$63.30 'Genuine' WD 2.5" Hard Drive with External 2.0 Enclosure (from DealExtreme)

Not sure whether to post this as a deal so figured would post it here.

Put short, dx just released these external hard drives:

They're 'genuine' in that the actual hard drive in them is from WD, but not the enclosure, packaging or cables. With free postage, these make a fairly nice deal. Being from dx, it takes agess to get here so I personally would prefer to buy from Aus, particularly with the warranty concerns.

And if you're unhappy with what you get, you can always throw one of these through their warehouse windows =P

    Don't know if the hard drive will be 'genuine'- remember, this is DX we are talking about here. The packaging and enclosure are definitely fake.

    Smoke grenade would be cool if it was real!

      I find if it says it is genuine on DX it is. It does clearly state in the description (and tries to in the title) that the case is not genuine, so at least they are being transparent.

        Yeahh that's what I thought too. But then again, after reading the product discussions they could be misleading us too- WD doesn't necessarily mean 'Western Digital', it could just be a genuine knock off brand 'WD'

    I am almost 100% sure that there aren't "fake" hard drives (yet). There are only like… 5 major hard drive manufacturers - Seagate, Western Digital, Hitachi, Samsung, and… I think Toshiba?
