My Experience Buying Samsung Galaxy S8 from Shopping Square

I recently bought Galaxy S8 from shopping square during 18% sales from Ebay (Deal Post).I bought the phone without knowing that there were lots of people having bad experiences with them and what's more I just realized that they put a small note saying that the package may be opened for random checking. So the next day I messaged them that I want my phone still sealed upon arrival because there is no way I can tell if the phone is brand new if the seal is already broken. After a long wait they reply back saying that their supplier usually need to check the content, which I think is ridiculous as I'm sure Samsung has done their job to check its content. So in the end, I asked them to cancel my order which was before the phone is dispatched, and they reply back that they can give me a new sealed unit so they will continue to process my order.

2 weeks later, I received the package. I opened it only to see that the seal is already cut. I also see some fingerprints on the plastic that wrap the phone. I'm so pissed, because I know this will waste my time dealing with them again.

Luckily, I record a video of me unboxing the package, so I have proof to them that I'm not the one who broke the seal. I started a return request yesterday but no reply from them till today. Anyone have done paypal dispute before? What do I need to do?

Update: They refused to do a full refund and pay for my return postage, they keep insisting that the product is as description(I know its in the description but they already promise me to deliver a brand new sealed unit). I contacted Ebay to look at our case, they said that I will win the case because I have all the proof and they already promise me a brand new sealed unit which was sent through Ebay message.

This has taken lots of my time, I'm still considering to just give up on the case and put ShoppingSquare on my blacklist seller because I'm skeptical that the refund process will be smooth with them even if I win the case.

    Just sell it…! $644 for a Galaxy S8, you should be able to just sell it privately for at least that much

      Probably, will people believe that the phone is still new if the seal is already broken and there are some fingerprints in it?

        Don't sell it new, say you tried it once, chose to use your old phone.

      In my case, I already messaged them that I want a new sealed unit before the phone is dispatched or I would just cancel my order, so I don't know if it'll help you finding out that the seal is broken cause they clearly state that the package might be opened for random checking. However, just to be safe just record yourself, it might be worse than broken seal judging from their reviews.

    As far as I know that is what you get when buying grey import. So accept it or just pay full price from Mr Norman.

      Yep, I reckon that, but I already asked to cancel my order before the unit is dispatched. Then they told me that they able to give me a new sealed unit

      Yeah but why? If they're just coming from the factory surely this checking is not required which means something dodgy is going on. Well that's what I think anyhow!

        As what they said. Check, test, change firmware to global, put adaptor according to buyer country, etc.
        They need to check because cost to return is expensive.

        Anyway, for me, I will 100% don't care. I paid low price already compare with local. There must be something you have to give in exchange.

          If they need to do that, they could at least give option to the buyer whether we wanted them do the initial setup or keep the phone sealed. Well, I don't know about you, but I always buy grey import phone for me and my family, none of them have sealed broken upon arrival.

    Does it work? Then just use it and enjoy. Don't worry about the box and the protective plastic that you'll peel off immediately.

    wait for the seller to issue a return shipping label. use label to return the item and wait for them to issue a refund. then buy a new sealed item without the 18% discount.

    Pretty sure someone posted this video before, but sealed doesn’t necessarily mean new!
