Similar kind of flashlight. Hamza's 99 cent deal last time. They appear to be the same torch with the same 7 watt rating. Main difference is the previous torch is 1 mode (no strobe) while this has 3 modes (low light and fast strobe mode), and extra bike mount.

edit: looks like it actually includes a mount…. Bikies can rejoice.

Top tip, get the ones that don't have strobe.
Strobe is 100% more frustrating for most of the population.

    • +3

I'd like to think most folk can handle three transitional clicks…

      • My personal experience with these cheaper torches is that this is the point at which they fail. From repeated drops or bangs they appear to break within the circuitry in the switch (as playing around with the switch can get it to work again when it fails)

      • try getting a loose fitting battery connection, and it will keep defaulting to strobe.

Strobe is 100% more frustrating for most of the population.

That statistic is 100% false and I’m 98% sure of that.

  • They appear to be the same torch with the same 7 watt rating.

They look different to me, and this one looks better.
    Who the hell is rosegal?

    • +2

as mentioned before Rosegal are a sister site of Gearbest.

      • Thanks - missed it, though i do try to read everything that i've written myself.

Pick shows black, text says white, but me no care.

You may find max order of 2, requiring two separate transactions.

        If it's what's in the pic they're the best…

      • Does a gearbest login work on the site? Not interested in yet another login, just for this

      High & low?

        oh yer der me.

  • Not as good as Hamza's 99 cent deal last time. They appear to be the same torch with the same 7 watt rating.

Hamza's is only on/off (no strobe)…. mine arrived last week!

Yes. No strobe. It's a very small torch. Here are some pics.

      https://imgur.com/a/D7BUn

I don't have 14500 batteries (lithium) to test with, so this is using regular Energizer Lithium battery. It's pretty bright even just using 1.5 volt battery. I'm pretty impressed with it.

However the beam is too narrow so it's not the best thing for a bike torch.

      • I had no idea what a 14500 battery was until your comment and I googled it. It explains why it's nowhere near as bright as I was expecting (using AA).

        • The 14500's are used for their voltage, not mAh

A general rule of thumb is a 14500 device is going to be more powerful than an AA device.
This is why (even if size permits) you would never want to put a 14500 battery into an AA cell slot.

Can someone recommend a cheap 14500 battery and charger please. I was thinking of these LiitoKala Lii - 202 USB Battery Charger and UltraFire 14500 1200mAh

        • +1

@strikeout119: I have the Lii - 202 & Lii - 500 and both have served my well so far would definitely recommend LiitoKala, great BFYB chargers.

GB's listing states those batteries can't be shipped to Australia. As for recommendations I have no idea, hopefully someone else may be able to recommend a few.

        • +1

@strikeout119: Ultrafire batteries have a reputation for exploding or catching fire. Don't trust them.

        • have twin cree Q5's (with Jaycar sourced 14500/lithium-ions) on my bike.
i did the barest minimum of charger research & decided on a Nitecore i1 EGO (around $9) from gearbest.

      • Just wondering if i can use eneloop batteries

        • Yes you can.

  • I'm struggling to get the code to work

    I want to use paypal

    • Forgot to mention, you need to login (create account if haven't already). Otherwise you will pay $2+ something.

      • Thanks for the info.

        I'll pass.

  • +2

These Ultrafire torches are better than the ones posted by Hamza, the light output is brighter, they are a bit chunkier so stronger and generally a step up in quality. The bike mount is a bonus as it can also be used as a torch mount for other purposes.

  • +1

These are going to be pretty good but definitely not 300 lumens in my experience. Anyway for $2 yes, they're worth it.

  • +3

At checkout (final page before you click "Place your order") you can select to use 8 points from creating a new account to save $0.16 - not very much but it's still something.

    • Yes, brought my 2nd one down to AUD 1.96 (using 28º conversion)

    • Oops, should have read all the comments first! Oh well.

