Polaroid UHD TVs suggestions please

I have been looking for a good but cheap Uhd smart tv and today just saw polaroid uhd smart tv at big w website. The price seems to good for a 50" uhd smart tv but found some mixed reviews on the web about the brand. Does anyone have this brand Uhd smart tv?? Are they good enough??

  • Summary:, if you only want TV experience with a secondary sound system, it may be fine for you

I have a very recent purchased 55 Polaroid TV, but not the smart one. The picture and tuner are fine. Takes a while the start up and go through the logo display etc. The remote is not complex however a smart one may be

I also use it as a computer monitor, and run sound from TV into Sony 5.1 sound system via optical out and provide 5.1 sound from computer to Sony also, so can't really comment on sound quality other than it works and will do stereo.

However on the gaming side it has a habit of showing black screen when resolution changes from uhd back to 1080, which due to poor eyesight I have to use for web browsing or text is too small, this necessitates a manual stitch to a different source like hdmi 2 etc then immediate switch back to computer (Hdmi 1).

If I run computer at uhd no change is needed. Havent played any uhd content via bluray as I can't find any cheap and my net speed is so slow I cant Netflix uhd type content. However older bluray seems to upscale without problems

As do computer games meant only for 1080.

    • How is input lag is it noticeable and also does this tv have HDR? This seems like my dream tv if it ticks all boxes. Thinking of buying a tv for my room for computer monitor usage and a console.

Oh and btw if you want to test some UHD material maybe try YouTube I know they have 2k footage up already and I'm sure there is some 4k footage up there and the elsewhere also.

      • I don't notice lag but remember I'm using a i5 4670 PC with a 3 GB 1060 discrete card and such rather than a console.
Has HDR, but remember I do NOT have the smart TV mine is
        the 55" uhd lcd TV

        PU-553016UHD

I'd check all the blurbs about what consoles work with 4k and what have problems up-scaling.

Like me you may find the need to switch between sources after resolution changes, its not a deal breaker but a pain, if you're eyesight can see tiny text and you run at max res it should be fine

As I mentioned my net being so slow I can't stream 4k content using Telstra air wi fi from air hotspot at max 200 KB/s

          Try this http://4ksamples.com/puppies-bath-in-4k/

          Direct download link: http://downloads.4ksamples.com/downloads/PUPPIES%20BATH%20IN%204K%20(ULTRA%20HD)(Original_H.264-AAC)%20(4ksamples.com).mp4

Download it and play it later.

I'm doing it now to see how it handles on my 2k screen android tablet.
