Was just on whirlpool looking for any good Desire HD deals and stumbled accross this
To be concise.. Pre-order the Desire HD from vodafone on a 12 month plan for $49 cap + $25 monthly repayments.
This should be $888. Which is a pretty good plan to start with since Import cost is $700 from clove. Now if you are NRMA member(there's other companies as well)

You get a 10% off access fees and 3 months free access. This comes to

$49 + $25 CAP ……………… Details
————————- ………….. ———-
$25 *12 = $300.0 ………….. $450
$44.1 *9 = $393.9 ………….. 1.5 GB
total = $696.9 ………….. unlimited 3 and vodafone

EDIT: Some people are getting 10% off even in the handset repayments so get ready to gamble :)

$69 + $15 CAP

$15 * 12 = $180.0 …………. $650
$62.1 *9 = $558.9 …………. 2 GB

Which is an absolute steal right now.
Note that its only valid till the 31st of October and Vodafone only has 7000 handsets from the first order

Hehe note mobicity had ads on the front page for the Desire HD, click on it and price is $869

  • So the whole contract after 12 months will cost $696?

How much do you think you could sell the phone for after that time? I know that iPhone 3G is still selling for about $450-$500 for the 16gb model on ebay used..

    • -1

ill buy it off you brand newfor 550 :P

      • If you willing to pay $620 I'll get one for you :D

      • If you are serious about this let me know. I live in melbourne though.

        • sold mine for $850 @gumtree lolz.

  • I went through and ordered this but I couldnt find where to enter my NRMA card to get the 10% discount? anyone have any luck with this? Do you think if I called Vodafone tomorrow they will accept the NRMA card?

  • Here's the link for SA people with RAA http://www.raa.com.au/more_for_members_partner.asp?TerID=105…
But it didn't mention 12 months plan only 24!!! :(

Enjoy 10%* off the monthly access fee on any new 24 month contract on mobile phone and wireless internet plans.

  • Virtually a HD2 with natural froyo and better camera. I can tell you now goodluck with your battery life. Screen is simply awesome though, and can't wait for gingerbread!

  • I just got off the phone with their telesales and the guy offered me an extra 1 month free on my new plan if I refer anyone else to sign up for this. So, for those signing up with friends/family, take advantage of this!

And spawnpoint, if you're comfortable with giving your name and phone number, I'm sure some OZBers will be more than happy to give you this referral bonus! I'm sure I would've if I'd known about it.

    • Just called and checked,
Rep said that since NRMA discount was already applied no additional referral discount would be applied.

      • That's strange! If you want, try speaking to the exact rep who told me this…"Wilbur" on ext 5504 on the Vodafone telesales number.

I'm not related/affiliated to this person at all, but if there's someone there offering this, then I hope someone can take use it.

  • can some one confirm or deny if you can use your cap $$ when you are roaming on one of vodafones plans?

    • From what I can see,
You can use it for national roaming but not for international roaming also excluded are International Calls while National Roaming
      http://store.vodafone.com.au/vodafone-caps-mobile-phone-plan…

Interesting that the national roaming rate shows
90c per minute for Consumer Plans
      (no flagfall is mentioned)
While Standard calls are 90c per minute + 35c flagfall

does this mean National Roaming is cheaper than while not roaming, or at most it would be the same.

  • Hmm..I don't know where to put my NRMA details to get this offer. I called up Vodafone and they didn't know what to do either. So.. I don't know what to do now..

    • You don't need to put your details for the pre-order. Just follow the link given.
      http://store.vodafone.com.au/handset-desirehd.aspx?company=A…

      Here is a guide:

      1. Click on the above link
      2. Scroll down the page and click 12 months
      3. Click "add to cart" whichever cap you want
      4. It will over your cart and you will see the offers in the cart- ie $49 reduced to 44.1 and 3 months free
      5. Fill in your details and your done
      6. They don't check NRMA details right now, as someone said it could be for everyone
        Good Luck mate
      • Cheers mate, I saw the 10% discount but I wasn't sure if they have given me the 3 months free.
        Thanks for your help =)

  • i've still got 2 months on my Three plan, i called Voda and they said they can waive the 2 months and let me get a new plan. Then they said i can only get the pre-order online, as opposed to through customer service, so i can't get the 2 months waived AND get the NRMA deal which expires in 2 days.

    • how much is ETA and handset repayment… if it costs less than 192 then you can save at least some money.
Bu still sad to hear man

  • Pre-ordered one today :D Thanks for the tip

  • Can someone with experience with iphone 4 AND this please tell me which is better?

As long as there are some fun games and all the iphone functionality on this phone i think i should grab it. becuase if i want iphone i gotta go onto a $39 cap with Telstra for 24 months, i hate long contracts. with this i could use it for 12 months, as my iphone 3G is getting old now, and then probably sell it for $400-$500 when the contract ends.

I need to make a decision this weekend as all the deals end at the end of this month.

  • So if I would go into 3 tomorrow and cancel my plan and hopefully get the fee waived, would I still be able to port my number to Vodafone tomorrow in time? Or does this have to be done through customer service?

