EaseUS ToDo Backup Home w/ Lifetime Upgrades AUD$8.27 (was AUD$87.99)

1190
ENDW-74XD

Hey all,

Wanted a nice backup solution and I know EaseUS are a decent company. Found a coupon code supposedly for 50% off but when I put it in it dropped the price from $87.99 to $8.27. Thought I was crazy at first but I have the invoice and product code to prove it. I've tested it a few different ways and it appears to only work if you go through checkout in this certain way (don't just Google EaseUS and try finding the product on their page, use the link provided).

Steps;
1. Use the todo-backup.com link to access the site
2. Highlight the "learn more" banner and then click "Buy Now" underneath (make sure the banner is still on the home version and hasn't scrolled to business version or another software)
3. Click the "For Free Lifetime Upgrade" option (will say $59.00)
4. Enter the coupon code "ENDW-74XD" and the price should drop to AUD$8.27
5. Voila! You've just saved about 90% on licenced backup software w/ lifetime upgrades

EDIT: It appears some people are having issues. Try launching in incognito mode and make sure you're not using a VPN (or use an Aussie one) as I believe it depends on being in Aus.

    • I could see network options when I just did a backup then. Also supports FTP so you could just setup an FTP server on your network and use that.

      • Thanks, Amy kind of network storage will do

  • Awesome…got one. Thanks OP

  • Great find! Worked for me. Thanks OP.

If you don't need those extra features, could possibly do with the Free version and save $8.27.

Any noticeable performance difference between free and home?

    • +2

Yeah - backup & restore speed is only one lightning bolt for the free version versus two lightning bolts for the paid.

On a serious note though, it's worth it just for the support. If you have an issue with the backup you can just contact them and they'll help you out.

  • thanks, you know who you are :)

Free open source block based software. using for years no major issues so far. Use any supported backends. Some webdav ones have issue but for instance mega.nz works flawlessly

Use 2 or 3 profiles with different backends (clone) and be covered.

It is block based not file based so save your bandwidth as well as only changed blocks backed up. Forgot about full and incremental backups as well.

    • +1

They're two totally different kinds of backup software though. Duplicati backs files and folders up. If your hard drive crashes you'll still have your data, but you'll have to set up your OS and all your programs from scratch again.

Software like ToDo Backup creates an image of your system which includes your OS and everything, so if your hard drive crashes, you can restore the system to a new hard drive literally to what it was when the backup was taken - OS, data, and all.

You can also create an image and restore it onto a different computer if you're upgrading computers/laptops for example.

The biggest benefit to backup software like Duplicati is that you can store multiple versions, so if you've accidentally saved over a document, you can revert back to last week's copy if you wanted to.

      • Yes you are right. But I do not care about system as I can restore it easily. most important is data and media like family photos.

For image backup I am using DriveImage XML that can take image online. I am using Windows for home.

        https://www.runtime.org/driveimage-xml.htm

        Free for private use.

So my idea to have small disk SSD for system so I can generate daily small snapshot and large disk for media/documents. backed by duplicati.

Different people have different needs, just shared by way of backup.

        • +3

Great, but simply posting a link to duplicati as if it was an equivalent alternative to ToDo Backup doesn't help anyone who isn't familiar with backup software.

        • @eug:

Why not? It is free access to information. People should know alternatives, even they are different in some kind. I am happy to provide help if required.

        • +1

@xlamik: It was being passed off as an equivalent software that's free, when it doesn't actually do what this software does.

Mentioning it is great, but since it's a totally different kind of software, it'd be helpful to mention the difference when posting. Otherwise people might think the free alternative is identical and miss out on the deal.

    Veeam Agent for Microsoft Windows
    https://www.veeam.com/windows-endpoint-server-backup-free.ht…

    /end thread

This is by far the best free Windows backup program available!

    • +2

With Veeam Agent for Microsoft Windows, you can easily back up your PC to an external hard drive, NAS (network-attached storage) share or a Veeam Backup & Replication™ repository

Duplicati works with standard protocols like FTP, SSH, WebDAV as well as popular services like Microsoft OneDrive, Amazon Cloud Drive & S3, Google Drive, box.com, Mega, hubiC and many others.

      Feel the difference !

    • +1

Even supports my LTO4 tape drive! Yes, I backup very important things to tape and store them offsite.

    • Just took a quick look at Veeam, looks insanely good for a free product competing with pricey software like ShadowProtect.

      There's gotta be a catch.

      • The only catch for me was that the free version doesn't allow for incremental backups. Each backup will have to be a full backup. Depending on your needs, and the amount of backup storage you have, this might be an issue.

        • Incremental backups are included with the free Windows backup Agent (Endpoint Backup). Veeam Backup Free Edition for VMware vSphere and Microsoft Hyper-V has the limitation you mentioned as it uses VeeamZIP to perform the backups. You can however use the Windows Agent Backup on a Windows server or desktop VM running on VMware or Hyper-V and achieve incremental backups.

Is this only single PC backup? or can we install and using the same license on multiple PCs?

    • Yes, the licence is only for a single device.

I just used it (to check if it worked). Didn't actually buy it though

      • Thanks miicah, I don't have VPN and using incognito.. not sure why it isn't working for me :(

        • still works for me. Open up Microsoft Edge, clear browser cache. Copy Ozbargain link, enter coupon code.

