Coles is definitely making it easier for me to fund my domestic flights that's for sure.

Yes!!! This again!!! Sydney property I'm coming!!!

      Turd is that you?

      • Is Turd’s twin brother :)

        • +2

          Twin sister!

          My followers are increasing!!

@Turd: You can share a studio apartment with citygal.

        • +1

          @Turd:

You should all pool your savings together to buy Sydney property.

  • +6

Geez $5.95 purchase fee?!?! Next thing you know it will be $6.95 then $7.95.

    • I know, it's terrible. Well this week they have 2000 points for Coles MasterCard gift card that chargers $5 purchase fee

      • so in total, we are getting AUD 4.05.. hmmm…

        • Not if you open a few Flybuys account…

        • @citygal: I got 4 cards under one household but it says "once per flybus household" :(

        • @h4zey:
Put in different emails and that should be fine. Just put in your family members' name rather than using ur own name.

        • @citygal: Even if to use a few accounts it's hard to get the money out of flybys account because it needs a physical card and you need to give them household address for the card. I had one extra account with 2000 points in it and there were no way to redeem it without the card. So I had to purchase an online voucher for MIX clothing.

        • @superready:
Order a Coles gift card online on flybuys website?

        • @citygal: yeah but need more points (10000 for $50). Hopefully they have 'e'gift card option though.

        • @citygal:
How many flybuys account have you got? I've asked flybuys, you can have as many as you want with same name email and home address.

        • @ausvicee:
You'll need a different email address for each account.

If you don't, you'll have major issues with bonus points going missing and the call centre staff will keep offering to merge all of your accounts.

      • Link to offer plz?

        • +1

It's a public offer - check the Coles catelog

  • Yes!!! I can use my Coles Giftcard to buy $100 EFTPOS card at self-service check-out.

    • +1

You can't do split payment to pay for gift cards in self-checkout now. Unless you have a gift card worth over $105.95, you may not be able to pay by Coles gift card.

      • What can you use the EFTPOS for ? Top up Opal card ?

        • I agree with castaway = ?? Is an EFTPOS card one that can only be used at an EFTPOS terminal? I bought this week's offer - COles Mastercard - with a Coles gift card, and so will do the same on this one, multiplying the savings.

        • +2

Eftpos gift card can be used in where Eftpos is accepted. Most places (not online) in Australia have Eftpos. But if the card has visa or MasterCard logo, you can also use online. Yes you can top up opal card with that

      • Using Physical Coles Gift Cards bought 3 $100 EFTPOS card already.

  • +1

Bonus points can only be collected once per Flybuys household.

I wonder if it means 2000pts in total, or 2000pts once for each type of card (so 4000pts if buying both the EFTPOS and Ticketmaster cards). If you have experience with this from the past, would appreciate your feedback. Thanks.

    • +2

Said 'can be collected once'. So once only.

  • Once only per gift card and per flybuys card.
So theoretically speaking 2000 points once per card.

  • How long does it take for the points credited into your flybuy account ?

    • +1

      1day

Used my $100 COles Mastercard (bought with Coles discounted gift card) to donate to a charity. Nett cost $90, Tax deduction $100! win-win

    • +4

YOU DA MAN! Last year I donated $700 to chairty with my AMEX's and got back $300. $700 to the charity and $300 refund back to me :)

      GO AMEX!

      • +1

Yep got them too. They were great!

        • +3

Did the same with Oxfam and their Amex offer, donated, got cashback and also tax deduction. What a way to do it!

        • @MathNerd: If I pay $100 to charity, do I pay $100 less tax ? Or, does it depend on tax bracket (mine is about ¢30/dollar), so I think I still need to pay $70 from my pocket right?

        • @superready: Paying $100 to charity reduces your taxable income by $100. Therefore, tax is calculated on an amount that is now lesser by $100, so the tax bracket you are in (30% in your case) is the saving you are making.
Therefore, make a $100 donation, reduce the taxable income by $100 and therefore pay $30 less tax.
Of course it'll cost you even less if you take advantage of a Statement Credit while doing the above :)

  • I have a few $50 coles gift cards, and like $10x2 Coles dollar. Can I use $10 Coles dollar then the $50 gift cards to pay?