    • In able to port your service need to be active so once you cancel your plan from 3 then your number gone unless you bring that number to prepaid then port to this new plan.

      • So if I make an order through vodafone and choose the porting option, does it port the number straight away, or does it do so when I activate the number?

        • the porting happens once you've activated the account, i.e. when you get your phone

  • decided to wait a while since all these new phones are coming out and alot of competition between carriers.

  • Well…after MUCH fuss and numerous follow-up calls, my credit check approval finally came through this morning. The surprising bit was that it looks like they applied the 10% discount on the handset repayments as well?

    "HTC Desire HD - $22.50,
    $49 Vodafone Cap Contract - 12 Months - $44.10, Discount - 10%
    3 months free access+"

I wouldn't mind that at all!!

    • When does the billing period start? Immediately or when you get your phone?

      • It'll be once you activate the account after you receive your phone.

        • you think it works if i don't activate my account until Dec? my current contract ends in Dec.

    • We all got that too. Join in the fun… http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/archive/1563693
The waiting game just begin. :)

Just for your information.. from past experience:
    - Vodafone online system is very fast at taking the order. However, fulfilling the order is a totally different matter.
    - Their customer services don't have proper access to the oders.
    - Getting a update on an order can be quite hard.
    - If you received a discount already, Vodafone could refuse to honour the cashbackco offer (Three did that pretty much all the time).
    - (If Vodafone behaves like Three)… when a mistake is made online (pricing error, multiple discounts being provided by accident), they will fix the error without telling you (basically remove the rebates).

Currently, I am on hold for 1 hour and 20 minutes (still counting) to chase up an online order with Vodafone. They don't even know which department should answer online sales enquiry.

I regret making a Vodafone online purchase. It is worse than buying items on eBay.

    • I haven't been impressed with their CS either, but I don't think that's reason enough to neg the deal.

  • I am a bit concern about this.

    • If you applied with NRMA discount and you are not a member, in the event Vodafone found out (let's hope it will not happen), you could be paying $888. Even if you are member.. it is a bit too good to be true (normally 3 months free is only applied to 24 months contract).

    • Past experience with Cashbackco on Three deals (and Cashbackco mentioned it in the Web site) is that you can only get the cashback if the purchase wasn't discounted in the first place. This is different to Dell, which is quite willing to offer cashback even on discounted items.

Last time I signed up for one of these cool deals (okay.. that was with Three), Three just changed / corrected the mistake. As part of the correction, all discounts were removed (including the original bonus, as well as the referral bonus). Moneybackco cashback also cancelled. I had the printout etc… no difference.. CS refused to honour the deal and said there is nothing they can do about it.

You also don't want to be talking to customer support arguing about this (waste of time). I was on hold for more than 1 hour just to find out the status of my order with Vodafone CS.

Perhaps NRMA members can find out whether Vodafone provide 3 months free on all 12 months plans.

  • Just wondering is tethering free on Voda?

  • Phone arrived…WooHoooo…!

  • Just received mine today - that was quick. I was expecting a longer delay.

  • This is pathetic; there is no user manual supplied with the DesireHD.

I can't find one on the HTC website either.
I just called HTC Support and they told me the user manual isn't ready yet but will be available in one to two weeks hopefully.

I specifically wanted to know about battery charging before use. HTC support recommended I charge my DesireHD battery for 6-8 hours before use.

    • Update on the Desire HD User Manual:

Go to "Select Country" at the top and change to "Asia Pacific Home".
Then you should be able to select the Support tab and find the DesireHD in the list of devices.

Kudos for HTC for calling me back and telling me.
      http://www.htc.com/asia/help_howtos.aspx?p_id=324

    • Update on the Desire HD battery charging:

      Charging the battery
The battery is partially charged when shipped. Before you turn on and start using your
phone, it is recommended that you charge the battery. Some batteries perform best
      after several full charge/discharge cycles.

Only the power adapter and USB sync cable provided with your phone must be used to
      charge the battery.
Do not remove the battery from the phone while you are charging it using the power or car
      adapter.

      1. Plug the power adapter into the USB connector of your phone.
      2. Plug in the power adapter to an electrical outlet to start charging the battery.
As the battery is being charged, the notification LED shows a solid red light. The light
turns to solid green when the phone is fully charged.

When you charge the battery while the phone is on, the charging battery icon
is displayed in your phone’s status bar. After the battery has been fully charged,
the charging battery icon turns to a full battery icon.

    • BTW did HTC support say they gonna send manual book in the mail?

      • nope, they said they'd call me back when it was available though.

  • For initial charge I always charged around 10hrs.

  • Anyone had any luck with unlocking the phone yet?

    • it seems you have the same problem with mine.

Handset Unlock - Handset IMEI Not Found ?

  • pay with amex get extra 10000 points.. thats awesome

    • tried to combine that, but cs didn't allow me -.-

did you get it ? how ? :)

or do you mean by setting up direct credit to your amex ?
from my account, it seems there's surcharge fee if you do that ?
