Breville Barista Touch vs Breville Oracle

Has anyone here has seen/bought a good deal on Breville Barista Touch? Is that a good buy? Is it better to just save a little more and buy Breville Oracle (the non-touch version)?

  • There’s a considerable amount of difference in cost between the two, and as far as I can tell, the only difference between them is the touch screen which tells you what to do. If you already know the basics, I can’t see the touch screen being worth the extra $$.

I was looking into this myself. The Oracle automatically tamps for you and has a dual boiler, so you can brew and steam simultaneously. I will also automatically steam/froth the milk, if you want.

The Oracle has a lot more things you can change when it makes the coffee…. but all of these are outside what you'd want anyway for a a good brew.

I purchased the Barista Touch and it's amazing!

  • First up, I own the base Oracle (semi manual buttons). The touch is basically the same unit, it just automates all the setting 'changes' into touch screen buttons with remembered settings.

If you have the coffee one way only, the base Oracle is fine. Set all the settings to how you like it and you're done.

If you like to tweak coffees as in the froth levels etc, then the touch might be better.

ie you like latte setting, and the other half likes lots of froth. Rather than changing the steam froth settings between each cup on the base Oracle, you could use the touch and set a 'coffee' that has your personal settings.

It should be noted the grinder settings are not automatically controlled. So changing the grind between coffees still needs to be done manually if needed. (normally its set for the beans and forget).

thanks guys. At this time I'm leaning towards buying the Barista Touch. I don't think we would see some deals for Barista Touch soon, but I could be wrong so if you see any deals, please let me know.

  • Good Guys have 20% off on their ebay site till 16th Oct

Anyone tried the coffee from a barista express vs oracle. Had been considering a dual boiler vs barista express.

Updated milk system on barista touch makes it more useful now and at $1,200 price on ebay makes it more palatable on price.

    • Yeah, it's really tempting to buy the Barista Touch. But I'm also contemplating about the Oracle. Is the extra $500 for the Oracle (1,700+ including shipping) worth it?
