70

Got this in my email:

We have just received notice from Qantas that our October shipments have been delayed due to a backlog in their system. Unfortunately, this means that some of our new releases will be delayed this month - deliveries are due to arrive from early next week.

As our way of apologising for any incovenience this may cause, we've decided to reduce prices on several major stock lines from 12:00pm Friday 22 October until 12:00pm Monday 25 October. Discounted prices will be displayed on our website.

The sale will be 25% off RRP for the following items:

  • Board Games
  • Card Games
  • Family Games
  • Jigsaws
  • Roleplaying Games (excluding. Dungeons and Dragons)

Sale prices will apply both in store and on-line.

Games listed as 'Coming Soon' are excluded from this sale, although our regular great discounts still apply.

Only a few hours left!

  • Quite a few interesting games that I've not come across. It's a pity that there is a lack of reviews (or links to reviews) and many don't even carry a picture.

    • You can find reviews of lots of games on boardgamegeek.com

  • A lot of the risks are only avaliable for backorder. :(

    • You can backorder at the sale price though. You just don't know when they'll arrive.

So sad…Even with the cheap delivery and 25% off, it's still cheaper to buy what I want from the USA, and that's including the high shipping rates.

    • Just curious, where do you buy from?

The games I checked out were certainly cheaper than Games Paradise, but considering they aren't cheap, that's not much of a gauge. XD I don't think Toys R'Us has Arkham Horror…;)

Anyone who's ordered before — how long did shipping take? And for those lazy to click, shipping fee I got was $5.50 normal, $7 registered.

      • I've been shopping around for the card game, Bang! recently and because it's not too heavy/large?, the shipping isn't too bad. (When I mean too bad, I mean the total cost still comes in underneath the price of buying from local dealers.) I'm still likely to buy from www.worldatplaygames.com soon - they have weekly coupons so you're pretty much guaranteed 10% off their listed price.

However, I checked the game you mentioned, and the shipping is $44.50, so it's definitely cheaper from milsims.com.au.

I also came across http://www.seropeco.com.au/index.htm during my search, but they don't have your game. I think their prices are similar to milsims' regular prices.

Other sites that might be worth checking out:
        http://www.timewellspentgames.com/content/home.php
        http://www.coolstuffinc.com/
        http://funagaingames.com/control/main
        http://www.fairplaygames.com/
        http://www.boardsandbits.com/

Note that I can't remember which have reasonable shipping rates and which don't. There were one or two that were charging high shipping costs, but in my case, there were other reasons why I ruled them out - confusion over the edition of the game (mainly the fault of the publisher for not clearly distinguishing between editions)

But yeah, just to clarify, board games in those larger boxes probably won't be cheaper if buying from overseas once you include shipping. Plus I don't know how long it will take to ship.

    • yea i want to know too

      • I've ordered through them on and off for over a decade. Most times I got stuff in about a week.

    • That's simply not true. I say this as someone who has bought extensively from both Milsims and US sellers (mainly Thoughthammer).

Postage costs as much as the games (sometimes more, sometimes less) and it only really becomes cost effective if you fill a box (buy a single game from the US and you're up for $40+ P&P before you even start). Milsims has the postage cost included and you can easily order just one game if you wish.

Also it varies by games. I've bought some significantly cheaper here and vice versa.

The recent rise in the dollar may change this but the change is only temporary as local prices will change to reflect the lower cost.

      • Um…please note that I said that "it’s still cheaper to buy what I want," with the stress on the "what I want". My statement was true for the product that I wanted, and was never meant to be interpreted as a broad statement regarding all games.

I agree with what you're saying about postage, and I refer you to my follow-up post. I'd suggest you read more carefully in the future before calling anyone a liar.

not a bargain, toysrus is the same price at full retail.

first thing i searched was cranium family edition

    • Yeah, they have the benefit of being a large retailer. Which category are the board games under? I tried navigating that site but tired of trying lol

    I read this "Muslims 25% off…"

"As our way of apologising for any incovenience this may cause, we’ve decided to reduce prices on several major stock lines"

or to make up for projected income?

  • Eh, extended until midnight! And I'd put an order in already…

  • Good price on blank wood cubes. Can never have too many cubes
