    Joke post?

  • I'm actually after a big mat for board gaming but there aren't many around. What do people generally use? Would rather something a bit wider.

    • I bought a magic the gathering one from a local game store. It's been excellent.

    • I bought one of those puzzle mats and just roll it out. Not great, but cheap and better than nothing. Going to upgrade to a table instead of looking at play mats.

      • I'm using some of those 4ft folding tables you get from officeworks at the moment. I have some felt over those but I feel I need something more than just felt. I'm a compulsive sleever and the sleeves a getting stuck a little. Right now I'm using a couple of largish mouse mats which are OK. Im thinking of getting a couple of really large ones but would rather get a really nice mat like the ones you see people use online.

While a nice big table would be nice, I don't think it's that practical right now. As is the case with mats, it seems that purpose built tables aren't that common in Australia yet. I guess the Australian market is either too small or immature for that kind of stuff?

        • There absolutely are places you can get a table made, but they're not cheap. I'm building one at the moment and when it's finished it will have cost me about $800 (though wood has gone up since I purchased it) and taken me about 40 hours, including research, testing, picking up tools from friends, etc. It's not great, but it's better than a kitchen table and we're using it to figure out what size we want to get one professionally built at.

if you haven't discovered Temu yet. do it.. perfect for this kind of …

I don't think I'd like Temu. Doesn't sound like my kind of store. I rather spend more for something really nice.

    • LTT desk mats come in all lots of different sizes, pretty pricey $30usd + shipping, (still cheaper than this deal) but haven't found anywhere else that lets you pick the exact size you want.

      • Looks good. Do they ever do sales? Shipping isn't great but I guess these things can be a bit bulky.

        • Haven't seen sales on desk mats. Very rarely do free shipping. The last deal was buy a screwdriver and get free shipping on the whole order.

          • @rainbowunicorn: Thanks. I'll just have to check in from time to time I guess and make sure to check during the usual sale periods in the US.

  • 115 for a playmat wtf