    • no

  • The offer is applicable on only $50 EFTPOS (as per the title) or on $100 one as well?
The ad says "Collect 2000 bonus flybuys when you purchase ANY eftpos".

    • +2

It is early days so the info is not finalised. Will see once finished catalogue comes out

    • +1

I think that it would be either. Link says "Any" and picture is of a $50. I will be grabbing which ever one is in stock. Good promos, but Coles is really slack in not having stock even on the first day.

      • +2

Yes, I have experienced some stores where first day the stock has not been brought out, and subsequent days, staff has re-stocked. So, check again even if you don't see it on the first day.

  • Hi guys.
Can v use the EFTOPS card to buy online tickets from kets say virgin.
Also does any1 know if in the past virgin australia has put any offer like this on their cards in either woolies or coles ?

    • Only the EFTPOS card that has Visa or MasterCard logo can be used to buy online tickets.

      • Thanks citygal.

Do u know if virgin australia has in the past done any bonus points on their cards in woolies or coles like the 1 jeststar has currently on offer.

        • I'm not aware, sorry. Indeed, I never saw a Virgin gift card for sale in Woolies or Coles (correct me if I'm wrong). You may earn Velocity or Qantas points if you pay with particular credit cards or Velocity global wallet or Qantas wallet?

        • @citygal:
          Thanks.
Its not technically a gift card, but there r virgin australia cards in woolies, like the ones currently jetstar has on offer. I have seen 100$ VA cards in woolies, not in coles.
But never seen any bonus pints on them

        • @Hassan9033:
Oh, my bad. I never saw them having bonus points promotion though (I'm not very aware of Woolies promotion a lot really, compared to Coles promotions). But you can definitely buy a 5% off Woolies gift card from Cashrewards to buy the Virgin Australia card?

        • @Hassan9033: Never seen any Coles/Woolies with VA Gift Cards (I'm in Sydney).

In fact…. I've never even seen a Virgin Australia gift card, ever.

        • @illumination: Ive seen the Virgin Australia GA and Im in Sydney :)

  • Also guys if v buy coles gift card from preeze, can v use that to buy EFTOPS 50$ gift card from coles ?

    • Usually not - depends on who serves you. They're getting tighter with customers using gift card to buy gift card.

      • Thanks citygal.

Thats right. I ws in coles just now 4 somthing else n checked n they said no.
Cn v do this on self serve checkout ?
Also do u know if flybuys ever had any bonus points on for new customers joining.
Like woolies had every now n then offers like 2000 bonus points for new customers joining..

        Cheers.

        • +1

You can get bonus points if someone refers Flybys to you and you sign up with a referral email. But in my memory, it's only 250 points - not as generous as Woolies.

You should be able to use gift card to buy gift card at self check out but you can't do split payment - meaning your gift card should have at least $55 in it. But yet, you need a staff to authorise the transaction but most staff don't tend to care how you pay in the self check out. Again, depends on the staff serving you.

        • @citygal:
          Thanks.
Thats rite, cz i hv just bought this current 55 + 5$ coles mastercard with an existing coles goft mastercard…

  • use self service with cash.
    Cash payment $5
    Coles Mastercard $50

They have problems with if you use cards.

I do this a lot with the 100 and 5/6 fee. Pay 6 or 7 cash and rest card.
Either way this offer doesn't start until next week.

    • Wow are you sure you can do that?

    • +1

Wait what's the purpose of that?

      • The purpose is to use a gift card to purchase for another gift card when split payment is not allowed.

    • So when you mention cash do you mean like physical cash or you can do credit card payment first, then giftcard payment afterwards?

      • first comes then bling bling
        then comes the card

        • I didn't know you can do split payment across card and cash. Will definitely have to try this out. Do you know if this work with Coles Myer giftcards or only Coles MC giftcards?

  • +3

    happy 1000th post

    • +1

      Thanks Savas.

      • +1

Yep I'll give you a "Bravo Zulu" too!

  • found the answer

  • +2

Bought groceries today and buried a $50 eftpos card amongst them. Paid with Physical Coles Gift Cards :)) This is the same M.O. that I used for the prior Coles Mastercard offer. No Sweat!
