Can we post it that early? We don't know the price tomorrow.

    • Correct price jacking hasn't started yet

      • They are not Australian seller so there will be no price jacking. Coupon code is confirmed on news so it’s not going anywhere.

      • Ausluck will no doubt

    • If price gets jacked up tomorrow, let the neg-fest begin?! In any case, even with ~95% positive ratings, having a read of the ~5% negative reviews don't give me much confidence to buy from them.

      • +2

        99.5% *

        • oh, I'm too sleepy lol but even then, those reviews don't sound great, they sound like the usual grey import ebay issues.

        • +1

          @Ultraman:
Yeah lots from random places. From China, UAE, Mexico. Opened boxes, probably customer returns etc. Not confidence inspiring even with the fairly low percentage.

    • Price remains same

  • +2

You could buy it now and pay tomorrow!

    • not a bad idea for the 8+ as current stock levels are low

  • Am i the only one who hates this stupid "edge" hype?

    • If you mean the curved screen it's stupid and rather annoying i had the Galaxy s6 edge for a year and hated it by the end love my Galaxy s7 though.

      • +2

Exactly that. I have got a S7 edge and the edge annoys me every day more and more.

        • Ditto. I'd love my S7 edge to be the same size but actually flat. I could get a glass protector then.

        • @Spectator:

There are plenty of glass protectors available, even some that fit properly. I have ditched case and screen protector and bought a silicone full body cover which covers the screen too. Love it

        • +1

@dosada: silicone full body cover that covers the screen too? You'll have to link me an example from stopping me thinking you have your phone completely encased in a gel sock.

    • +1

You migh be going to the Cutting Edge. Note8 (using) has less 'Cutting' Edge. Works well for me (from Note4).

      Galaxy Note 8 Apple! ;)

      • I was looking forward to the Note 8 but with this display it's not an option for me

  • would this phone be similar to shopmonk grey import phones? i.e wont be able to use australia samsung pay etc

    • +1

If Samsung Australia are only allowing Australian phones then yes. I think you can install the XSA firmware on them and they work fine, but not sure that helps with Samsung Pay.

Why not Android Pay? I've had a Samsung S5 (and an S3 before that) and never really understood what Samsung Pay even is besides another mobile payment method. Surely Android Pay is the one with the biggest share and therefore most likely to work the best?

      • im just curious on compatibility with AU networks and features. just weighing up on whether to purchase AU notes or imported one. definatley look into android pay. i just noted someone said in the previous post grey imports would miss out on some features.

        • +2

I got the S8 plus dual sim and flashed it with AU firmware, Samsung pay works as per usual.

        • @huey:

thanks huey, good to hear. any idea people saying we cant flash other grey import phones? is it due to different chipsets?

        • @PreSsieGuY:

Maybe it was an issue in previous models but I've tried it from the S6 and above with no issues.

        • @huey:
does the dual sim feature still work after flashing to an AU firmware?

        • @PreSsieGuY: i have linked a review on previous post in description

        • @googoogaga:
Yes, no issues. Only drawback of the dual sim is you lose the SD card slot.

        • @googoogaga: yes, i purchased galaxy s8+ from QD ebay store, installed XSA firmware, dual sim works as well as samsung and android pay. XSA AU firmware also enables wifi calling.

        • +1

          @b4rgainhunter:
how hard is it to install XSA AU firmware?

        • @huey: would you receive updates automatically or have to update manually everytime?

        • @onyxx:

You can schedule it to check each night or set to manual

        • @googoogaga: very easy, lots of instructions online.

        • +1
      • +1

Keep in mind US Samsung phones have different CPU's (Snapdragon) so Australia firmware won't work I think, so no Australian(Exynos) samsung pay for US phones.

        • +1

This listing says "G955FD" which should be the Exynos version.

        • @Shonky: HAHAHA was about to edit my post but can't now that you commented!! Yeah just saw its global dual sim which is Exynos so it should be able to have AUS firmware, if Australia gets a dual sim version.

      • +1

I have the S8+ international model from China (SM-G955FD) and can confirm Samsung Pay works with my Westpac credit card - I just bought coffee with it!. No need for the XSA.

  • +7

The Note 8 will incur GST costs on the way in since Customs will calculate it based on the invoiced cost (which shows up as the original cost of $890 USD or $1125AUD.

    • +1

Yes, a trap for young players.

    • Very good point. Note 8 needs to be removed from the post.

      • Remove seems a bit extreme. Maybe just the price clarified/something in the description of OP?

        • +1

Remove it from title at least unless it can be stated + import duty in the title as well.

