Nice little weather app, it's free for the first time… probably for a while!

Good reviews and rating.

If the data for Australia is not from the BoM or yr.no then app is useless. Checking now.

      Agreed.

Accuweather are so bad I wonder if tossing a coin might be a better guide to the weather.

A while ago they introduced a "3 month forecast" which no entity in the world is capable of producing.

Turns out they make money by selling users data (even if the user turned this functionality off in the app until recently) so the weather forecasting appears to be of lower priority for them.

Whilst they steal & on sell your data

Why anyone would want to use anything other then the BOM app or mobile website is beyond me. At least they only give your info the the feds. In return you get the most accurate weather. Seems fair to me.

Fish Ranger is the best weather app you will find. It uses BOM data and is set out really well. It was designed for fishing but I use it every day. It's free on Apple and Android. www.fishranger.com.au

  • Thanks TB, will await your research….thought exactly the same.

Definitely different data to BoM. For my location the weekly forecast daily maximum is only out by 1 degree but overnight lows are way off (3-5) degrees. Where I live overnight temperatures are very important so it's a no from me. YMMV.

I will admit it's a very pretty app compared to BoM and would be useful for world travel so a plus vote is given.

      • Thanks for the comments! Handy to know the comparisons. Interestingly enough I used the app when I was in England and temperatures were pretty accurate. Back here I only use weather apps with weather from the BOM.:)

Wet, cold, overcast with a chance of sun…. not too hard to forecast.

        • @supabrudda: luckily when I was there we had 25 days of sun and only 3 days of rain… and two of those days were arriving and departing. :)

@Shads: oh you went to New England in the US then :-P

      You are the product.

    • 2 ways.

If there are occasional ads, its passive adware.

If there are no ads, then promotions like this increases the download count and hopefully good reviews. Therefore when a prospective buyer comes by, they are more likely to purchase. Very few people are interested in purchasing an app that has 100 downloads and no reviews

      • Your personal data is valuable…..

if you're not using pocket weather you've cooked it mates

    • Yep, a good app.

I must admit I really like the BoM's own offering but no widget kills it for me.

Try Aus Weather Australia - 3 diferent size widgets with readings from BOM

Agreed. Just buy pocket weather you cheapskates

  • Willy weather or BOM i use

  • be careful of this mob
they told me it was going to rain and it didn't
    pretty dodgy to me

    • +2

Obviously rained on your parade, sounds accurate to me.

  • Not for the first time. Also not BOM

  • +3

Aus Weather Australia, the best weather app & widget I've used.

  • Another + (halfway into the grave) for W10 mobile live tiles - the BOM mobile site, pinned as a live tile, is so fast and elegant compared to the BOM app on SWMBO's S7.

  • See also the Windy app.

  • Even free, this is a waste of money (and MB)…
