As long as you can fit through the the turnstyles, so maximum ass width 100cm, or else ask at the service desk.

  • Why is it the perfect and I guess this for anything eftpos related? Can this be used for some online purchases I.e what is it is it a MasterCard or a visa etc?

    • +2

No , only where eftpos logo is displayed

      • -1

So it's like a multipurpose gift card where maybe cash is not accepted or just a fancy $100 note? I am trying to understand what would be the benefit or use case of this item/product.

        • +3

Pay council rates without extra charges. Those with amex can use them to shop at aldi or places that do not accept amex and earn points.

        • -1

@ausvicee: wait is this disposable or can you top it up? How do you earn points on a prepaid eftpos card and what is the name of their rewards program, just eftpos rewards?

        • @AlienC: amex rewards, 3 points per $1 spend at supermarkets. So if you buy $100 eftpos gift card you already get 300 points. I pay rates, shop at aldi and other shops without any credit card charges. Disposable, can't reload and can't use online

        • @ausvicee: wow that sounds good. Question, can you use multiple eftpos cards in one transaction say if one prepaid eftpos card is low on funds? Or is usually one eftpos card only per transaction sorry still new to this while eftpos prepaid card thing I have only been using my Westpac debit MasterCard for maybe emergency quick purchases if even.

        • +2

          @AlienC:
That was what happened to me the other day at aldi, balance on my eftpos card was $1+ short, so i asked the cashier if I can do split payments. He said can do cash + card, but not 2 different cards. So I gave him $2 and the rest on eftpos card. I find it easier to use up cards with small balances using self service check outs, I can take my own sweet time…instead of having 3-4 pairs of eyes staring at me

        • +1

          @AlienC:

I have paid for $500+ council rates, the lady swiped 11 times ($50 cards) for me.

        • @ausvicee: oh ok that is good to know so it's just maybe aldi for now that allows one per customer/transaction.

    • Can be used for any eftpos terminal.

      • What would be the pros over a debit MasterCard?

        • many small restaurants/vendors charge 2% for master but no charge with eftpos.

          Aldi for example.

        • @tajid: oh damn really? Today I learnt.

How about Coles and Woolworths and uh maybe domino's and subway haha lol :p

  • +3

    Brilliant deal!

Lets hope the amount of sports gear i have is proportional to weight loss

  • +1

is Rebel sports going bad..we have had offers on a few items in the last few months

    • +3

The 20% off deals on their high prices still dont make it worthwhile. Underarmor top is $150 at Rebel, $120 from Under Armor online, the actual RRP was $120. Brooks shoes were $280 at Rebel and $215 from a independant shoe store, every day low price. Rebel are expensive and even charge MORE than RRP.

      • +1

Yer, but that have a great range. Excellent for sizing before ordering cheaper online somewhere.

    • +1

It looks like everyone is salvaging a sinking ship.

  • +16

It's a $4.05 profit that requires you to spend money at Rebel. Not sure why people are excited by this.

    • +3

so with wish cards if you buy 10 it is $7 for $100 to spend at rebel, if you don't mind all the effort and factor interests rates

      • +1

        Wait, what?

So you spend $1000 on EFTPOS cards and get $100 free at Rebel. Am I understanding that right?

        • +1

$10 x 10 rebel gift cards. Don't know if they stack but yes technically claim online x 10 I believe for each eftpos card someone please correct me if I'm wrong and you can only claim once meaning only 1 x $10 rebel gift card.

        • +3

yes but you technically earn ~$40 worth of Rebel card only because of the $5.95 purchase fee per Eftpos card

        • @citygal:

If you use 5% off gift cards than it will cost you $100.70 per card so you get $93 rebel with $1000 eftpos

You can use the eftpos to pay you're electricity and gas bills at the post office

        • @easternculture:

Wait I need to get my head around this. You buy the giftcard through cashrewards. Then use those giftcards to buy eftpos giftcards? I thought that wasn't allowed.

