Here we have the big brother of the ever popular Xiaomi Power Board.

Not a massive discount, but better than a slap in the face. I figured it would be useful to fit some chunky foreign power supplies that I use.

Limited to first 100 stock, AU and NZ only.

are the usb ports better on this one? also FML i just bought the regular one

    • I think it's the same ports as the other one, 2.1A

      • Yep same as the last one. Better off with going with a dedicated charger.

        • considering how people complain about no QC3 or chargers with with only one QC port this is a lot worse ……..so yeah no substitute flor a dedicated charger.

It looks like a pretty terrible design if you're planning to connect AU plugs that might have a taller/bigger adaptor =\ Plus, the plug leads would be facing each other…

    • It's not design for Aussie market… it's design for Chinese market, recently Chinese electrical goods power point changed design to similar to the Aussie one but upside down.
I do agree it's terrible for oz

  • why would they not make it universal? like the UK plug isnt that unpopular is it?

    • That would be handy to have. Universal sockets that accept every type available.

      • +6

Should be just one socket in the world.
        And one voltage.

        And one frequency band. 28!

        • +1

If that was the case, I'd vote for the UK plug. Simply because of the ease of changing the plug and the internal fuse for each plug.

        • Only one band? Think of all the interference you have have for free.

        • @t25: coming from someone who came from an ex-british colony country, I agree as I do find the UK plug type the best in terms of usage, being the most satisfying to plug and unplug from a socket.
Also most 2 pin plugs doesnt even have a ground pin :(

        • Yeah, but transmitting power across larger distance vs small distance is a reason for different freq/voltage (or something like that). I doubt you want to pay double your power bill for the convenience of a single plug and voltage….

        • +2

          @t25:

They have an internal fuse because of ring circuits, you don't need or benefit from them here.

          Let's use USB-C connector.

    • Standards are difficult to change. It would mean everyone buys adapters or replaces all appliances. The gain does not outweigh the cost.

      • but long term it would be very cost effective.
think in a few years time you wouldnt even need an adapter.
you go overseas and you can just plug your anything into the wall.

        • We'd also need to standardize on voltage.

In the far future it would be nice to have global standards on everything and not need adapters. But in the meantime for that to happen we'd need to start using adapters.. the thing we hate and want to eradicate. Some lucky country (probably America) whose standards are being adopted by everyone will not need the adapters while everyone else has to bow to their greatness. Resentment will obviously ensue. Why do they get to be the center of the universe?

This one has the possible disadvantage that being designed for Chinese plugs the earths face inward, meaning plug packs will probably block the nearby socket.

Is this Aus certified for safe use in Australia?

    • +1

      lolz

    • -1

Valid question. Answer is "no". It doesn't follow Aus safety standards, but it's safe enough to use.

      • +1

Orpheus asks this on every Xiaomi power strip deal, mate :)
And is also generally negged into oblivion.

  • I have this. It's nice and small but know that because the sockets are upside down, if your adapter is long it will eat up the socket below it. Had it been right side up, the adapter would just hang off the edge and not affect the socket opposite to it.

    Standard plugs are fine.

  • Any cheap power boards with individual switches?

  • Stupid question here.

Considering our electrical safety regulation, can you legally sell this in Australia or ship this into Australia?

    • -1

If you mean in a store, you could get away with it, but if something happens, you'll be liable. Not a lawyer. Just guessing.

    • +1

If you intend on selling it in a store then it's illegal. If you intend on using it yourself then it's not.

  • I just recently bought this for a bit less.

Also, there's this power strip that Ive never seen before just come up. A Xiaomi 5 port strip in the same size as the smaller one. Not sure if this is legit
