    Absolutely ridiculous value

This reminds me of the good old red bull mobile days

  • +12

The upgrade from 1GB->1.5GB is incredible for light users, thanks for sharing OP.

    • It should 4GB by now. Last upgrade they did, 1GB plan was ignored, where as the rest were all generously upgraded. But 1.5 is better than nothing.

      • +12

if you factor in both upgrades, % wise 1GB got the 2nd most generous upgrade

        1GB->1.5GB - 50% increase
        3GB->6GB - 100% increase
        8GB->11GB - 37% increase
        12GB->16GB - 33% increase

        • -1

          It was 5 to 6, not 3 to 6.

        • +13

          @carlenet:

I think (s)he's referring to the fact that the plan originally started out as 3, then got bumped to 5 and now to 6.

    • My account says 1.536GB.

      • +2

        1GB= 1024MB

        • Ah, yes of course. Dammit, I really needed that 12MB last month too.

        • +2

          @ilikeit: 24 MB.

        • +2

@Gershom: Ah, yes of course. Dammit, I really needed that 36MB last month too.

        • @ilikeit: It's better than other providers that give 1000 mb instead of 1024. It's 384mb for the 16gb users such as myself, and that's quite a lot when it's mobile data.

  • Well I got upgraded from 4GB to 5GB, now to 6GB?

  • o nice. i remember them bumping me up 2gb earlier this year and now another 1gb? nice!

    • +20

Yup! I signed up to the medium plan when it came with 3GB data. Never expected it to double within a year! Best part is everyone including existing customers get it. I swear that isn't the case with most other telcos who usually shaft existing customers.

  • +9

Just checked my wife's account and yes it's upgraded from 1 GB to 1.5 GB. This guy is genius, knows how to keep his existing customers happy unlike VAYA!

    • +4

You mean amasim. They own vaya. Btw I left vaya months ago got kogan. Have never looked back!

      • Ohh I didn't know that Amaysim owns Vaya! Yeah same with my wife, switched to Kogan from Vaya! Bought the 1 year plan which is the cheapest now. I will switch to Kogan too once my contract ends with Vodafone.

  • +5

    Thank you Kogan Mobile!

  • Is this only for the 30 days psckages snd not for the 365 days ones?

    • +2

      Everything.

      • Ooo crap didn't see the coloumn on the right, ty tho

        • +2

You mean left? It's getting late isn't it, Krispyy? :)

        • +2

Omg yes I meant left fml it is getting late my bad

  • +4

Was wondering why I got that second text message tonight. Thank you Kogan!!

  • Thanks Kogan 😁😁😁

  • My teenager will be pleased to get an extra 0.5. Also husband on medium, so now 6gb.

  • +5

Make you wonder the margins being made by some if Kogan can do this profitably.
I've still got 6 months left on my 365 plan but would happily add another 12 month code if I could.
Seems a pretty proactive way to reduce SIM slutting. Gerry could learn a thing or two from this mob.

    • Basically this just means Kogan will have a more congested network. They can cram as many customers as they want.

      • +3

        Actually it's Vodafone's problem…

        • My assumption is that Kogan and their network have limited bandwidth to be spread among customers. Is that untrue?

I assumed the relationship would be like Telstra with its resellers. Telstra offers them only so much bandwidth, which they oversell. That doesn't affect Telstra.

        • @jazoom:
I was unaware Telstra did this with their 3G/4G service TBH.
Do you have a link for this?

        • @dan76n: https://www.whistleout.com.au/MobilePhones/Guides/Cheap-Tels…

The are heaps of MVNOs in Australia. I don't think we have a nationwide network that DOESN'T sell to MVNOs.

        • @jazoom:
Thanks for the link but it doesn't mention anything about bandwidth?
I know Telstra doesn't sell their 4GX but but my understanding is that if in the case of Kogan if they were to oversell it would be for all Vodafone not just an allocated part of the Vodafone network?

      • +1

Vodafone seems to be the least congested network…

        • Oh really where did you see or hear that? The last time I tried Vodafone I regretted it due to the call drop outs and bad reception so I've avoided any deal. Although in saying that Optus hasn't been too good in my area lately.

        • +1

@billybob1978: I was just on Kogan, switch to OVO recently and i got to say, the reception for Optus is horrible for me. On the Bankstown line from Dulwich Hill to Central, 4G just doesn't work, no internet what so ever. The reception for vodafone was not that great in this area too but at least it work, even though a bit slow.

        • @highdealer: Yeah okay thanks. Might time to consider voda then. I'm over west in Canning Vale and yeah internet is pretty bad here too.

        • +1

@billybob1978: I swap sims each month. Voda > telstra > Optus.

          I'm in Newcastle though.

        • @Bellpop: Same in Brisbane. Optus drives me crazy, and my contract with Optus will end this month. I tried Kogan for one month ($5 deal), can I go for the 365days now?

