      11.11 is unary.

    • Everyone can use some banggood indeed

      • But we can't discriminate the asexuals

I get what you did there, others obviously didn’t

  • Ew, non rechargeable batteries

    • +11

I much prefer AAA or AA batteries for these devices so they aren’t waste when a rechargeable battery dies. Agree that coin cells are hopeless.

      • one more reason for non rechargeable is.

I put a few eneloops pro in my Switchbots that I keep outside. after about 4 or 5 recharges, they had some rust on them. not huge amounts, but enough that I am concerned tiny holes could cause them to heat up and go wrong when charging. had to throw them out to battery recycle.

I put alkalines in them now. not worth paying and ruining eneloop pro's at their prices.

if indoor you can use eneloops no problem.

        • you need Inox

        Exactly why I meant mate!

Adds GST. AU$23.42 for 2Pcs Xiaomi DUKA Atuman TH1

Was cheaper. US$12.33 in Aug 2024.

  • I have many xiaomi. but in this situation I prefer Switchbot and their great price and accurate sensors. I can confirm their sensors are the most accurate, even between units I bought 6~12 months apart.

don't need to get the hub either btw just bluetooth all sensors to the app and you can record temps just can't sync or see live temp when you are out.

one thing I forgot. the equivalent to this, with bigger display, humidity happiness meter, from Switchbot is not sold in Aus (not sure why).
I got the kit with one Pro unit and one displayless external sensor from Amazon.com for about $60. battery life meant to last 1~2 years. worth every cent.

Suggestion, Include a link to the ones you bought/recommend.Takes the guesswork out of things for those that are none the wiser.

      • sorry I actually thought Switchbot was well known for their accurate sensors. didn't think to link to them.

    • @n3ck3ntry8bort0rgasm could you link to the devices you bought please?

      • My guess would be these SwitchBot Meter Plus or via Amazon

      • +1

sorry just got around to getting on ozb now.

This is the one I have the most of. bought them all for under $20 on amazon during regular sale/price drop.
        https://www.amazon.com.au/SwitchBot-Thermometer-Hygrometer-A…

as Borg linked, the Plus is slightly larger, with bigger numbers.
        https://www.amazon.com.au/SwitchBot-Thermometer-Hygrometer-T…

here is the Pro which isn't on Amazon AU, which is very similar to the Xiaomi in this deal. I got it with outdoor sensor for around $60 incl delivery. you need a Amazon.com (US) account though not sure if you can make one right now, I had one from ages ago.
        https://www.amazon.com/SwitchBot-Thermometer-Wireless-Humidi…

and I can confirm the Pro and Outdoor sensor pair to each other without the hub. no hub is required to use these products unless you want smart home features and check temps from anywhere with your phone.

        • no hub is required to use these products unless you want smart home features and check temps from anywhere with your phone.

just to be clear. I use them without the hub, which means all sensors pair with bluetooth to the phone app. when at home I can check current temps of all sensors on the home screen (sometimes for a sensor that's far outside, I need to walk to the window just to get in range), and quickly download the graph/history if needed by tapping into each sensor.

the only thing that the expensive "hub" does, is the hub pairs to the sensors just like your phone (because of this, I think the BT range is still an issue, you will either need to place the hub in a very specific spot, or bring the sensor closer if it can't connect), then sends all the data to WiFi so it is syncable and viewable live from the shops. also some autonomy smart features if you have a fully smart modern home. I have no need for that so it's not really a paywall for me.

    • Switchbot and "great price" don't fit together as far as I know. Maybe they got deals recently.

      • I don't use them with the hub. it's the hub which is usually the most expensive and you only need it for smart home stuff or checking temps when you are out, which I don't need you get the full graph and history of temps/humidity (2 months worth memory) when you tap in with BT anyway.

I think for a unit with accurate swiss sensor the prices are great at under $20 each for the regular ones. I have a few of the basic square ones around the house, never look at the display just check via BT with the app.
I was more than happy to pay $60 for the Pro + one displayless outdoor IP65 sensor. and this was just buying on the spot didn't wait around for further discounts.

Bangoods prices are out of control these days.

Sales are still good, but ive long stopped doing broad shopping there.

  • Any recommendations for a temperature sensor that can be integrated into Home Assistant?
