    • Thank you this is really what I need

In VIC it is very clear, if they have a liquor licence it must be free, unless they have an exemption. "Failure to provide free drinking water could result in a fine of up to $4,428."

The restaurant that served us is licenced and still charge us $2.5 for tap water (from a glass water jug).

You should take this up with their management. Right away.

          Demand right of way!!!

When you get told to leave and never come back understand it is their right also

      • That's crazy. I'd complain. (Well wouldve at the time) Did you know you were being charged before you agreed?

When something is outrageous i have no issue in making my distaste known

    • Just to add on to that, because Lifehacker didn't seem to mention that Grenfell Street does indeed serve (at least at the time of incident) alcohol and does have a liquor license.

I imagine that making water free is an attempt to have an option for patrons to intersperse their alcoholic drinks with water, to try and avoid people getting completely blitzed? I have no idea, just my sense of why water would have to be free.

That's the basic gist of it.