      • -2

Did you think Kogan has a network? LOL!

        • +2

No, but I can say that I did if it would make you feel better.

        • @jazoom: It would, thanks.

        • +2

@Gershom: I did think that. Just now. Just for you.

        • @jazoom: Cheers mate, you're a leg end.

        • +1

          @Gershom: :-)

  • +1

Hi guys. Planning to switch to Kogan from Vaya.

What is the service like considering its using Voda?

Customer service in case on any issues?

    • Did it, about the same as vaya, since they both have a Voda-Optus agreement…

Never called customer service buy Vaya it sucks too…

    • +3

I went from vaya to kogan too. Best decision ever. Id only called vaya due to billing or data breaching issues.

With kogan id have no issues as you pay once and id never get close to the data limit despite me youtubing on my daily commute to work. Even with 12gb before, i never got close to the limit after being with them for a year

    • Service is great in Canberra, but, well, it's Canberra.

Customer service is good, with short waiting times, but I've had problems with them.
They changed my email in a call, but made a typo, locking me out of my account.
I called and asked them to fix it, they asked for my code, I said I wasn't sure what it was so they reset it and sent the new one to the email they entered incorrectly, then said they couldn't change my email without the code.

In the end, I needed a signed statutory declaration scanned and emailed to them to correct the email they made a mistake on.

Also took them a week to transfer my number from an old sim I had with them, when they said it'd be done within 24 hours. To apologise, they added 3 days to the last month of my year subscription, when I was still only on the first month.

  • Yes, been upgraded, excellent!

My plan will be expired in December, if I buy the 365 voucher same plan and recharge, is the new plan will expired on Dec 2018 or Sep 2018? Anybody knows?

    • +1

i think you will need to wait until your plan expires, i am not sure if recharge works, you might need to change sim port back

      • Thanks, will send an enquiry to Kogan today.

        • +3

You need to wait until your current plan expires. I attempted a few days before my last one expired and lost those few days.

        • @kokomo1978:

          Many thanks!

I think I will wait until next promotion. It may come every 3 months I guess. :-)

    • +1

I'm pretty sure it'll be sep 2018. But I've read somewhere that they may credit you the remaining balance if you recharge earlier.

      • Thanks mate!

  • +2

Cool, thanks for sharing, I had the 85% data used message yesterday and woke up to a 50% data used and thought that it was odd.
    Nice one Kogan.

  • +1

For any VAYA customers like me, you can get a price match
    https://www.vaya.net.au/?option=Vaya-Price-Beat-Guarantee

    • +3

I tried that with the 365 day (5gb plan at the time) and they refused to. This was in March when I told them I was going to change to Kogan. Their stance could have changed now though

  • +1

    Nice one. Thanks Kogan!

  • Thanks

  • +1

Does unused data rollover to the following month?

    • +4

      No it doesn't, unfortunately.

    • +5

If you read the last line of the like 500 word text you would have read this lol!

  • THIS, is the kind of thing that ALL mobile companies should be supplying.

  • Excellenté señor Kogan! Now have more data than I'll ever need; more leway is always good.

  • -5

The 16 gigs works out to be 44 a month.. I'm paying 27 bux a month on 15 gig with optus. I'll pass thanks

  • +3

Ruslan is going from zero to hero. Means there must be some hope for Donald Trump.

  • I use one sim for my phone and home internet so this is very welcomed. THANKS RUSLAN!

  • +4

Thank you Kogan Mobile for increasing data for existing customers. Thank you ozbargain community for recommending this when it was 30% off back in Feb.
I'm now addicted to youtube videos on my mobile data. LOL

  • +1

    Excellent value.

  • I was just about to go over 10gb and it's my birthday today thanks Kogan 😂

    • +1

How does one go over a fixed cap? 🤔🤔 Happy birthday!

      • +1

Just meant I was close to hitting the 10gb limit, thanks :)

        • +1

Haha just messing with ya ;) Have a good one :))

  • Gotta love Kogan!

    • No love for Dick?

      • Kogan Dick or Dick Kogan?

  • Got the 365 day deal on sale, came to $20 for 10 gig a month. Now this. God bless.

  • Thanks Kogan…

  • My current Kogan 365 deal ends in Nov, should I get this voucher now and apply it on 30th Sep? I guess I will loss month and half of credit but the thing is Kogan is not guaranteed to have another sale in Oct or early Nov. This might be the only discount deal before my previous Kogan deal runs out.

    • +2

Comments above suggest you can just talk to a rep on live chat to refund the remainder you lose on your current plan.

      • Thanks for the tip. Hopefully they will implement a feature for users to stack recharges.

  • Is this deal still active? The site prices seem to only reflect the original price despite the header saying it ends on the 18th?

  • do kogan use telstra or optus network?

  • I have no idea why I haven't switched to Kogan yet from my comparatively small $40/10GB Virgin monthly rate yet …
Cheaper and more data to boot.
