  • Cheer op.

I am literally heading to Specsavers now so it will be interesting to see if they offer this to me or if i have to ask.

    • +2

I was in a Specsavers yesterday and the employee I was talking with said I should wait until today to go through with my purchase, pretty pleased with that really.

    • +5

Polarized and anti-glare are completely different things.

  • been waiting for this once a year deal. thanks op

  • Thanks Op. Has anyone had any experience with Specsaves "transition" lenses at all? I'm sick of changing my sunnies/glasses all the time!

    • +6

Do it. I started wearing transitions about 5 years ago and it's the best choice I ever made.
The only thing you may not realise is that they don't work when driving or even wearing a hat, as UV light has to hit the lens to make it darken. If you like wearing sunnies when driving, you still need to have a separate pair.

      • Or just stick your glasses out the window in the sun before you start driving… or after, whichever you want to do - I'm not your boss!

        • +3

They will transition back, so you would have to drive with your head out the window.

          @stublu:
Or buy a convertible & drive with the roof down (kinda makes the total deal rather expensive, though)

        • Or just get your second pair as a sunglass polarised pair to use in car and transitions outside car. Make use of the 2 pair offer.

    • +2

Yes, and I wasn't very happy with the product.
Slow transition time going from light to dark, making me that guy with the sunglasses on inside look.
Plus, in year 2 the transitions didn't fully go back to clear and had a slight tint when inside. This also looks a bit off.
In short, I won't buy them again and will just buy glasses and sunglasses in future.

    • I used to wear transition glasses a lot in the past. They don't work behind windows, must be exposed to direct sunlight. They take a few minutes to fully darken and also there are different types - some only dim to 25% and I think the max I had was 80% which is very close to the common sun glasses effect. They also take a few minutes to clear when you enter a room, so this may be a slight issue. Long story short, after many years, I grew to dislike the transitions.
I've had the polarised from sepcsavers since 3 years ago and they are ok. Though I can't read the train station info screen with the glasses on - the screen goes black. Also can't see my phone screen in landscape position, I have to keep it upright.

    • If you are after a practical solution, gets transitions. But if you want a great fashion look, I'd get sunglasses and separate pairs.

  • Just trying to understand, $199 is for one so if you spend $398 you get this offer, is that correct?

    • +6

Specsavers offer a buy one get one free offer.
If you choose 2 glasses from the $199 range and don't get any upgrades other than polarised lens in the second pair you'll pay $199 for the 2 glasses.

      • +1

        Thanks!! That's very useful.

  • hmm can we bundle this with our private health insurance?

    • +4

Yep! Just paid $75 out of pocket for . 1 Pair Transition and 1 Pair Polarised sunglasses. Prescription for both. Just need to select frames from $199 rack.

      • Thanks!

  • I’ve purchased like 5 pairs of high index lenses from Zenni for a single one of these. Who buys from these guys anymore?

    • +1

I'm sure you could get better value through other suppliers, but as someone who is getting glasses for the first time I appreciate being able to go in store and be guided through the process. This is just a bit of a bonus to go along with face to face service.
