HS100 -
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/232210561037

I've found that these two plugs are cheaper here using the 20% off ebay coupon than anywhere else.

The HS100 is just a simple wifi plug, which can be connected to Google Home and Alexa, however the HS110 has energy monitoring, which I find very useful.

Cheapest Voice Assistant compatible plugs I could find at their cheapest around.

Cheers

Nice find, I've always had issues with TP-link tho maybe its just me

Are these any good in the long run? My belkins have become worthless.

    • How Come, I was interested in the Belkins

    • why have the belkins become worthless? I see alot of their wemo plugs are on clearance around the place

I have a few and they work well. They are nicer looking than the sonofs as well as having the pins and plug the right way around (eg the taller sonofs (with the blue plug) won't plug into a GPO that is too close to the floor. They also seem better quality than the sonofs.

Mine work fine with homeassistant and Alexa and Google Assistant.

The sonofs have the advantage that they are reflashable (with some get-your-hands-dirty technical jiggery pokery) using https://github.com/arendst/Sonoff-Tasmota Gives some really nice functionality like MQTT, hue/wemo emulation, OTA upgrades, …

      • Yeah i have a heap of Belkins and they are 98% good.

  • Works with Google home?

    • Yes, I have two at the moment. Now do I need more…

    • Yep. Works OK, but requires you to have a Xiaomi smart home base unit (or maybe zigbee adapter, but I haven't experimented with that).

      • There are two versions of the Xiaomi plug I think, one wifi and one zigbee.

Home assistant only supports the zigbee one from what I’ve read (and you need the ‘gateway’).

I don’t think the wifi version requires the gateway but I could be wrong.

        • Correct. I accidentally bought the non zigbee one for home assistant. There is a way to get it working but its a ball ache. I have the zigbee version now on order. The wifi one works great though if you want to use the Xioami app

ive got a few of these and they work great with google home https://www.itead.cc/smart-home/smart-socket.html

    got mine from here https://www.banggood.com/SONOFF-S20-10A-2200W-Wifi-Wireless-…

    • I've found that a lot of the Chinese boards and sockets have gates on the holes that only open if you're using a plug with an earth pin. While its great for child safety, it can be a nuisance if you're swapping what's plugged in regularly. Do these SONOFF ones have that 'feature'?

The Sonoff S20 units don't have annoying barriers on the ports, no.

  • native support or do you need to use it via IFTTT or something similar?

    • Not sure about Google Home, but they work with the TP-link Kasa app and/or with Home Assistant. As I'm still tweaking my HAss setup, I'm using both and they both work fine.

      • Sorry are you referring to the Sonoff ones listed by Trantor? If so then sweet as Kasa can be linked to Google Home.

    • Native for google home, Account links to Kasa

    • Google home, Tplink 100HS and Chromecast all integrate very well for me. Link your netflix/Youtube Red and just ask google home to play on your TV.
Google home turns on the TV and plays your movie/ show.

HS100 is cheaper here by $1 at $35 if you can pick up. https://www.wireless1.com.au/tp-link-hs100-smart-wi-fi-plug

HS110 is still cheapest available at this price according to staticice

  • It sounds like the Sonoff S20 does everything the HS100 does… but half the price.

But the HS110 has energy monitoring… do any of the Sonoffs have energy monitoring? Anything else to recommend that does energy monitoring or is this the best value?

    • I've been considering one of Xiaomi's Zigbee ones for A$16.49 as I already have an Xiaomi gateway.
      https://www.gearbest.com/living-appliances/pp_344666.html
      Its features include:
      • Power detection: It can control the rating power and actual power of household electrical appliances
      • Electricity statistics: It can control the electrical appliances power consumption, more scientific and rational to use electrical appliances

Xiaomi also make a wifi version, but I'm unsure whether it has the same features or if it is only equivalent to the HS100.

      • Sonoff has Google Home/Alexa support, Xiaomi don't : (

        • Downside of the Sonoff is that you have to flash a custom firmware to them to use them with Home Assistant etc, whereas Xiaomi you just need to enable dev mode on the gateway.

(I have many Sonoff, and a couple of Xiaomi)

        • @2be8: You no longer need to flash a custom firmware. Sonoff now supports Google Home natively.

        • @nerdinary: Sorry, didn't make myself clear: I mean the open source project http://home-assistant.io

Unless there is some special integration possible I'm not aware of?

  • Does the standby on these negate any power saving using these to turn off standby devices. For power saving reasons. Or are these mainly for turning devices from an on state to off state.

  • I'd love something like this but with 8 or so sockets that I could use either with HomeKit (via Homebridge) or my Logitech Harmony. Would be great behind the TV.

    • Check out this broadlink board
      https://www.zapals.com/broadlink-mp1-4-ports-smart-home-wifi…
The current price looks decent, though I haven't looked around to see what price other sellers have it for at the moment. It's fully wifi controllable with the broadlink app, but didn't do the power usage reporting.
I have one. The only downside is the safety gates on the active pin holes if you're using appliances without an earth pin. That said, a wooden skewer should be safe to activate the gate release provided you know what you're doing and are very careful to only put it in the earth socket.
