My AMEX account shows it's available at my local Event Cinemas in Newcastle - Glendale & Kotara. Reckon it would be county wide.

    • Darn, thanks :/

    • +1

I opened link, allowed browser access to location when prompted, and locations updated for me (SA).

      • +1

OK - so we see location specific results depending where our browser determines we are. Thanks

Logged in - mine shows my locals in BNE

conveniently, pre star wars, though i guess it should apply to pre-bought tickets

      Buy a gift card :)

      • On Event Cinemas' website giftcard T&C:

NOT VALID FOR USE IN VICTORIA OR TASMANIA.

      • pay postage for gift carD?

  • Whats the minimum gift card u can get?

    • +1

They have gift cards starting from $25 going up in $5 increments so you can get a $30 gift card.

  • +1

    Just in time for Thor

  • +16

Cool, save $10 on a small popcorn!

    • +2

Are you a VIP or something? Thats a stellar price for popcorn at Event. Maybe one day I'll work up the tiers to get to those specials.

    • +4

Split payment over 3 cards to save more on the large popcorn.

  • No direct link to signup?

    • Click the 'Go to Deal' box in the description above.

  • Damn no Victoria :(

Moonlight Cinema but that’s about it.

  • +1

Please correct me if I'm wrong, but appears gift cards cost at least $9 to send so not really worth it to get gift cards given it's only $10 cash back.
eVouchers are probably an option but then can't stack this deal with Telstra Thanks.

    • Why not? Doesn’t Telstra thanks just take you through a portal? Eventually takes you back to event cinemas’ website where you purchase tickets as normal with the additional option to purchase thanks tickets.

      • Because eVouchers aren't used like cash, as the gift cards are. So when you buy eVouchers, they are full value seats. That's how I read it - pls correct me if I'm wrong.

        • oh, I thought you mean gift cards. my bad. yeah, I also bought some tickets via the Mastercard deal and now I'm not sure what to use first…

    • Telstra Thanks doesn't use eVouchers, it's just a discounted price checking out through the Event Cinemas website. However eVouchers are typically cheaper, but with the AMEX offer, it may be cheaper to use Telstra Thanks.

  • $10 off a gold class ticket essentially?

Cinemas and some shops in Sydney CBD are notorious for not displaying prices next to their items. Is there legislation around that requires this or is it allowed?

    • +1

I also found this funny when I was in Sydney CBD. I refused to buy anything if there is no price next to them, feels as if they are trying to rip me off.

  • Does this work if you use telstra tickets?

    • +2

Yes. I bought 2 discounted Telstra tickets for VMAX session of Thor last Sunday.

Total was $33 (both tickets, no booking fee).
Got the $10 credit email a few mins later and the credit showed on my card 2 days later.

  • +2

So, to clarify, spend $30 or more in one of more transactions means I can spread the spend between booking fees online, upgrades to VMAX, popcorn in store? That's how I'm reading it anyway.

    • That's what I was wondering too. I read it the same way as you, $30 over multiple transactions, since its a "One $10 credit". Would work out great for thor + justice league.

  • Can I buy some kind of voucher / ticket and not use it yet?
    (coupons / credit?)

  • Ah another Sydney Centric offer. Only one location for Melbourne.

    MOONLIGHT CINEMA
    BIRDWOOD AVENUE
    ROYAL BOTANIC GARDENS
    SOUTH YARRA
    3141

  • In time for Thor! Used with AAMI lucky club GC

  • Am I the only one here don't feel this eventcinema amex deal isn't that great? notice all the other promo e.g. discounts evoucher, free movietix, dendy birthday $1 etc etc list available for grabs at OZB.

and yes, will bring snack to movie instead buying popcorns

    • Events is a lot more accessible compared to Dendy however, for example in greater Western Sydney where Dendy would never open

  • just checked and found Telstra Thanks and Cinebuzz member price are the same, from $10 for selected sessions.
So, if purchased a $30 gift voucher online using the amex deal and received $10 back, that is less than $7 per movie ("30-10"/3)

Successfully acquired some gift cards, got the email straight away telling me I've redeemed the offer.

    • What's the expiry of gift card ?
33% off isn't bad at all

      • Gift cards last 12 months with Event Cinemas. And yes, exactly why I got the gift cards!

    • N/A for VIC right ?

      • I'm not sure, sorry.

  • Can anyone help me, do we have to go into the actual cinema to get this deal or can you buy the giftcard online?

  • +4

    https://giftshop.eventcinemas.com.au/Category/CinebuzzChrist…

buy digital gift card for $50- with $60- value on it.
not bad combined with the Amex $10- back, so $40- for $60- event credit. bought today online, already tracked

    • thanks for the tip
      Some xmas presents sorted :)

    • +1

Now you can also get $50 gift cards for $40 til 17 November.
      https://giftshop.eventcinemas.com.au/Category/CinebuzzChrist…

      • ah even better, nice

      • This probably better than getting 2 $30 GC for $40 after amex cash back

    • F***! I did the same thing but checked out using Paypal. I think I fu…ed up! No messages from AMEX yet.

      • +1

If you used AMEX with PayPal, I'd be surprised if you actually got the statement credit as usually the terms and conditions state that you can't get if you use third-party payment services like PayPal and AfterPay.

        • AMEX wouldn't recognise the merchant if paid by Paypal. Hence, no credit

        • Yes you’re right. Got nothing back yet. Looking to buy another one now with the 10$ credit then. Some lessons are learnt the hard way I guess.

  • deleted

  • Is anyone else getting a "payment declined" message?

    • Call Amex advised them the payment has been declined. Ask them why?