        • @overshopper: I tried Mozilla/IE and chrome. Will try Edge now. Cheers

        • @ozzyoi: Nah, not working either.

    • Not sure if it's still valid.. he says:

The simple reason is Macrium, Paragon and EaseUs have confirmed to us that they use exactly the same backup engine in their free and paid software.

But now EaseUS says the paid version is faster than the free version.

    • that's very old test, he's using Q6600 Core 2 Quad and the core engines behind it are probably updated by now and have new file comparison algorithms

  • Anyone know if the lifetime upgrades are just for v5 or all future versions??

Seems like Bitsdujour also selling it but at $20.30USD, http://www.bitsdujour.com/software/easeus-todo-backup-home

the fine print doesn't confirm if it's for all future versions or just all updates for version 5.. argh!:
"Upgrades to future versions of the software will be free for the lifetime of the product."
What does "lifetime of the product" mean. Lifetime of version 5 or all future versions. If they had kept it simple, e.g. "Updates to future versions of the software", but adding the extra bit at the end makes it uncertain.

    • Dunno but v5 is very old. The latest is 10.5 so I'd be wary of that.

  • Read before giving them your $8.27. Many angry and aggrieved customers of EaseUS.
    https://www.trustpilot.com/review/easeus.com

    • As discussed in a previous comment;

TrustPilot is the Yelp of online business reviews. They charge for promotion of a company and will extort them with threats of bad reviews. Hell, TrustPilot themselves have a 1.4 star review on reviews.io and there have been several news articles showing how bullshit they are.

      • More information is better than less. Best to let people decide what information is worthy of their consideration and what is not.

        • Hopefully they keep in mind that people mostly only look for websites to post comments on when they have problems.

If 50,000 people are using ToDo Backup and 500 people are unhappy, those 500 people might start posting on websites and forums saying it's terrible etc. Meanwhile the silent 49,500 people might be totally happy with it - they just don't feel the urge to log in to trustpilot just to say "it works". So when you google search it, you'll see 500 complaints but find nothing from the 49,500 happy users.

        • @eug: Why would you assume that every unhappy customer feels the urge to write a review online?

        • @Chateau: I didn't - that's why I said "might". It was just an example - you get the point.

        • @eug: I get that you made some assumptions to appease your confirmation bias.

        • +1

@Chateau: Cute, but that's not what confirmation bias is.

In fact, confirmation bias actually applies exactly to you, and me pointing out the skewed sample you're drawing your conclusion from is pointing out your confirmation bias.

It is the tendency to search for, interpret, favor, and recall information in a way that confirms one's preexisting beliefs or hypotheses.

You searched for information about the software and linked to a website that has negative comments, without actually reading the negative comments to see if they're valid or not. Is the software bad, or is it just user error or unrealistic expectations?

Several people here have mentioned here that it works fine for them, and more balanced sites like Whirlpool have plenty of real users who are happy with the software.

But that doesn't matter - you chose to ignore the positive reports and instead stick firmly with a site that confirms your bias.

I brought up the point that sites like trustpilot suffer from sampling bias, but evidently you have blind faith in trustpilot because they're paragons of statistical analysis, aren't they?

        • @eug: Confirmation bias is searching for opinions/information that supports one's own view. I have no view of or interest in this software. I merely provided a link to reviews by previous customers of this company.

You rejected those reviews as being misleading by offering a meaningless and baseless hypothesis that inferred unhappy customers "might" write more reviews than happy customers. Thanks for your contribution.

        • @Chateau:

I merely provided a link to reviews by previous customers of this company.

So in your search for information, you ignored real user comments here, ignored known reputable sites like Whirlpool where there are plenty of positive comments, and fully trust a reviews website that suffers from sampling bias, offering no reasons why it would be more reliable than reports by users here and on WP?

Good job with your balanced research!

          https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Confirmation_bias

        • @eug: It wasn't research and my inclination wasn't to provide negative or positive reviews. 57% were firmly negative and 36% were firmly positive reviews of this software, the rest were somewhere in between. That's a fairly balanced ratio. You really should get a cat or a hobby because I can't entertain your penchant for gratuitous arguments any longer. Good night.

        • @Chateau:
          https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sampling_bias

A satisfied customer will just use the product.
A dissatisfied customer will shout from the hills.

A website like trustpilot is a hill.

  • Thanks. Worked fine. Great find

  • Doesn't work for mobile backup? Which is the best generic (not the mobile brand apps) app for Android mobile backup of all data apart from good old Google drive?

  • Tried three different browsers, incognito and normal - price always discounts to $70. I probably didn't need it anyway.

    • +1

Same here, it says $59 but when you click through to buy now it changes to $87 then when I apply the code it discounts to $70 :(
The post is marked Expired now, maybe we were too late.

  • guys think they fixed the bug…. doesnt work anymore, only managed to score 1 license. was gonna buy another one for backup PC. damnnit. they have livechat, looks like some (#*@#$ here reported the bug to them. no loss, back to Reflect Free.

    • I doubt anyone reported it. More likely they just saw they had 500+ purchases and someone clued into the fact that every one was only ~$8.

      • better to sell 500 at $8 than none at $88.

        • My thoughts exactly.

  • Good deal while it lasted. I was using EaseUS Partition (free version) recently as its a lot more reliable & better than Disk Management.

Using this backup software for system backup & selected partitions, easy to use UI
