  • Wow what temp do these reach

    • Lol well you won't need red leds ;). Joking

      • Hmmm I'm certain I read "red less" at first and had no idea what you meant lol but now I get it and true. Also will get the orange glow effect as a bonus

  • can these be used at those speed tho?

  • so what makes this so expensive.

    • Standard speed/rate is 1600MHz (and often below), these are 4266MHz, that's a lot higher. I've got 2400MHz memory in my pc, and even that feels like the upper limit for general consumers.

Standard is closer to 2400Mhz for DDR4.

        • I was thinking in DDR3… Let's just say, I am still (in my head), well versed in the first video but not up to date with 2nd. (2013vs2017) lol. :)

        • @StoneSin: yeah DDR3 1633 I believe was the high end standard.

        • @dyl: High-mid. Could still get 2400MHz DDR3.

        • @potplanty: I meant the standard to see in a high end desktop rather than the highest available, it was actually I believe 1866Mhz for DDR3. These days it's 3200Mhz DDR4 usually, though even 2400Mhz does the job tbh.

  • Ram seems pretty expensive these days

    • Huge shortage of ram unfortunately.

Everyone is focusing on mobile phone ram, and therefore desktop ram has skyrocketed in price.

      • There's no real way of confirming it, but there's a lot of rumours about the manufacturers collaboratively raising prices. It'd make sense for them, if they thought they could get away with it.

      • It's actually scary the way they're marketing it. RAM gets destroyed in "fires" so the price jumps for years on end.

    wait… saving $300?
    8GB is $499?
I know I only have DDR3, but my 32GB cost less than half of that when I bought it years ago.

I guess I've been out of the game way too long if this is normal?

    • You can buy 8gb of ddr4 ram much cheaper than this original price. Only thing that makes this special is the speed. If its advertised to run at this speed by corsair than it must be stable in my opinion. Also runs at 1.4v so prob wont get as hot as ddr3 (1.5-1.6v). Gotta ensure your mobo can handle it
ddr3 is coming harder to find in OZ but can purchase from US for a small premium.

  • Wow I bought my Corsair Vengence LPX 16GB DDR4-3000 for $132 last year.
These faster but smaller 8GB RAM has RRP of $499? Freaking kidding me.

    • Can't find them at this price anymore unfortunately.

      • I know. I am so glad I bought my PC build a year ago when most PC components were relatively cheap. The rise of RAM prices this year is ridiculous.

For those asking why this is so expensive:

    1. It's 4266 MHz rated DDR4, which is twice the speed of bargain basement 2133 MHz DDR4. These sorts of extremely high speed memory kits have always been much more expensive than more standard kits of memory.
    2. RAM prices across the board are up, there's numerous quoted reasons as to why (high demand, caught in-between manufacturing processes, manufacturer "gentleman's agreement", etc.), but regardless RAM is more expensive at the moment.

Definitely worth having that 1-2 FPS difference in games, money well spent!

      • Can actually be significantly more than this depending on the game. Some people have seen jumps of 20-30 fps in PUBG high pop areas just from increasing ram speed. I believe Ryzen also benefits from higher speed RAM. Mind you, majority of games won't see a significant difference like you said. Money would be better spent on 16GB in the 3200Mhz speed bracket.

  • if you're looking at 86/700k then 3200 cl 16 is the max you will need, hardly any gains from anything faster

i feel like these would only have real effect in benchmarks

    • Spot on, the actual benefit in day to day tasks would be minimal.
Money is better spent on things that actually matter.

  • Aww man If I was building a new pc I would buy two kits of this, but it's too early for me to upgrade.

    • I know what you mean. My 4670k rig still rips so i cant justify upgrading my whole platform.
only thing i will be upgrading is my gpu ………..eventually

      • Yeah I'm running 4770K and 290X, no need to upgrade :(

        • My asus 280x top still pulls decent fps @1080p on most games. When they drop below 60fps i will upgrade. Best upgrade i ever made was my 144hz monitor. Couldnt believe the difference in the change. 4k isnt in my interest atm until the monitors come down in price and get a bit better spec'd then they are atm.
my dream would be eyefinity with 3x34" 4k curved 144hz setup. Asking a bit too much im affraid……….cost waaaaay too much

  • I got the single 16GB DDR 3000 for cheaper than this just in February.

    • February was actually a good time to buy RAM :(

    • DDR what? 3000MHz is also a hell of a lot slower than 4266MHz.
