AERON CHAIR REMASTERED BY HERMAN MILLER

The new Aeron retains the shape of the classic chair, but incorporates Herman Miller’s leading edge ergonomic knowledge and materials science into its remastered design.

While the Aeron's iconic form has remained largely unchanged, the Aeron Chair has been remastered from the casters up!

With the help of Don Chadwick, the chair’s original co-designer, Herman Miller have updated the classic Aeron to incorporate more than 20 years of research on the science of sitting, as well as advancements in materials, manufacturing, and technology.

New design innovations to the Aeron include zoned suspension, enhanced spinal support, and intuitive adjustments for enhanced comfort.
Key Design Features:

One of the key design features that Herman Miller designers focus on is for individuals sitting in Aeron that experiences a cross-performance design. Which means the ergonomic chair fully accommodates the widest possible range of activities and postures people adopt while working, from intense, forward-facing focus to relaxed, contemplative recline.

Natural Movement: It has been show that staying in one position reduces the natural pumping action of the muscles that deliver nutrients to the inter-vertebral disks. The Aeron chair’s tilt allows it to move with the body in such a natural way that people can shift from forward to reclining postures intuitively. With the new Aeron’s slimmer and updated tilt mechanism it delivers an even more seamless experience of movement (and stillness) to the sitter through a smoother trajectory and optimal balance point. Aeron is designed to keep people in contact with the back of the chair and in control of their continuous movement throughout the entire range of recline.

Improved Sacral/Lumbar Support: The PostureFit in 2002 that was designed for the Aeron Chair was developed to provide back support that comfortably sustains the pelvis in its natural forward tilt—the position the body holds while standing powerfully upright.
Today, by incorporating adjustable sacral and lumbar support, PostureFit SL is able to support the sacral region as well as nurture the natural S-shape of the spine, rotate the pelvis forward, and activate healthful posture—all while sitting upright. A secondary pad provides comfort and support to the lumbar region of the spine. Together, they help strengthen the spine to produce what Herman Miller calls “power posture".

New 8Z Pellicle offers extraordinary comfort through eight varied zones of tension in the seat and back. Designed around the human anatomy to better envelop the sitter.
Each of 8Z Pellicle’s zones serves a specific purpose. Four tight zones engage the sitter and are the first point of contact with the suspension material to reinforce a healthful seated posture. Two nesting zones provide a lower amount of tension to cradle the sit bones and scapulars and reduce pressure in those areas. Two zones of stabilization accommodate the key muscle groups of the sitter at a healthy angle without letting the body sink into the chair. Together, the zones deliver the preemptive support the body needs to stay active throughout the day.
The new 8Z Pellicle also allows body heat to pass through to help maintain an even and comfortable skin temperature.

$100 off for a $1500 chair is not a bargain.
    Funny.

    • +6

6.6% discount, almost as good as cashrewards.

    • -1

$100 off for a $1500 chair is not a bargain.

So what is it? Tell us what a bargain is?

You might want to talk to Scotty as 90% of the deals posted are no longer bargains according to you so he needs to rename this site.

      • EXTREMEEEEEEEE Ozbargain lol Min 90%!

    • +6

Refer to the negative voting guidelines.

If someone was looking to buy this chair - guess what? They just saved $100.

You could argue this is a much more worthwhile bargain than getting a $4 pair of earphones for $2.99.

      • +3

Yeah, but if they also looked around, would save a fair bit of $.

$995 seems to be the going rate for a discount:
        https://livingedge.com.au/product-sale $995 Aeron Remastered Size B

Other sizes are cheaper than $1400 as well. I would shop around and look for a real discount on this one.

edit: BAD COMPARISON: missing arms but still

      • I think the issue is clutter, if every price below RRP were posted as a bargain this would no longer become a resouce for bargains. it is all obviously subjective. eg. if for an item it is extremely rare to get a price below rrp then it might be a deal for some people.

    • -1

Where's the rule stating every deal posted has to be a bargain?

  • +8

Sat on one of these. Wasnt that amazing. Dont believe the hype.

    • I hate these things, but its all they use at work.. much prefer regular cushioned office chairs.

    • Stealcase leap chair is better in my opinion.

  • +5

sitting on this chair will bring me to the championship of LOL? if yes, i guess i will buy it, otherwise….XD

  • They are good chairs, but don't suite for everyone. Then again you need to adjust it properly to suite you, as it has so many changeable positions.

    • +9

      Sweet as.

      • Suit as

  • +3

sit on it everyday. there're hundreds of these in my office. still get sore backs after a long day of work. nothing special to the 100 bucks chair from office works, in my opinion.

    • So your office has spent over $100,000 on chairs?

      • thats not that surprising. if you consider that the office would definitely getting a bulk discount. companies might have 2k+ PCs / Macs for their employees.

things i appreciate: good pc, good mouse (brought my own), good chair (my workchair sucks so i wish they stocked better ones :( )

      • Of taxpayers money

        • +1

          What

        • Couple of federal government departments I work with have rooms full of the cheaper Sayl…

        • sorry but not taxpayers money. we make a profit on our own.

      • You would be surprised at how much gets wasted on furniture in a big corporate environment.

Something that really irks me -

I have a crappy old basic office chair that would be somewhere be about 10 years old. I use it for ~8 hours a day.

There are ~100 expensive ~$1500 chairs similar to this one in our computer training rooms. They are 5 years old but in like new condition because they only get used for a few hours every week.

If it wasn't so far away from my office I'd try pull a shifty and swap mine for one of the nice ones.

      • How is that hard to believe? That's nothing to a big company.

      • We had these chairs at Telstra. I have a $120 cushioned chair at home that is more comfortable than these. Not even close to worth the money for a frame of a chair basically. Buy a TV with the cost of this!

