Avoid This eBay Seller, Oz_deal - Nightmare Experience - Any Thoughts on How to Get My Phone Back?

This Ebay seller oz_deal gave me a run around for a year.

They said that they would reinstall software to fix an issue with a phone I bought off of them. They said send to their office in Melbourne but as I worked nearby I decided to drop it off. I went to there store and was told I could not drop the phone off but would have to post it to them as they actually operate out of Hong Kong. I then sent it with registered post.

By the time they got back to me, after I had to contact them a number of times, 6 weeks later they said that the warranty had now expired and that I would have to pay $60 for repairs. I argued that we have an ongoing conversation that they would make the repairs, a simple reinstall and send it back without charge.

They then ignored me for roughly 2 months and said that it would now cost $80.00.I was then ignored for a further month while making all the same arguments and trying to engage eBay and Paypal who would not get involved in the issue.

They later argued that they never received the phone and I had to contact the postal company to provide them with proof that they had in fact received it, which they simply didn't agree with.

They have been rude, deceitful and a complete waste of effort. They have effectively stolen my phone.

    • thanks for the sympathy, just a dodgy seller it seems.

      • This Ebay seller oz_deal gave me a run around for a year.

Was going to mention to file a Charge-back through your Bank, but the transaction was probably more than a year ago.

  • Cheers for the heads up, will try to keep in mind in the future to stay away.

You passiveness allowed this to happen, you should always make a claim within the paypal claims time with any issue like this. Why did you wait 1 whole year then post about it. If you were more proactive this wouldnt have happened.

There a heaps of dodgy sellers on eBay, would never buy a phone from them.

  • Unfortunately it's not that difficult to 'reseal' an old phone nowadays.
