(PC) Rainbow Six: Siege $18 @ EB Games

120

The scruffy but loveable underdog shooter on the market; at a fantastic low price. Cheaper than the Starter Edition (where the operators each cost much more), and it coincides nicely with the launch of the Blood Orchid season of content!

  • this game gave me a neck pain.

    • Use the keyboard keys to lean mate ;)

the "lean" screen looks weird, i have to tilt my head.

  • That's subjective that this is the best shooter on the market.

    Good price though.

Aaaaaaand the loss of content too. So long Yacht and Favela.
Can you imagine new players going from Favela to Theme Park in their first games, they would just shut it down and never tough it again; far too confusing.

    • Fine by me; both Yacht and Favela were hopelessly terrible maps compared to the rest. I've been having a lot of fun with Theme Park so far! Has a great creepy atmosphere. New ops are awesome, too.

Bartlett is the only map I don't like. I thought Yacht and Favela both offered things none of the others did.
With 18 maps still, there is no shortage of options though.

Your original comment of "best" stands true to me. Love this game.

        • Y'see, I love Bartlett! Yacht and Favela certainly brought things to the table, but they are either aesthetically dull/uninspired, or unbalanced af respectively. Glad they're going to rework them.

    • Wait, so how does it work? Does this game have some operators/maps locked out unless I buy extra dlc?

      • +1

No, all the operators and maps are free. The maps are unlocked for everyone, and you gradually unlock more operators with the in-game currency that you earn for playing matches of PvP or PvE, as well as the training missions. The base game operators are all very cheap, but the DLC one's are more expensive and because there's so many more available now, it will take some time to unlock them all.

Having said that, there aren't any operators that are considered terribly OP or unfair; every one is viable in the right hands.

If you'd like to skip the grind, the season pass is available at a discount on uPlay at the moment, too, which will instantly unlock all of the Year 1 or 2 operators (depending on which Pass you buy).

        • $40 aud is the cheapest for the season pass?

        • @mp3police:

You can only get Season 2 pass now. To unlock all of season 1 as well, you would need the Complete edition.
It's on sale with Humble Bundle at the moment - https://www.humblebundle.com/store/tom-clancys-rainbow-six-s…

Big difference to this price, so hard to justify for many.

        • @mp3police:

For the moment, I honestly think you'll have plenty of fun using the base operators. If you're having fun, you'll likely play a good amount and so you'll have enough renown to start buying the DLC ops.

There's already plenty there to occupy you while you wait for another sale on season pass, which just ended on uPlay unfortunately.

      • Don't buy season pass, just unlock by playing.

        • All well and good for people who play very regularly, like myself, but if you only have the time for a few hours a week it'll be a real struggle.

        • @OfTheOverflow:
True, but the map Knowedge required by new ops means new players would be better suited to maining rook or doc, Thatcher and thermite for the first 50 hours anyway.

        • yeah I already bought it, been following the game for a while now

roughly how long do you reckon it'd take to unlock, say, lesion?

        • @ozbjunkie:

          Doc?
Doc is rarely useful, whereas Mute is always useful, even more so now with dual drones and an increase in Fuze usage.
While Doc can be a huge help, the cases that can be applied are too small.

I always advise new players to start with Rook and Thatcher as neither get picked enough in casual, and are always helpful, even if you can’t be.
Then Mute and Thermite; Thermite seems to be getting picked less often since last update.

I love how this game can change so massively with a couple of new operators and some nerfs/buffs.

        • @snuke:
Doc depebds on your roamers coming back to room, many seen to just trade… Doc makes a decent Roamer if you have a 3 speed support

          Can always use a mute

        • @snynx:
350pts per 15 min game, need 25k total. So 25 hours allowing for a few losses. If all losses… A long time, maybe 50 hours.

That's a nice hostage you have there, be a shame if someone were to.. Fuze it..
