Europe for Seniors - Tour Recommendations

Hi all,

My parents (early 70's) are looking to go to Europe (mainly UK and France) next year. My dad is relatively fit and would be able to do most of the touristy things. My mum on the other hand has hip issues and cannot walk too much. I did suggest a DIY approach but think they would like the structure given in a pre-arranged tour.

I am looking for a tour that would cater to this. From memory when I was in Europe, I remember seeing a number of bus tours which were catered to seniors. Can anyone recommend any or provide any tips.

Thanks in advance

I've done Top Deck, its still aimed at you people, just without the whole "party bus" mentality. I believe they still have an age cap too.

When I went it was ironically 2/3 Aussies, but good times.

I think Trafalgar was aimed at Adults.

    Cosmo is highly recommended:)

Sounds like a river cruise would be ideal for your mum. Bus tours often require 5+ hours of travel time between destinations which can get uncomfortable.

    • Good choice but not cheap. Did Budapest to Amsterdam in June this year; About 17k for 14 nights. Would recommend.

Some operators have specific tours that are run at a more leisurely pace. For example :

Saga holidays in the UK provide package tours for the over 50s worldwide. I don't know how cost effective it would be to arrange from Australia rather than out of the UK i.e. if you can just provide your own flights and join a tour in the country or you have to take a package which includes flights from the UK.

  • River cruise down Danube is perfect or from Split or Dubrovnik in Croatia, luxury 40 passenger boats take you to 7 islands (of 1100) its fantastic (did it in 2015) see Katrina Cruises.