Or do we assume everyone who buys from clicking through and applying the code, will not be mislead because they read the entire OP and/or comments?

        • @Ultraman:

          Remove it from title

          Yea I think that's fair..

If it was highlighted in the description + stated (as it is at the moment) in the title I think that would be sufficient.

  • i was also thinking about import taxes on this. definitely kills this deal. great for those who want the dual sim variant.

  • Note 8 Dual SIM can be flashed to xsa?

    • No.. different hardware set up (possibly even different CPU) so you'll screw it up majorly if you do this.

  • Has b28 in note 8?

  • So you can pretty much add another $110 for GST to the Note 8 price. Still ok but not sure on warranty and not sure on having a snapdragon 835 Note 8 in Australia as may be hard to get repaired.

    • looks to be exynos and dual sim, may even be able to flash to aus XSA firmware

      • XSA does not support Dual SIM function and is a different motherboard/hardware. Good luck with not bricking it.

        • There are plenty of reports of dual SIM models working fine with XSA firmware (S8/S8+ that is)

        • ive flashed a grey import s8 dual sim with XSA with no issues, i assume note 8 would be the same? i'll need to do some research first for sure

    • +1

No need to be unsure about warranty, you can be confident that there is no warranty.

I doubt you will receive a snapdragon version though, seeing as it usually costs more vs the international version there isn't any reason those outside the US would stock it

  • If most of these commentators read post where I have linked to previous post for review they would already have their questions/Claims answered.

    • You are right, but I skipped it when the link was to a review and not the previous post. And yes, I now note the review is in the previous post.

With nearly 50 positive votes now for this post now, I would be looking for more positive reviews from the Ozbargainers who bought from the previous deal.

lol i can get the austrailan stock with the preorders bonus for that price :P

    • Can you tell me how?

    • Yeah, where?

      • employee price :)
        970 note 8 35% off

  • I want a S8+ Coral Blue by the end of November….. But I think I would pay extra for an Australian Phone.

    • +5

      You spelled v30 wrong.

      • haha how would I get one of those :o

  • Why is AU version so expensive? I know you get a warranty and peace of mind, but the difference is vast.

    • We have higher tax rate on goods than countrys like Hong Kong

      • What a load of crap. 10% GST is charged to the consumer and there is no tariff for the import. They know our top end market can afford $1600 and that's why they bill it at thtm

  • Anyone know if this seller is reliable?

    • Read post description

    • We only have one positive review from one Ozbargainer even though there are lots of votes for the price at least :)

    • My s8+ arrived two days ago (took 6 days total), flashed it with XSA, everything works. Checked it out before I flashed it, was a Arab Emirates model, sealed box. Sim slots work, IMEIs all check out. MicroSD no issues. AKG earphones came with cheapo plastic tips, sounded mediocre - swapped them with foam tips, sounded much better.

Edit: The power adapter is a BS-1363 for Great Britain.

  • I might pick up the s8+, aside from flashing with XSA firmware for AU and possible warranty issues is there anything else I need to be aware of buying a grey OS model?

  • Might sell my Woolworths Mobile S8 and get the S8+ on this deal. it is great :)

  • +1

Something to consider it will come with a USA power adaptor. QD_AU seem to get a pretty good wrap on here and they are $50 more. I'm checking what adaptor you get with them.

    • I got the overseas model's adapter with my S8+ (from QD_AU). 2 parallel connectors (US type i think). Phone was from HK.

  • What is the difference between the SM-G955FD and SM-G950FD

  • This or wait for LG V30 + 4 months for price to drop below $600?

  • I am a bit sceptical because I bought the LG G5 as grey stock and the maps were awful. I tried everything to update them and still nothing. I am scared that it will be like this on the Samsung Galaxy S8+.

    • The "maps" of what? There are no "maps" permanently built in to Android devices.

      • Well the GPS wasn't sufficient. It would always mess up and never move/send me the wrong way.

        • Sounds faulty rather than anything although of course with a grey import it's harder/impossible to get warranty

        • @Shonky: Is it really difficult to get warranty? I found cheap insurance called Trov. I use them to cover my current phone. Not sure if they cover eBay sales though so I would have to check before I buy.

  • If I order two S8+. Will I incur GST?

    • +2

Order twice instead of buying once

      • oh jeeeez!!

  • cash rewards??

  • I tried for Note 8 and it says this code cant be applied.

    • Using paypal? Australian address?

  • US address

    • Can’t buy with US address

      • changed to Australian address and still it doesnt work for Note 8

        • How about your paypal address and account is it Australian? Your bank card?

  • just ordered one! how do I check for cash rewards?

    • They will send an email within 7 days i guess
