Any reviews or opinions on these?

Have 5 of these. All work as expected, handle fast charging @15W and data transfer on my S8+ with no issues.

EDIT: Use the link M9 posted below to save 50c.

Buy one from GB to hedge earlier purchase

        • I like your thinking!

    • thats got it

  • Are they actually safe to use for USB-C?

Amazon review by Benson Leung (search his name, he does a lot of Type-C compliance testing) shows it to be safe, correct pullup resistor etc here.

      • Thanks, I am just worry because I heard some bad USB C cable may burn devices.

        EDIT: Ordered from Gearbest.

        • It's mainly the issue with overloading the charger, as the device is trying to pull too much current.

        • @donnot:

So Quick charge phone on a non quick charger should be OK, right?

        • @superforever:

Yep. Most phones with QuickCharge nowadays negotiate and charge at a higher voltage like 9 or 12V rather than the standard 5V anyway, so the phone will detect it as a standard charger.

  • so im thinking to stock up this, as my next phone would have usb c port, but i have few micro usb already at home.
any disadvantages using this adapter? (charging time wise) - the adapter will be plugged in permanently to the cable.

i think this is a cheap way to get usb c cable rather than buy new usbc c and throw away the micro usb?

    thank you.

    • No disadvantages that I've observed. As per my comment above, handles fast charging @15W and data transfer on my S8+. I bought a heap to just store in the car, room, bag, by the PC etc for use with Micro USB cables or if I'm out and need to use someone else's.

      • yeah not many have usb c in the office, if i have new phone i will need to have adapter ready
