  • Just in time to use when you're flying on your 2 for 1 China Easter flight over this lovely village: http://mashable.com/2017/09/18/qr-code-field-china/#JLHVE8UO…

NB: Most Android devices come with a QR code scanner out of the box

I've had tons of Droids and not one of them has ever come with a QR scanner.

      • Try open your camera, hold the home button then tap what's on my screeb

        • That's not a proper QR code app though. That's just a new feature introduced with Google Assistant.

  • Bixby as an example has this built in.

    • Bixby is by far the most useless button and overall app/feature I've ever encountered and I change phones every 3-6 months. ie. Nexus 6P, Google Pixel, iPhone 7 Plus, Xperia ZX Premium etc etc.

      • That's great…… It's worked pretty well for me. I mean I can't do things on Google Now or Siri that Bixby does, so that's something.

I'm coming from a Pixel XL btw. If you actually know anything about Bixby, you would know it doesn't take over from Google Now. In certain things I have found Bixby to be very helpful. It's tie in's to the device are far better than Google or Siri which just tie in to your accounts/online services.

        • I think my overall opinion is due to the lack of options for Bixby, on the S8+ it's easy to knock the button with no option to disable it etc. Tad annoying.

        • @XioamiGuy: Yea I turned that off. I call it like I do with Google Now etc. I mean Google now doesn't even have a button….

I am actually liking the button now though. Don't have to say "Okay Google" or "Hello Bixby" and sound like an idiot, I can just press a button. Also this stops my phone from waking up when I say random things that Google thinks is "okay google".

        • @OnlinePred: I hope the next update for the S8 has a feature to disable/change the button command.

        • @XioamiGuy: Mates s8+ got the app update a few days ago. It's an app update for Bixby not the OS.

  • An essential app for every android device? Like Twitter I guess

Not this again. Just use the Google version.

    • Google has a QR reading app / function?

      • +2

        Yeah, it's called Google Goggles

Thank you. Didn't actually work for me though…. last updated May 2014…. was completely non functional on a Samsung S7e. Maybe if you're running an old version of Android it would still work.

        • @Rhubarb Jones:
Yeah! I tried Goggles a couple nights ago and it didn't work for me either. Maybe it is being abandoned… I hope not though, I always liked it.

      • Yeah

BTW, the dev's other app "Bubble Level PRO" is showing up as free as well instead of $3.99

I have not used either of these apps yet but I will definitely download both now and try. Cheers OP.
