ $37.37AUD)

100

For those of us with HTC Vive or Oculus Rift, Star Trek : Bridge Crew is on sale at 50% off at the moment.
ABOUT THIS GAME

Star Trek™: Bridge Crew will immerse you in the Star trek universe thanks to VR. The game puts you and your friends in the heart of the U.S.S. Aegis.
Your mission: explore a largely uncharted sector of space known as The Trench, in hopes of locating a suitable new home world for the decimated Vulcan populace. The Klingon Empire is also active in the region, and their purpose is a threat to the Federation’s plans.

Make strategic decisions and coordinate actions with your crew to complete the mission.
In co-op, you can form a crew of four players to serve in the roles of Captain, Helm, Tactical and Engineer. In addition to a dynamic storyline, the game features an “Ongoing Missions” mode, procedurally generating missions for countless hours of Solo and Co-op adventure.

In Star Trek™: Bridge Crew, you’ll need more than just individual skill to overcome the challenges; communication, trust, and close crew coordination are the keys to victory.

Uplay account and Uplay PC application required for game activation and installation.
A permanent internet connection is required in order to play the game.

  • How well does Steam VR withStar Trek pick up on the Rifts controllers? Only tried Subnautica through Steam VR so far and they did nothing. Though not sure if they were supposed to do anything (Other than basic controls)

    • +1

I don't believe that subnautica has support for motion controllers yet.

Maybe try the Lab first (it's free) if you're weary, and read up on whether star trek differs between the Oculus Store and steam. I would suspect not, and I play with rift users on other steamvr games.

    • +1

Haven't tried it on Star Trek yet but most steam games work fine with the rift as Steam officially supports the Rift now. Steam lists the games that support the rift and Star Trek is one of those.

Played about 10 games on Steam VR without issue but I know there are some games out there that have issues. If a game has issues with the Rift controllers then it doesn't list Oculus Rift as supported.

    • Thanks for the replies! I was just a bit worried that I had incorrectly set up my Rift on Steam VR, as I had a lot of trouble getting it to work in the first place (Nvidia Control Panel > Steam VR Software set to use Nvidia card, not intel graphics). I'll definitely look into everything mentioned!

  • Seems overpriced at even that much but maybe thats just me.

  • nice one will add to the collection!

  • This game was an amazing coop experience for about 4 hours, then the content ran out.
Keep this in mind when buying.

    • This is the unfortunate truth with VR games so far. Most enjoyable games I have played are great but the amount of content is lacking. I can't wait for more developers to enter the VR market.

      • I'm not sure how difficult it would be to add VR support to existing games, but I would pay for VR ports of old FPS games. Would love to play Half-Life 1 and 2 in VR.

        • Whilst that would be nice, I am holding out for games designed specifically for the VR. The use of touch controls and motion tracking is what drew me to VR. I am content playing older games with a gamepad if they arent optimised for the touch controllers.

        • @Rochie: Old FPS games with touch controls and motion tracking then. Would love to be able to look down iron sights , lob grenades, etc.

        • @flaminglemon: Yeah I feel like once VR becomes a bit more popular the bigger devs will start creating/porting(redesigning)games for vr. Just not at that stage yet.

They should remake Bridge Commander in this way.