    • I couldn’t see where to do that unfortunately. I might go to work 2 minutes early today and earn enough to cover the $0.16 loss 😉

  • +3

UNTICK THEIR SHIPPING INSURANCE on the final checkout page

Costs a dollar! I got tricked last time

  • +2

Just so everyone knows, the strobe effect is a pretty good defensive item at night. You'd be surprised how very badly it effects vision.. Not even in the same category as just flashing a very bright light into someones eyes.

Ordered one after seeing the screenshot from scrimshaw!

  • paid by paypal $2.26

    • Paid by paypal using bank conversion, $2.19

      • +4

Didn't pay (already have too many torches), $0.00

        • Ah, another /r/flashlight user in the wild I see d:

  • When ordering from these sites is it best to request dropshipping? Is it faster?

    • +1

From these types of websites? Never.

  • Need it but can't order since I haven't received that tail light from 20 September yet…

    • 13/14 business days since then, You're well within what you would expect for chinese free delivery.

      • Nah what I meant to say was that I can't give an untested business more business until they've proven themselves. In this case it's only a few dollars and not a phone but it looks like I've missed out anyway.

Possibly expired: "Error, this promotion code has frequency of use restrictions."

    • I get that too, signed in

    • Probably OzBargained.

  • Schizer missed it, anyone know of another similar deal?

    • Their standard price isn't so bad.

Holy crap did i just say that?

  • Thanks OP! got one.

  • These proved to be quite good - thanks OP.

They weigh 60g and are certainly brighter and sharper and slightly larger than Zapal's which came in at 41g. I'll give those latter ones away to the poor.

    • The Zapal's torches you posted in the link are the same as the ones in this deal, the smaller ones are these

      • No they are not, and no i'm not confusing this and Zapal's torches with the ones in your link.

What i have said is accurate.

        • Here are the two links Zapals & Rosegal both Ultrafire UK68 they are identical even list the same dimensions in the product listing unless I'm going blind lol

        • +1

          @adr8:

They look the same online, but are not.

Mate, i've bought both, and weighed and tested them both (lol).
All you've done is look at the images on their websites (lol).
I didn't even buy the "smaller one" that you originally mentioned (lol).

You're not going blind (lol), you're just a little gullible (lol) by believing what you see online (lol).

        • +1

@AngryChicken: Ok settle petal, no need to get your knickers in a knot and get angry about it lol.

I am not basing it over the pictures alone as I have bought several UK68 from different suppliers and they have all been the same size, having said that I have bought a batch from the same supplier at the same time and some were brighter than others but I didn't weigh them lol

        • lol

        • @AngryChicken: Can you post pics of both torches side by side so we can see the difference. That is if you can be bothered lol

Got you hook line and sinker lol https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/338609#comment

        • +1

@AngryChicken: Linked incorrect comment https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/338609#comment-5225934 but seriously can you post the pic as mine are all the same size.

          @adr8:

You want me to spend the time to take shots for a month-old thread just to show what i've said is true? Who are you, GearBest?

Of course i'll spend the time in the spirit of collective sisterhood. Here's the shots that i've uploaded to my private blog. The one on the left is the Rosegal, the one on the right the Zapals.

        • +1

@AngryChicken: I can see you suffer from little man syndrome, so I wont bother you about them again lol

        • lol

  • Anyone received theirs yet? Hoping this week to receive in Perth -it would have been a month this week.

    • Received mine today. Ordered 10/10. So a bit over 3 weeks. I'm on the other side of the country too ….

Now, about the battery …I thought I could put an eneloop in there and it'd be all good !

So why are we discussing 14500 batteries in this thread ?

      • Thanks 51ngh,
Hopefully this week then as ordered the same date as you. I have read that the 14500 battery is a standard fit in most torches and provided higher output - assume this means brighter rather that longer battery life?

  • Installation of bicycle mount….
I'm assuming the half of the mount which has the screw going through it goes on the handlebar and the torch snaps into place in the other half ?

    • Got mine yesterday and that is exactly how I installed it also.