        • @easternculture: PSA: If you pay your bills OTC at post offices, some energy retailers will charge a $2 fee (aka Origin). Not sure if this applies to self Checkout terminals.

        • @iSamurai:

They do as well. Tried it a few months ago. It's prompts you that there is a fee charged.

        • @easternculture:

          Wow…… most undeserved neg ever

      • +2

True ozbargaining right here. Wait what's the expiry on these prepaid eftpos cards?

        • +1

          1 year

        • +1

@ausvicee: hmm damn I guess $1000 worth of groceries and etc is enough for one year.

        • +4

Not as good as before. It was $10 W$ instead of $10 rebel giftcard.

Also image the moment when a cashier type 10 barcodes for you instore.

        • +1

@Neoika: that's what I'm thinking, last month at least it was 2000 flybuys points for $50 or $100 eftpos card.

And what if rebel go bust…

        • -2

          @AlienC:

Use the eftpos cards to pay bills at the post office

        • @easternculture: MasterCard has extra fees at the post office???

        • @AlienC:

this one is eftpos so no fees

        • @easternculture: any idea of debit cards of the MasterCard or visa kind incur any extra fees?

  • @Neoika: oh well I wouldn't be doing the years groceries in one go or did you mean purchasing it.. I am sure if it was such a big deal you could just deliver it for $11 extra if it was that serious.

  • @ausvicee: ah ok thanks yeah that makes sense.. Haha as for the staring eyes haha yes I find at aldi there is a lot more pressure to get in and get out than say at like coles or woolies..

    • Which I think it's ridiculous that they charge a fee for cards when sometimes the amount of time wasted with cash surely outweighs any loss on fees.

Several times old grannies have been in front of me counting out their change "and $2 makes it $10, and $2 is $12, and $2 is $14, and $16, and $1 is $17. Oh sorry, how much was it again?"

      Cashier: $17.95

      "and 5c is $17.05, and 5c is $17.10…

In fact, maybe I'll start doing it as well to make a point to Aldi

      • +1

Haha lol do that stick it to the man. Once you get enough other volunteers or followers they may change their policies if it affects their productivity or bottom line enough.

      • Then how waiving the fee will help? The old granny is still paying with cash the way it is. This is not about the fee that she is paying cash.

        • Waiving the fee will maybe inspire more grannies to use a card as it is lighter and easier to carry around then a bag of coins and cash. Obviously if they are very comfortable with just using coins for everything then it won't change a thing but you can at least show them or convince that a card is lighter and faster and some might like that and choose to transfer over from the old coin and cash system.

        • -1

@AlienC: 0.5% for card payment is negligible so I doubt that is the reason for the grannies to pay with coin and cash.

        • @samehada: oh I thought it was higher like a few % my bad

  • Can I buy 10 eftpos cards in one transaction and still claim 10 rebel cards? Or do I need 10 separate transactions?

    • -1

max transaction is $500 for gift cards, so you need to split the 10 into 3 transactions.

  • Anyone know if these rebel gift cards are stackable???
$10 per item off isnt great but stackable would be well worth it

    • +2

You can do that in store but not the online store.

      Discussed here

      • thanks for that,

haventt been into a rebel store for years, and im too shy to go into rebel with 50x $10 cards for saya $500 purchase

now I have to reasses everything,

was going to go nuts on the deal

  • +1

What can you buy from rebel ? Isn't it over price for Ozbargainers ?

  • Most of my locals don't have any or many of the $100 left. Some no gift cards or only have $50s

Dont think this deal would be particularly attractive

  • Dbl

    • I suspect woolies staff buy them first considering they have staff discounts it's a good deal for them too.

      • Still not as good as before.I reckon everyone should boycott this promo by not buying any.

      • I always wondered if the 5% staff discount my friends had a life time ago were still valid but a few ppl have told me staff don't get discounts on gift cards

Can a current staff member confirm?

