Help Me Find a No Scratch Belt/Buckleless Belt for Working around New Cars in WA

I need to get a buckleless/no scratch/mechanics/nylon/velcro style belt for keeping my pants up while working around new cars. The best i have found is around $50 from the US on eBay. I could just get pants that fit but i am between sizes at the moment so they are either too tight or too loose. Can anyone help us out with something local?

Needless to say, that a hard core OzBargineer would just work naked.

After some searching, I did manage to find an item called loopbelt that is about $12US, but the shipping kills it. You might be able to find an Australian distributor? Or cheaper postage??

Edit: Found loopbelt.com and you can order direct from them and they are $25US posted and accept PayPal.

Could also try some of these… Magnetic panel protectors. They are cheaper than that belt, but best part is you can wear a normal belt.

I know they are not belts, but if you are working on cars on a regular basis, these are great.

Source: mechanic for many many years with big pants and a belt. Use these wing covers all the time.

PS: Have you considered…. These??? ;)

  • Can't you just buy a normal belt like this from Ebay and cover the buckle part with soft fabric.

Try using a shooting belt, usually woven nylon, used by police/security to carry their gear. Wraps around and overlaps tightly with velcro. Most hunting/gun stores stock them. They can come in an inner and outer style too, where you loop the lighter inner through your pants' carriers, and have soft velcro loops on the surface. The heavier outer belt comes with the rougher hooks on the inner face, and carries all the weight, it attaches to the inner belt and is supported all around. Both belts wrap around and overlap. Infinitely adjustable within the range of sizes. If you aren't attaching anything to the belt, it will not scratch anything. Search ebay etc. for Nylon Velcro Police Duty Gun Belt.

why don't you just rotate your belt so that the buckle is on your back?

    • You end up tearing the crap out of seats.

  • rope.. tie a knot.

    • I considered a double shoe lace… not very comfortable
