Running Android Apps on Windows 10 Laptop

I know I can look on Google for an answer, but don't know which one of those I can trust, so I'll ask the great community here instead. Is there a way of runnng Android apps on a Windows laptop? I bought a Lenovo 900s from one of the deals o here, and would like to use some of the apps I have on my Nexus phone on the laptop in tablet mode (mainly because the Windows apps look pretty shoddy and have limited choce).
Thanks for your assistance.

use bluestacks? but I think your current arrangement is fine

    Install Linux?
Bluestacks works as mentioned above, but it's not really practical to run mobile applications on a laptop.

I've wanted a solution for this for ages. Unfortunately there's nothing super yet. Best options today are the likes of Bluestacks/Nox Player. You could also try Phoenix OS which isn't terrible.

I hope Neverware's CloudReady gets Android apps in the near future — then that'll be the best option.

It really depends on the apps you want to run. If they are basic games that don't need high spec hardware, then one of the emulators may work (like bluestacks). If you are trying to run apps with things like DRM (e.g. Netflix) then you'll have trouble.

It's not too hard to try though. Just Google for Android emulators and read some reviews.

Virtual machine with Android x86 installed.

As others have said, there are emulators that could be used if you had to get access to some specific program (e.g. a company form app or something), but nothing suitab;e for general use that won't frustrate with poor performance or unexpected incompatibilities.

VMWARE Android x86 runs pretty nicely on my older hardware, so should do OK even the CoreM CPU.

Try Remix OS, I think you can set it up for a dual boot. Might not be as convenient for you though if you have to switch between. http://www.jide.com/remixos-for-pc

Edit: and some info on how to dual boot. https://quickfever.com/dual-boot-remix-os

You can also run it from a fast USB drive if that helps, and means not having to stuff around with partitions etc.

im running leapdroid, doing the job fine

Memu. Its the best performing android emu that I've used, however it might not work for certain apps as its based on Android x86, and uses the Virtualbox engine, rather than actually "emulating" an ARM android device.

Another suggestion would be Nox. Runs quite well on older/slower processors compared to bluestacks.

Dual booting is also an option but both of these are kind of annoying to switch between unless you leave an emulator running in the background (which can use a lot of ram/cpu depending)

  • Thanks for all of the replies.

Basically I downloaded a number of apps for my little one to play with (things like ABC kids and Disney). I would like to run those on the Yoga as well due to being a much bigger screen than my phone.

I'll have a look at some of the suggestions and see how I go.

    Cheers!

There's also mirroring software such as mirrorgo:

Whatever shows on your phone/tablet shows on your pc screen.