        • I'm not sure if these prepaid cards are considered gift cards??? Because if they are they may say you can't buy a gift card with another gift card when we try to pay with egiftcard.

  • Can someone confirm if you can indeed buy giftcards and pay for them using egiftcards. I don't want to be stuck buying $1000 worth of giftcards only for it to not work at the self-service checkout.

    • +1

I have done it last year and. This year with the $88 Chinese ny promo

      • Sweet thanks for the reply.

        • -1

As I mentioned above though, max checkout is $500 for gift card, so you need to split them into 2-3 checkouts.

        • https://www.ozbargain.com.au/user/19879 this guy sells it at 7.5% off

        • +1

          @shadOzer:

Yeah but you don't get the 3pts per $1 spend in this case.

        • @tajid: not on the new checkout system, the new WW self-checkout system requires staff authorisation but you can check out more than $500 of giftcard in 1 transaction.

      • Does this work the same for the Visa One giftcards?

    • One Woolworths store stopped me from buying the gift cards today when I said I'm paying using e gift card. I told him I just bought 12 two days ago (at the same store) using self checkout. There were only 2 left so I asked if they have anymore in storage. He said his manager said no buying gift card using gift card. But the system allows.
I went to another store and the cashier did all 20 cards for me without any question.

  • no $100 eftpos cards available i have checked out 3 local woolies stores

  • -1

Can we do CashOut at woolies with eftpos cards without any charge?

  • Warabrook NSW has around 10 left. Paid by egiftcard and all bought under single transaction.

  • claimyourbonus.com.au - not loading for me. Anyone else?

    • Can confirm it's working for me

      • Thanks EC. Works on Safari, not on my Chrome or Firefox. Strange!

        • +1

It worked for me but after the 8th claim it said I exceeded my IP limit then I changed to 4G and completed my claims.

  • OP you might wanna edit the pruchase fee. It's actually $6.95 purchase fee and not $5.95.

    • Are you sure

It was $5.95 when I went on Friday

      • Yeah I just paid for one. I was surprised when I went to pay for it and checked that the purchase fee was $6.95. This was for the black card. I might have to check to see if the others are the same.

  • +1

Ok just a heads up if you come across an Eftpos giftcards that have a purchase fee of $6.95 don't get these one as they have problems with activating at the register. Only get the ones that have a fee of $5.95

    • May i know where you bought the perfect gift card $100 with $6.95 activation is it from Coles or woolworths

      • Woolies in Braybrook

  • Tried to redeem the $100 black eftpos card (6.95 activation fee) but get this error: "The card does not qualify for the selected promotion." Devo. Anyone else?
    Have emailed Black Hawk Inc.

    • Read my comments above. Go back and ask them to exchange for ones with $5.95 purchase fees and it'll work.

      • Thanks @nightelves! I've been told by management that the 6.95 cards are eligible & I'll qualify for the rebel giftcards

But would've been good to save $1 off the activation fees!

  • Wondered into Moorabbin VIC WW after lunch. Didn't expect to see any of these cards since today is the last day. Found 8-9 cards left there. A few are behind some $50 ones. All of them are $5.95 purchase fee type. I got one. If anyone still interested and is nearby, 7-8 are still there when I left.

  • +1

What the hell is this about $6.95 activation fee???
This promotion sounds like a ploy to reduce stock levels of the $5.95 activation fee cards so they can introduce new ones.

  • Is the promo still active?
you can claim before the 18th, but can you simply buy them even today?

    • I bought one today and tried. It said the card was bought outside the promotional window.

  • +5

Those who have got multiple $10 rebel gift cards can send them in email to [email protected] & ask to merge it in single eGift card. & then single gift card can be used online.

    • How did you find out about this? Did you call Rebel to confirm?

      • yes i emailed them & also got mine 10 - $10 cards merged into 1 $100 card.