    • nothing special to the 100 bucks chair from office works, in my opinion

      Seriously?

      • through the last 10+ corporate/government/bank/ organisations that I worked for 3month+, not one chair ranged from 100 to this 1500, that has made a difference to how I felt when i sit and worked. I use a computer all day at work. so.. yes, seriously, and only my opinion. I myself wont pay this sort of money for an office chair.

  • +4

It's worth as much as my car lol

    • +14

      it has five wheels

    • +2

Probably get you laid more too.

    • -1

no! it cost as much as ur car, not "worth" as much.

    • I bought my car for $200. It's ran for the last 4 years nearly and has cost about 12x more in rego since then.

If you buy a car that cheap and it doesn't break down in a few months, you got a good deal.

Tip: Look at the Buro Metro Chair eg:

    http://www.winc.com.au/main-catalogue-productdetail/buro-met…

1/3rd of the price, and it is very comfortable.
(Speaking from 2 years experience with 2 of them).

    • +8

      This guy sits.

    • Agreed! I purchased a Buro Metro and am very happy with it. Super comfy and supportive*

*It whispers to me: "My Precious."

    • I agree. Bought one of these when "Staples" had a $15 off for every $100.
They seem to have gone up by &70 since then.

  • I have one of these at work. It's too wide and deep to be naturally comfortable. I am sure it provides the necessary ergonomics though. It is worth paying to get a good chair if you sit in it all day and have back issues. I prefer the 'gaming' car I have at home to one of these. I could buy 5 or 6 of them for this price. Office policy prohibits me to bring my own chair to work without a medical reason.

    • +1

Aeron chairs come in 3 sizes. The largest size is for very tall or obese.

  • When I left my old job I took one of these with me. Great chair, I prefer it to my sofa but still over priced

  • Thanks OP, bought 6!

  • Bought one 2 months ago. Helped me climb from bronze 3 to silver 2 . Works.

  • Great price!!

    Buy 14 get 1 free

  • I bought a Steelcase Leap for $1200 delivered. This is not a good price for Aereon.

  • Used to have one at home. Impressively durable except for the arm rests (but they can be replaced). Get a used one, a fraction of the price and usually no worse for wear (or you can buy replacement parts).

Just didn't find it comfortable though. Unlike most office chairs where you can adjust the back support forward to force yourself to sit in a straight back position, Aerons do not have that option.

The back support position felt too far back for me and I effectively ended up forcing my head forward relative to my neck. Ended up selling the thing because I felt it was ruining my posture.

  • +1

    $100 off, not bad.
    But I won't spend $1395 on a chair.

  • Just because something is discounted doesn't make it bargain

  • -1

why buy this when u can get a full body massage chair for the same price?
and btw, for something so op like this, $100 off "bargain" means nothing.

    • Try doing work on the massage chair.

      • ya abit hard to work with the "full body" massage chair.
just saying u could get a "full body" one with the same price, not suggesting you should do work on it.
a half body massage chair or a real leather boss chair would be nicer if consider doing works.

  • -1

From what I have been reading it seems the Mirra2 is the same if not better, and perhaps they only keep selling the Aeron because of the brand recognition.
Has anyone used both? Considering getting one in the next couple of weeks.

  • +1

Everyone buys these chairs in office environments simply because they're the Macbook of chairs. I have used one and they're great, but I thought they were like $500, not $1500…

  • +3

    I'm sitting in a 7 - 8 year old C sized Aeron, which I bought new for $1300.

It's been repaired one time a year ago, after one of the bolts that holds the seat in place snapped in the middle (it's had a LOT of sitting)

Took the 12 years warranty for a spin, and had the bolt, both arm wrests that had developed wrinkles, and the seat locking lever that would no longer stay in place, all replaced (after farting around with the company for 2 months to get the tech out to my house).

To be honest, it hasn't felt 100% right since the repair, but I can;t put my finger on what it is…. and there's too many knobs to adjust to figure it out, but it still feels better than every other chair in my house, and allowed me to get home from work at 7, play WoW till Midnight, and spend 18hrs each on Saturtday and Sunday in it playing games / binging tv / whatever i feel like.

Would recommend assuming this remastered has the same warranty, even if solely for the fact you don't have to buy another one for 12 years (just over $100 a year, and I was destroying $150 officeworks chairs every 12 months)

    • Can I get that on Afterpay? Who was payment plan?

      • The payment plan was showing the wife the $150 / $200 Office works chair every 18 months costs, and showing a break even at $150 per 18 months, and a saving against more expensive / shorter life chairs :D

        • Guess you save a fair bit of money not ever having to buy sunscreen

        • or clothes ;)

    • woah that is a lot of weekend time spent sitting down

Maybe you gotta spend less time on this chair

  • +1

Gave in and bought one of these 3 years ago.

I have 4 Buro chairs in the house.

This chair, although doesn't seem "comfortable" when compared with other chairs, this one basically fixed my back.

I got to the point where I couldn't even sit for 20mins in a Buro and somehow this felt super comfortable.

I can sit in this chair for 8 hours stopping only for toilet breaks and not feel any pain.

    Hype is real.

  • -1

Or you could get one from officeworks for $100. No office chair worth that much money.

  • Does anyone know if you can, or how to, get either a health fund or workcover to cover the cost of one of these?

  • Does this come with jousting sticks?????

  • +1

$995 seems to be the going rate for a discount:
    https://livingedge.com.au/product-sale $995 Aeron Remastered Size B

    • Yeah, but this one comes in unusual gray color which might not fit your room aesthetically, does have only adjustable lumbar support (not adjustable PostureFit as incorrectly advertised on their website) and no armrests (could be deal-breaker for some)

      So yeah, that's why it's "only" $995.
