    Maybe you dont need a lighter weight oil. Maybe you change oils frequently that running a full synth makes no sense.

  Semi-synthetic isn't really recommended- means youve got to replace it more often.

    If you change the oil according to the log book service intervals why not? Unless you intend to go a bit over or push the engine hard.

      Exactly, for most typical cars driven "normally" and are serviced on-time, semi synth is perfectly fine…
