Men's Underwear That Lasts

Similar to my last question on socks, I'd love to know some advice on good quality underwear that lasts.

I'm a boxer-briefs man who is sick of crap like Bonds giving way after a year of use. Any ideas? Should I fork out for Calvin Klein's, or do they just look pretty and still break down quick? I'm happy to pay a little extra if I know it'll last.

  • I got some jockey's and they were great until I put them in the tumble fryer, seems to screw the elastic up, same happened with under armour. Apart from that the jockeys are pretty sweet.

    UniQlo Airism Underwear :)

    • Second. UniQlo make decent jocks. Im happy to throw a pair out after about 12-18 months, it means theyve served their purpose and ive got my value out of them. i think theyre about $4 a pair.

UniQlo Airism Underwear is $15 each, it's the most comportable under wear I ever had, so quick to dry, perfect for travelling :)

good fit too. im in japan, ive got various uniqlo jocks, so probably some other types i have are the $4 pairs. $15 isnt bad for a good pair that'll probably last 2 years. if you're playing sports and working in your jocks all day, you can expect them to last not so long. yep great for travelling and keeping clean

  • I'm still going on my Aussie made Bonds from many years ago, shame they shifted production overseas. Still have one unopened in the packet.

Recently bought one pair of AussieBum to try - won't know durability for a while as yet.

      Thanks for letting us know.

  • I'm a big fan of Hanes underwear and socks, but pretty hard to find in australia anymore.

  • Maybe also buy one of those underwear washer bags from aliexpress so easier on your wears when washing.

    I don’t wear any

    • Profile pic checks out

  • My Mitch Dowd boxers have lasted for 3-4 years now. I don't tumble dry anything though, it's all hung on the line (either out in the sun, or under our covered patio). Eventually I find the elastic goes on any underwear, but if I can get at least 2 years I'm doing okay.

  • Don't know what you're doing to your undies mate, but mine last for years pretty much regardless of brand/cost.

  • I have been wearing the same Bonds for a few years now - haven't had a single pair fall apart on me. I have an office job though so perhaps if you were a tradie you would experience more wear and tear…

    • Recently made the switch to Bonds and my life has changed for the better

  • latex/synthetic are good. Ck ones have lasted a very long time without losing elasticity. Probably the same for any brand, just ensure they are made from the same material. Davenport from woolies is also good

  • The cotton boxers from Gap are good (when they go on 40-50% off sale)
    Uniqlo ones are good too

  • I found the Jockey sports ones have been brilliant. Lasted around 7 years already. Made of that lycra-ish material. Bought 10 of them and all still going strong. Unfortunately the design has changed now, so not sure about the longevity of the current ones. Use these every week for gym and work.

I find that the dirt cheap generic ones last years. :o

  • I have a few pair of the Adidas Climalite boxers that I got from Costco that have lasted me about a year with very little wear. They're pretty good to wear under gym shorts and dry quickly if you take them travelling.

  • I'm a sports boxers kinda guy… my view:

Bonds - okay but they seem to lose the elastic pretty quickly and they shrink (I don't use a dryer)
Tradie - terrible. Wore through them in under a couple of months.
H&M - Best I have had so far, not had any issues with them after about a year of use

I've had a couple of random brands like adidas, CK and lonsdale but they were all pretty average as well.

  • Aussie bum seem good, have been meaning to buy more.

  • No one is going to recommend freeballing?
