Flights to Stockholm.

I have found flights to Stockholm with Singapore Airlines, leaving Sydney on 24/6/2018 and returning on 30/8/2018
They are $1019.
29 hours one way and 35 hours on the return. I am happy to hang around the airport and go to the pool etc. (Especially if they still offer the $40 for flying with Singapore).
Is this a good enough deal to book now?'
I think if I lock it in I should get cheaper or have more choice in accomodation, than if I wait for a better deal.
We will stay in Stockholm for 2 weeks then travel around and return for the last week (4 grandchildren there)
The booking company ( through I want that flight )is My Trip . Com
I have never heard of them.
Has anybody booked with them?
Be nice I am a senior.
Thanks

  • I haven't used mytrpip.com myself but there are comments here on ozbargain that indicate that it is fine. another online travel booking site.

$1019 is pretty good. - I'd be well satisfied with that price. and singapore is a decent airline (I just did Bris-Beijing 2 weeks ago)

there are occasional fares from norwegian air . like this current deal to London https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/326928

    • Thank you. I have flown Singapore too and have found them good. Think I will book. Really appreciate your answer.

  • I've never used MyTrip, I much prefer to book through airlines direct. I'd be wary about that price, the same flights on the Singapore Airlines website is $1766, so that is a huge price reduction. Which to my paranoid mind is ringing alarm bells. Even Skyscanner is showing the cheapest airfare for any airline (which funnily enough is Singapore) is $1674.

    • Thank you. I think it is very inexpensive for the time of the year. . I went from a link on I want that Flight. That was on Ozbargain this week..
I thought because they seem to be legit they wouldn't have a dodgy booking site on their site. I even checked several times that it was Au $.
Now I am in 2 minds. I did look on Singapore site as well.
      Will sleep on it
Thanks for answering and checking .

      • It would be strange for that to be the inexpensive time of the year, because European summer is peak season, I thought, could be wrong.

        • Hi, it is peak season . That is why I am surprised. It is on Skyscanner too. I don't like peak season but that is when I have to go.
          Thanks

  • While in Stockholm i recommend to take the ferry trip to Helsinki. Overnight to Helsinki, 7hrs at the city then 1 night back to Stockholm.

Silja Line is better IMO and you can get 4 person cabins from $100. Better cabins with seaside window from $250 or so. Food and shopping in the ferry is quite cheap as well :)

It's practically cheaper than staying in hotel in Stockholm :P

Also, beware the taxis in Stockholm, prices are not regulated and they charge arm and leg if you don't haggle. Finnish taxis are fine.

  • Thank you. I will be doing the ferry to Riga this time. I have done the ferry from Helsinki to Tallinn.. Stayed a few days and came back overnight. It is only about 2 hours but you have a cabin and stay on the boat until morning. We bought the breakfast box. We wished we had waited and grabbed something in Helsinki. Thank you for your help.
