  I use mobile doc scanner, and it works great.
  I bought it long ago, got sick of ads and popups in free scanning apps.

  Super convenient to use, a must grab for sure.

  Compass will not require Network/Data.

  Makes me laugh when they tell you that one compass app is 'the most precise'. The accuracy of the compass has nothing to do with the app, it's wholly reliant on the accuracy of the magnetometer (compass) hardware in the phone. These are generally pretty good, but if you've got a phone case with a magnetic closure it'll mess it right up.

  Of course, not all Android phones have a built-in magnetometer, but you'd be pretty unlucky, or have a very cheap phone, not to have one.

  That's a lot of info the MDScan will be sending back to Moscow. Why do they need my device ID and contact list for scanning my docs? Is there any election coming soon? :))

  Compass calibration - sorry to be a dummy, but how do you calibrate?

  Do you calibrate when it shows the calibration message? or when it shows the compass?
  How do you know when it is finished calibrating?
  I'm also not sure what the movement shown in his diagram means - do you hold the phone flat and move the phone in the figure 8 as shown? Or do you twist it?

  OCR should allow you to recognise all the text in a PDF, for example, and copy and paste it into word for example.

  I don't think MDScan has any OCR function.

  I use Google photo scan for receipts, documents. Originally for scanning in photos by eliminating the reflection of the flash by merging 5 photos taken at different offsets, it produces jpg's. If you really need pdf that's another step in another app.
