  • Says contains ads??

    • +1

Link in the description is for ad-supported version (it's missing a '2' at the end), the link in the Go To Deal is the correct one.

      • Yes please refer to the "Go to Deal" link… the description in the post is a copy and paste of the Google Play description which the developer would have linked to the version with ads.

    PRO!

STAY AWAY AMATEURS, ONLY FOR PROFESSIONAL FLASHLIGHT GUYS!

    • +12

Finally, as a pro flasher I needed this.

    • +6

As an amateur/hobbyist flashlight user, I'm not 100% sure I could operate this. do you think the feature set would be friendly enough for at least basic use from someone without advanced qualifications?

If not could you suggest a good course to undertake, part time or online would be preferable.

    • +2

Man, if only Google was good enough at code to put an easy way to flashlight into Android let alone the pro features this baby has. This is a 100% must have app for anyone that hasn't worked out that their phone has a way to turn on a flash!

      • +1

They have for years in the quick toggles of stock Android.

  • +12

I could have sworn this said Fleshlight Pro…

    • +2

Lol when I was typing the description to the deal I initially typed "Fleshlight"… good think I realised before posting. :)

      • +1

Now we know what you've been searching for. ;)

        • Yeh probably shouldn't do it on the work computer either…….. O_O

        • +1

If you get called into a meeting with the HR Manager, make sure you bring a friend and record it. ;)

        • @Munki: even if it's just for 'a chat' with a manager if in any doubt

    • Tell me. Do 'fleshlights' come with a flashlight built into them as well, as like a bonus side feature or are they strictly for their intended purpose?

      • Asking for a friend..

  • +26

Essential app for every Android device.

I have to disagree with this given that every Android device with version 5.0 or higher has a flashlight function built in.

    • +4

Pfft, functional sure - but this is pro level; whole different ballgame.

You're obvious lack of flashlight app skills make you look retarded - GET IN THE GAME SON!

  • Thanks OP. Got it.

  • +12

Why even need this? Any phone from the last few years should have it native in the OS

  • +13

Haven't most of these flashlight apps been shown to be horrible security risks and to be those most likely targeted for malware / malicious code injection?

    • +1

My understanding is that it's the fleshlight apps that are security risks.

      • +1

Yes, they are definitely targeted for malicious injection.

  • +27

most phones now have their own 'flashlight' built in

    hardly a deal

    • +6

Didn't you see the part where it said PRO ? That means its better than standard.

    • -1

      Free, was $3.99

Hardly makes it not a deal.

    • +7

Yeah, only a fool would pay for this

    • -2

I wanted to have a flashlight as an App shortcut on the lock screen so that I can turn it on without having to unlock first and then swipe down to find the built-in flashlight/Torch. It seems the only way to do that is to have a Flashlight App.

      • +1

Many lockscreens allow this, but more importantly most flashlights DON'T do, because it's the most anything feature ever.

        • I couldn't figure out how to do this on the Samsung S8 because it only allows apps there and the built-in torch is not an app.

      • Check this. No need for a shortcut on the lock screen (if you set up the absolutely awesome shake feature). It's ad supported, but you only get ads during initial setup, not during day to day use.

Careful you don't accidentally throw your phone across the room!

        • Do you know if this app had a significant affect on the battery consumption because it is always on?

        • +1

@Dinjay: I've been using it for the last year, year and a half and haven't noticed any change in battery life.

  • +20

Flashlight app has the following features:
    - On / Off

    LOL

    • +18

      App permissions:
      - Contacts
      - Messages
      - Storage
      - Bank details

      • +2

        App Permissions
        Camera: take pictures and videos

    • +7

Thank god! I was sick of having to buy a new phone every time I no longer needed the flash light on - but now they have a way to switch it off!

      • +1

I always used a piece of bluetac to cover the led when not in use.
While this 'off' feature seems like a practical substitute, the advantages to always on technology make this sound more like a gimmick then anything

    • Yeah… this is the PRO version.

The standard version lacks the ON function.

  • +3

Been waiting for this! Thanks OP. Early Christmas present to myself.

    • +2

Doubt the wife would appreciate you treating yourself to such luxuries

      • +4

I've worked hard this year, I'll discuss with her tonight. Hopefully she will understand.

  • +4

Has anyone tested the SOS signal for emergency use? Is it more effective than triple 0?

    • +2

You're better off with a Samsung Galaxy Note 8 and a blanket for smoke signals.

  • +2
    • Indeed - just don't install it. Android > 4 has a flashlight built-in

    • Article mentions free flashlight apps. This one is paid.

      • Looks free to me.

    • +1

      From the article:

"Fortunately, this makes avoiding this particular app easy: simply do not install any apps from outside Google Play."

The above app is from Google Play.

"To help guard against novel attacks, and the few apps that slip past Google's watchful eye, we recommend that Android users install a third-party security app on their Android devices. Malwarebytes has an offering of its own, and we recommend Editors' Choice Bitdefender Mobile Security and Antivirus."

I'm not sure if that's good advice - seems like the article is pushing a specific security app.

"Take a moment to read through the permissions each app requests, and if you're not comfortable with what it's requesting, search around for an alternative."

This App only requested permissions to access the camera.

    • They're a dangerous industry these flashlight apps, similar to that of the Mafia. Many good people have fallen victim to their deception. One day your trying to take a quick wizz at night, the next your using a flashlight app to see the toilet a bit easier when all the sudden you find yourself alone in a barron wasteland without much more than the pyjamas on your back. You wonder where you are and what happened to your family but then years go by and the nights become colder. From time to time you think about your past life as a regional manager and the Lexus you use to drive, you wonder how your brother is going with his new wife that you missed the wedding for and how their newborn is, you realise it's probably almost graduated from high school by now, a tear drips down your eye. Life can be unpredictable, people. Take the warning. Don't download this app.

      • using a flashlight app to see the toilet a bit easier

You could also detach yourself from your phone for a minute and use the toilet light switch?

        • What kid of a world are you living in that makes that such a simple prospect. I'm shaking right now.

        • +1

          @DonaldDr4per:
Pfft, may as well navigate to the toilet using the stars.

Come on gandalf, keep with the times. No one uses outdated tech to find their smart toilets anymore

  • -2

    Why just why. No deal

  • +5

Is this brighter than brightest flashlight? I want to get the most of my flashlight, and I need flashlight overclocking.

Can this be used as a flash grenade of sorts? Is like to be able to slide my phone under the door on a flash timer and blind a room before breaking the door down and clearing the room

    • +1

      Over 9000 PMPO lumens

  • +1

Someone thought a paid flashlight app was a bright idea.

  • +2

I don't understand why people like this shovelware, android even iOS have a flash light toggle on their drop down / command centre. and some android phones with remappable buttons if you wanted to you can map it to that button.

  • +2

Downloaded it and pulled it apart. Seems harmless however it's tighly integrated into google play services so it won't run without that and makes what is a simple app a 6MB download/26MB installed. Nicely drawn and styled but overly simplistic given this is normally $4 with little room to customise. There was a neato LED numeral font I scraped from the package though.
