Multiple Users on a Mobile Plan BYO Plan

hi everyone,
just wondering if there is a cheap option out there with a telco to have multiple users on the one account, sharing data and keeping costs down.

Currently family and friends with a bunch of different companies, and the Ozbargain in me got thinking maybe we can pool and keep costs down and benefits up.

Here's the current line up:

User 1 - $60 p/mth inc. unlimited calls/txts , iphone payment included in the $60 (contract about to expire - would like to update handset) - 3 gb data
user 2 - $30 p/mth inc 12 gb data unlimited calls / txts
user 3 - $18 pmth inc 2 gb data , unlimited calls / txts
user 4 - $30 p/mth inc. 5 gb data -, unlimited calls / txts
user 5 - $15 pmth inc 1.5 gb data and limited calls / unlimited txts

so if could get cheaper than $140 with more data , would be a win. do any telcos handle these sorts of accounts? who's best to deal with on this stuff?

thanks so much for the advice

    So currently your 5 users have 23.5GB.

    If you're ok with signing for the Optus 12 month BYO plans:

    4x $25 plans - each service gets 3GB data, unlimited talk & text
    1x $40 plan - 15GB data, unlimited talk & text, 300 international mins to selected countries.

    Total = $140 for 27GB pooled data.

    The only issue is you'd be locked in for 12 months on these services (their month-to-month options are more expensive for less data).

      Total = $140 for 27GB pooled data.

      Or put them all on $40 plans and for $200 get 75GB of data to share!! :)

      (yes more than $140, but still)

      OP If any are students, they can get 10% of their plan. So brings it down to $36/month.

        Yeah that jump from the $25 to the $40 plan is where the real value is at!

    Kogan deal

    Perhaps, you could do this:
    User 1: $16.90 / 6gb
    User 2: $25.90 / 16gb
    User 3: $16.90 / 6gb
    User 4: $16.90 / 6gb
    User 5: $10.90 / 1.5gb

    So a total of $87.50 / 35.5gb per month. A savings of $65.50 per month (43%) and you get an extra 12gb.

    But you'll need to pay for the year in advance…

    • do they allow you to share data on this deal?
      EDIT….asking for others, just realised they use Vodafone network which is not good where i live (country Victoria) - i'd need a telco that uses optus or Telstra networks.

  • multiple users on the one account, sharing data.

    If you have 'data' hogs on your SHARED account, you'll end up in a world of pain as the data gets used up!!

  • i should have mentioned that big data is not really that big a deal to all users, some are elderly so aren't doing much online, thanks heaps for the replies, will look into them and welcome any further updates
