Best price for Captiva ltz 2017

Hey guys,

Looking at but a Holden Captiva 2017 ltz 7 seats. new. Just wondering if anyone has purchased one and at what price. Seen the for sale for around $33k to $36. Also wondering how much on that price I would expect to haggle down.

I'm sure I'm going to hear people opinions on the car but that's the car my family needs and immore looking at how cheap I can get it new.

Thanks ks in advance.

    DON'T DO IT!!!
Cheap now, expensive later on when it experiences catastrophic engine failure at 80,000km!

Every car has a terrible story heard from somewhere. I believe every brand produces lemons here and there, doesn't mean the whole model is no good.2 family members and a friend have this car and are very happy.

      • I drive a captiva as well and is serving me well…but would consider Nissan or Hyundai brands (just cause of general feedback from public and mechanics). Take a look at Xtrail and Santa Fe as well before deciding…Captiva isn't that bad but the other 2 are better in my opinion

        • Have you got the ltz 7 seater?

        • LS 7 seater

      Oops lol :)

      • But it deserves it!!! :)

        • Yeah, later models have significantly improved, but there's still better/bigger cars out there that should be looked at. Captiva just can't fit 7 adults comfortably, it's a thin car.

Side note, not with Holden anymore :)

          Congratulations or commiserations????

          @tomclancy:

Lol was my choice, Toyota now :) Closer to home, busier, boring but better quality cars :)

Side note, at least with Holden & Suzuki we used to get hotties in the yard, not so with Toyota lol

        • @Spackbace:

you dont like the older ladies? ;)

  • I don't want to jump on the already moving bandwagon here but I rented one of these vehicles last week through Budget for 3 days. I would strongly suggest you rent a 2017 Captiva from a car rental company and drive it around for 2-3 days before making your purchase decision.

I think it depends what you are used to, if you are coming from a mid 90's cheaper style car, its probably a limo, but if you're used to say current holden commodore standard or above - you may view the captiva differently.

My 3 days behind the wheel: Noisy and sluggish steering, weird steering sound at near full lock - like high pressure fluid rushing through a small space? My 1995 EF Falcon used to make this noise. The carpet trim was coming away from the side panel in the passenger foot well. Keyless start (good feature) requires you to manually find and use the key remote to actually lock the doors (you cannot lock using the door button) - makes a mockery of the keyless theory, does a great kangaroo jump wheelspin between 0-5km/h then has zero power. Ever tried changing gears in an auto using manual shift and realising it take .5 of a second for the car to actually change the gear, not sure what sort of transmission it is but the gearbox tech is old and sluggish. The auto headlights only poll about once per 20 seconds so they take 20 seconds to come on - so driving through tunnels is fun when the lights come on near the end of the tunnel. The car I had only had a few thousand k's but also had an under body knock at slow speed, like a loose muffler touching something on the underside of the car. The cruise control is fiddly and comparatively difficult to set.

Anyone remember the Holden Epica which was also a rental car standard offering a few years back - probably from the same stable as the Captiva - a very similar car in many ways.

For $30-35k for a 7 seat car, its cheap to buy, but it is a "cheap" car….Hope this helps.

    Called Craptiva for good reason

Not to sound like a broken record, but the Captiva is a piece of crap. There's a reason that so many people will tell you to avoid them.

Yes…. all makes have the odd lemon, but the Captivas and Cruzes are known to have a much higher than average "lemon" rate.

    Don't do it.

Why don't you have a look at the [[insert any car not a Captiva or Cruze]].

please add Focus and Fiesta (with PowerSHIT).

One of my mates bought a new Fiesta (ignoring my advice) and transmission failed in under 8 months!!

I dont own this car. Better to avoid the Crap twins (Captiva, Cruze) from Holden just like (focus and fiesta ) from Ford.
Please check this guy's videos :). He is a dick (but funny though) and may be heavily biased towards Hyundai/ Mazda.

    • Just for reference OP, the guy doing these reports is a Mechanical Engineer.

I have had two family members working at Holden dealerships in the recent past and both have said how many Captivas and Cruzes come in with issues.

    • That guy really hates Holden, way too much. Did a Holden employee bang his wife or something?

  • They don't nickname em "Craptiva" for no reason… A quick google search will net you a plethora of reasons of why not to buy them…

  • You looking for a family vehicle? You can't go wrong with a Camry.

I am also looking for 7 seater and I prefer new honda crv 7 seater. I know it's little expensive but very reliable for next 10 years atleast. I also driven Nissan xtrail st-l which is excellent but only thing I don't like is emergency break is on foot instade of electronic otherwise great car and it will be same price as your budget.i think you should try them out as well.

    • the footbrake is a bag of shit however its in use in other cars (notably mercedes) so IMO its not bad getting used to… we've had (unfortunately) mercedes and xtrails for over a decade (or more!) so its not a big deal
